I was one of the lucky ones that got the 65inch version for $299 during the Little Birdie launch, was a bit worried about the quality at first but the picture quality is quite sharp

    • I remember they sent me two replacement units due to severe backlight bleeding.. QC definitely not great

  • +2

Wow, I didn't think non-Smart TVs were even available anymore. When I bought my last TV 3 years ago the best deal I found was one with android TV built in and I loathe it.

    • +1

They're available for corporate digital signage, but cost considerably more than smart TVs.

  • Doesn't appear to have ARC for those who need that.

    • +3

      It literally says HDMI-ARC: Yes | HDMI3

      • Interesting. Neither the specs on the website, nor the manual (including the menu section where you'd normally enable/disable it) say anything about ARC.

        • Can confirm arc is on the menu on the tv, although not set this up yet.

  • +1

    Great TV!

  • +1

Have. Soniq TV nearly 12 years ,from bedroom TV /console TV,to outdoor undercover tv it's done the job, cobwebs and indirect heat from Perth summers ,still chugs along, yea a delay in the remote but had that day one and just plug in a Google TV and remote and you'll have a bang for your buck set up

  • Does this have MPEG4 encoder? My 12 year old LCD tv can't get some newer Free to Air channels.

    • +2

Video specs in Manual show "Video System MPEG-2MP@ML"

      • Thanks for the info. Not going to buy then..

    • +1

Looks like the most recent edit to the description added the whole Specification part, which includes:

      Picture/Video: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, MPEG-1/2, MPEG4, H.264,H.265, RV8/9/10

However, I too cannot find any mention of MPEG4 in the manual.

    • The specs on this page say:
      Picture/Video: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, MPEG-1/2, MPEG4, H.264,H.265, RV8/9/10

Thinking of getting this for an AirBnb.

What is the simplest way to get YouTube / Netflix to work on it

  • Anyone have any insight into what the C&C hours/days are? I’m interested in this, but postage is a killer and I have a funny feeling they’re not available for collection on weekends.

    • Our office opens 9am - 5:30pm AEST on business days.
414 Lower Dandenong Rd, Braeside Victoria 3195

      • -1

Yep, that’s what I found while searching too, exactly what I had feared. Pretty inaccessible, was hoping that they would have collections later or on weekend days.

  • +1

Anyone got this 55" model and can comment on pic quality? Obviously not expecting much at this price point but still… I have an LG 55" 2016 model that is going well in the living room before that had a Samsung 2011- 55" that developed those annoying small white sun like spots after 7 or 8 years and have a v good Aldi Bauhn 42" inch with built in soundbar in bedroom which is pretty dang good for $300

  • +2

I'm north western suburbs of Melbourne and shipping is $215, bringing it up to $514 total. That's a hard pass considering the 1 year warranty.

I'm still running a 40" VIVO brand TV in my bedroom I got back in 2011 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51553)… I'm amazed it still works fine!

(VIVO was Dick Smith's "house brand", kind of like JB's FFalcon).

    • +2

I'm in South East, only 18km away and it's still $132 so definitely not worth shipping. C&C or no deal.

I'm running a 42 inch Pana plasma from 2010 and nothing wrong with it, unfortunately!

      • +1

I got a samsung 1080p plasma from 2004 still going strong, only problem is the screen brightness has gone down so when warching sport the screen looks dull etc… 20 year run pretty good

  • Hmm will cost me $50 fuel to get to braeside for click and collect and total 2 hours drive return… probably would it be worth it? Hmmm

    • +3

      Worth every penny

      • +3

Thanks for your words wisdom 🙂👍 ordered click collect. Would have been about $220 extra for delivery otherwise

        • +3

          Date night sorted 👍🏻

  • Huge! Much prefer non-smart TV's but I can't cop the $161 in shipping costs :(

  • Would this be annoying to use as a computer monitor for work? Instant tax deduction

    • Yes, I got a 48 for that and it's still big

    • I use a 75 samsung tv for the same purpose. all good if you have enough room.

  • keep getting "The token has expired, please try again." when trying to checkout to see shipping costs.

  • +1

Yeah I think there's issues with their website. Went to check out and even went through to paypal and token expired. Constantly logging me out and won't add item to carts. Need to do it multiple times to add to cart.

Not sure if anyone has successfully purchased yet? anyone?

