Creality CR-6 SE 3D Printer $245 (Was $480) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart

150

Similar to the current Ender 3 V3 SE deal but this is CR 2020 model, hence slower speed, 100mm/s.

It's an updrage to the Ender 3 V2. The noticeable is its powerful and silent fan. Full comparison is here.

Specs: CR-6 SE, Ender 3 V2, Ender 3 V3 SE

I might have picked this instead if I knew it ealier as Umart is much closer to where I live and maybe a better buy.

  • okay for absolute noob beginner?

You'll have fun. After one year of printing on the Ender 3 pro I printed this

awesome! love the banana for scale too.

recommendations for print material for a noob?
i realise this is probably now going to be a very expensive rabbit hole im about to go into…

        • +1

PLA or PLA+ are your go to. Get that material understood and tuned, then go exploring others for different desired qualities. The only other material I really use is PETG, for anything that might need some extra strength and/or get particularly warm, like inside a parked car.

On the same boat looking for the filaments. Ebay has them for $13-$15 per kg depending on the quantity. The Jaycar staff said about 40g per print so roughly cost uder $1 if we can get a deal on the filaments.

        • +1

PLA or PLA+ (same-same). Buy a few rolls of ONE colour of the same brand. Changing colour can change performance. Get your temps right, print some tests (see thingiverse etc). Get ready to troubleshoot!

        • +1

PLA and PLA+. If ever you see filament for less than $19/kg just buy it to use later. I have about 12kg worth.

          • @Lizard Spock: nice , bought an extra imou wifi camera just for this so i can monitor it while im at work HAHA im mega excited

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: You might be interested to look into OctoPrint for remote monitoring and control (plus heaps of other functionality)

              • @bopter12: woah! thats awesome! yes i will definitely suss it once i get this up and running, will pick up the machine after lunch and hopefully put it together saturday or sunday…hoping for no hiccups. umart has been painful before for me handling warranty :(

                • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: If it’s your first 3D printer, I’d imagine you’ll probably run into some hiccups - most likely not caused by faulty equipment. Be prepared for at least some frustration to begin with.

Take your time setting everything up correctly before printing anything to avoid things like pile-driving the nozzle into a brand new build surface… ask me how I know haha.

      • Very cool! I'm so close to taking the plunge and buying one…

How do you stick the different pieces together? Hot glue?

        • +3

          I use thermoplastic pellets

        • Superglue works as well depending on what you're gluing

      • Link to the printable file please?

      • Absolute noon here about 3d printing. How much filament went into printing this model? How stable is it? Not shaky or wobbly?

        • -1

considering it looks to be just suspended at front and back with fine wire (or nylon cable?) it must be pretty damn stable…

        • +1

About 2kg of PLA. The clips that hold the pieces together started to fail and needed metal rods to give it more support as it hands from the garage (car hole) ceiling.

I was an absolute noob beginner when I got my Ender 3 V2. I ignored the setup instructions that came with it and followed a Youtube video instead and was printing some decent prints straight away. This is a great entry price.
Not sure about upgrades for this one but there are heaps for the V2 which I've spent some cash on. Filament is pretty cheap and lasts a while so it's not as expensive as you may think.

      • nice i saw umart does have some but not sure if trash, wanted to get started this week (gotta get that instant or near instant dopamine hit from new purchase)
might suss amazon too just to get some to try.

edit i see this is (might?) come with starter filament - a youtbue video said so..but all the 'whats in the box listings' i can find on google doesnt say

Anyone have a similar experience with the Ender (either V2 or V3) making a clicking sound and not feeding the filament out?

I went on the forums, took apart the 3d printer, put it back together, cleared nozzle and tube, bought a new nozzle and tube and nothing worked.

Has now been sitting the same spot for the last year.

    • Clicking usually means it's trying to feed filament, but it can't. So either a nozzle clog, or tube clog, or its just trying to push too fast for the temp the nozzle is set at (your filament isn't getting runny enough). If it's kind of extruding, but clicking while doing so, that would lean me towards not hot enough nozzle.

    • Lotsa things to diagnose this:
Remove filament - does it still click?
Check the filament path - is everything moving smoothly?
Your filament is going to be a bit messed up from trying to push it - cut off any damaged bit.
Remove nozzle and try feeding filament with a cold block (manually or auto, doesn't matter).
Make sure you have your nozzle tightened appropriately!
Check your block is heating and you have your temp right.

3D printing with cheaper machines is all about problem solving.

    • Scrutinize connections of the 4 wires that feed the extruder stepper motor. Is the gear tooth pulling the filament in fixed on properly?

(profanity) creality all they do is lie!!!!

  • Looks like a great deal…. but delivery is a killer for me….regional SA for $100. I looked at alternatives- catch has it for $300 free delivery, for folks like me.
Or $295 at aurum shipped to regional sa

  • Just bought the Ender 3 V3 SE and it's been great so far, printing stuff fine out of the box with no tweaking.

    How does this compare?

    • Same question not sure if it worths returning the Jaycar one. I guess I'll just keep it.

    • from op's write up id say you would be safe just keeping the ender

      • Definitely keeping it, was just interested to see how it compares.

        • +2

Noobie as well also got the jaycar unit today (and same deal, works 100% out of the box).

Looks like this is older but higher end. Touchscreen, filament runout sensor are probably the main things. But also bigger and heavier, uses an older extruder design, much slower printing (like 1/2 the speed).

          Happy with my jarcar one!

          • @mattman: No touch screen is no big deal, not like I'm in the menu much and the wheel works fine. Auto pause when the filament runs out would be a nice to have, not essential for me though.

  • I have this printer for 3 or so years now. A few things will need upgrade, like the extruder Bowden tube. Gantry also wonky out of the box.

See my post for more info.

    • damn i wonder how long umart has been sitting on this stock?

feedback is all over the shop from the last few years, some perfect out of box, some dead out of box or within minutes… wondering if i should cancel order.

Picked mine up today finally, looking at Batch date manufacture it says 2021 haha guess umart been sitting on these for years, hope I didn’t get a bad one…
