Insulated Drink Bottle - Looking for Good Value

Hi folks,
Any suggestions for good value insulated (e.g. double walled or vacuum) drinks bottles that will last.

I see advertisements and recommendations for yetis everywhere by they are rather expensive, so I'm after something bit cheaper that will still do the job and last a while.

I tried a cheaper one from Bunnings and it was great in the few weeks it lasted before the insulation stopped working.

The Kmart Frank Green rip-off is excellent quality and super cheap ($15, 960ml)

I got the Sistema double walled bottles from a deal ages ago and finally started using them, seems to work well. They don't hold much though.

  • Swell Stainless Steel bottles have served us well.

Oasis water bottles, or Owala for a bit more fancy.
We have 4 Oasis and 2 Owala.

    • Can Agree, have had an Oasis at work for years - fill it up from the chiller monday, still cold tuesday morning :)

  • Decor hydro has been surprisingly good - I got it for something like $7 during a Cole’s sale

I only use it for cold water though

Thermos bottle seems to be pretty good?

For what it’s worth, just go with a Yeti. Small investment at the start but you can’t go wrong with them.

Contigo West Loop. The mechanism inside the lid can be flipped out for cleaning and is one of the most hygienic and cleanable bottle I have tried.
Very easy to drink from by pressing a button, and can be locked to prevent leaking in the bag

  • I got one of these for free a few years and it’s the best water bottle I’ve ever had, don’t know if it’s outside your price range though. Other colours available.

Good capacity, pretty easy to clean, mouth is wide enough to fit ice cubes in. If I put ice cubes in it and fill it with water the ice won’t melt for a couple of days even in a hot car so it’s been really good on hikes. I’ve never dropped it, banged the bottom of it a couple of times (minor dents) but I wouldn’t count on its durability (as in I would avoid dropping it in general).

I might buy another one as a backup I’m that chuffed with it.

  • Zojirushi like these are good

  • coles frequently have 50% off their stocked drink bottles. check them out.

  • Sistema is crap, Bella is crap.

Camelbak and Neoflam are pretty good.

    • Agreed. I got a camelbak tumbler for $20 via an ozb deal

      It’s great

I’ve been hoping another similar deal pops up

had my yeti for 3 yrs, used daily and dropped a couple times. couple of scratches and a minor dent but works a treat still, including the hotshot cap. the marketing is legit, theyre a good product
    buy once cry once

  • Do you want to pour to drink or a straw? I don’t like the straws, never seem to get enough water out of them, but the no-name one I’ve got now has an opening that’s a bit wide so it spills a bit if you try to drink fast.

  • Value?

Tell people you have more money than sense. Buy Frank Green

Yeti. Most solid water bottle ever. Spending more to only buy once is worth it unless you are regularly losing water bottles.

In Choice magazine, the Klean Kanteen TKWide café cap 12/16oz came out tops as a water bottle as well as a keep cup. Choice noted that it had “Excellent thermal performance - contents remained above 50⁰ for 5.75 hours”, which I guess would mean that it keeps water cold for as long. It managed 85% in review, while Yeti scored 60%.

  • I am a fan of the 360 degree bottles. My current one has been going strong for seven years. I've thrashed it.
    https://www.adventurebase.com.au/360-wide-mouth-vacuum-insul… $40 for a one litre bottle.

Pro tip: don't get sucked in by expensive cleaning tablets. Buy as pack of denture cleaning tabs for $10 and have a clean bottle for a couple of years.

Edit: keeps water cold for a bit longer than the 24 hours advertised and it keeps water hot 7 hours.

  • I bought an Aquaflask last year, they have various sizes which fit your needs.

  • I bought a 750ml vacuum stainless steel bottle from ebay for $18 August 2021 & it's still going strong. Keeps cold all day. Just remember you can't put them in the dishwasher or submerge them in hot water otherwise they'll lose the vacuum.

  • Joseph Joseph for the handy carry ring on the lid when walking, or Avanti for work/in the car because it's slender and fits everywhere. Both work well for hot and cold drinks. For soup, Thermos or a wider-necked bottle.