    • Looks like it's working again

  • Something is not right trying to check out as guest but its emptying the cart.

  • Can Op manage to lower the shipping cost? $150 to Sydney but still if the price adding up to $450 There's really no any advantage of this anymore, considering 1 year warranty, thicker frame, harder support and non-smart.

300ish total price would be great.

  • Can you mount this on the wall?

    • +1

      VESA Wall Mount Size: 200x200mm

    • Just did this. Big gap.

  • +2

Delivery costs look exy. But, more importantly, who makes the panel?

  • -3

    Stupid is as stupid does

  • +1

Staggered this brand is still a thing after JB ditched them.

  • I purchased a EKO 55" Smart Tv with WebOS one year ago for $350 from Big W.

The Web OS is very responsive and have no complaints about the picture quality for the price bracket

    • I purchased x2 around the same time, both failed the same way while my older version with Android is still going. It's starting to develop some slight discolored lines on the top right hand corner but you can't really tell majority of the time, depending on the colors being displayed. Pot luck, possibly from the same manufacturing batch.

    • +1

I got a 75" EKO when they were clearing them out for $699. worked a couple of days then it started failing to turn on. returned within the week. No option for a replacement as it was last they had.

  • is there anyone check out as guest and received confirmation email ? been changed via PayPal but no confirmation email since this afternoon.

    • ordered 14:15
      14:17 email from Soniq website
      14:17 another email from PayPal

regarding Guest checkout there was a "Sign up with this information" checkbox on the guest checkout. this kept failing so I backed up and unchecked it. only then did the guest checkout go through to Paypal checkout.

  • +1

$143.82 Shipping cost kills the deal for me..

    • Still beats the OG price of $500. Treat it like normal price with free shipping.

  • +1

I'm not surprised they decreased the warranty. I used to sell Soniq TVs back in the day and the return rate was abysmal. The picture quality and input lag were also shit house compared to pretty much anything else. Might be okay as cheap TV for young kids who don't know any better.

  • good price, but not paying for a Sherpa to carry it from Melbourne………

  • Shipping Cost $177.76

  • I bought a Soniq TV in 2017. Didn't last more than 13 months. Straight to the bin
I can't trust the brand anymore

  • Soniq! They are still around?
Remember seeing these 10 yrs ago in jb

  • +1

    Has this ended??

    • It is still available. I managed to buy one.

  • Has anybody received pick up confirmation yet?

    • I haven't

    • +1

got the email first thing Wednesday and picked up from Braeside that arvo.
down the side road past the front car park.
in either of the gates on the right of the road.
park near and enter the small door, not the big loading dock door.

  • $134 shipping charge is a killer. I got a 65' Soniq for 4 years and no complians.

  • It is still available. I managed to buy one. Thanks OP

  • +2

We went to order one yesterday for pickup only to find the deal had ended, shot them off an enquiry and they re-enabled the deal today. Bought 2, were then informed wait 24hrs for pickup. Only had the 1 day off so chanced it and went down to the dandenong location & was able to pick up.

Tv itself is ok. Stand is a bit of a pain in the arse but does have wall mount holes. Sound is better than all the other cheap tv's I've heard. Haven't tested the 4k yet but there is noticeable ghosting

    • +2

Stand is a bit of a pain in the arse

oh my god. i thought I had a faulty screw or hole. design flaw doesn't cover it.

  • +3

I think it’s the same one also available on eBay for $389 including delivery.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/235312620120?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • doesn't deliver to me (am in NSW and the listing is in Melb, so maybe they deliver in Melb)

  • Anyone bought a wall mount? any suggestions please

    • My existing wall mount, I’ve got a big gap between display and wall. Feels like a tv that’s not meant for hanging. Would be ok if outside, but sticks out too much for my liking in our living room. Probably better wall mounts that are flusher and not sure if you could recess the mount. Just checked and I can fit a tin of baked beans in the gap

  • +2

For those picking up, check the panel before leaving. You can ask for the TV to be opened and checked.

Our initial screen had dead pixels. Claimed warranty and brought the unit back to the warehouse for a new replacement. The first replacement also had dead pixels.

Glad we checked before we drove the new replacement unit home. Otherwise, the whole process was pretty straightforward.

  • Was quoted $195 for shipping to WA for single unit, and $380 for two units.

This brings it to just under $500 landed, can you guys think of any better deals elsewhere?
