Wish the 27" was that price.
    :)

    • you can wish all you like… it ain't happening yet.

      • There were some 27" IPS (1080p model) displays at the Dell DFO yesterday for $238 (or something close).

WTF is the neg votes for? We all know Dell do this every other week and I wasn't even bagging the OP..

  • Excellent screen for the price..

  • Missed the Samsung $199 deal but got this one. Thanks OP

    • i reckon this is better than the samsung anyway

      • This is e-ips panel ( 6 bit) , just average .

        • believe the samsung from binglee was a TN?

also the aspect ratio on the dell is alot more practical for office use.

        • The Samsung c24b550u is "WVA" panel (Not TN ) , on the manual says RGB 8 bit .

Yes , resolution of this is better .

        • thanks for clarifying. can you tell me what is the WVA panel? never heard of it before (ive only ever used the IPS panels)

  • 8ms, isnt that bad? I thought most were 3-5ms?

    • +1

not for IPS panels it isnt.

      • THought it was different in some way :) thanks, will do some more research into this one then :)

If you're not in a rush to buy this monitor - ignore the "On again Last day only" as $279 is pretty much the "normal" price for it.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/U2412M

Every month… isn't this just free advertising for Dell??

    • +1

Why neg this? He is spot on - look at all the ozbargain listings for dell monitors. I's every second month

      • Then I come along and shatter this Dell fan base, with a $199 Samsung deal, simultaneously saving folk $80-$131, when Dell seeks a host its $279, once fed back to $330. weird enough ???

Besides, the everyday user will never notice the difference, its all well and good if you're paying $330 or $279 to expect something, but what did you expect for $199… ?! lol ;)

  • "Last day" lol. Until next week.

  • Regarding 6 bit the U2410 is 8 bit but the U2412M goes the other way, instead reverting to a 6-bit + A-FRC e-IPS panel. This can support up to 16.7 million colours through the use of Frame Rate Control. On paper this sounds vastly inferior, but to be honest most normal users would never notice any difference in practice between the two. The 6-bit + A-FRC of the U2412M is well implemented and gradients are actually very good with no visible banding.
See the rest of a good review

    • FYI U2410 is 10 bit.

  • DELL U2410 is still 799.00 online price.

I have a IMAC with a LG/PHILIPS panel( NOW LG DISPLAY)of S-IPS, the picture quality is much better than rest of my monitors and comfortable to use .

    8-bit 16.7 million colors
    6-bit = 65,500 colors

6bit +FRC is for the budget , don't expect too much ( better than old TN Panel ) .

BTW , I emailed Samsung for clarification what panel used for C24B550U and no respond yet.

    Title should read:

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Monitor Was $279, Today still $279 Delivered

  • Gah! My monitor died today and just came here to do a search on monitor deals. Hah!

I need one soonish, so how does this stack up against others around this price bracket.
Don't game as much anymore but do a lot of photo editing with Photoshop. Have a Spyder for calibration too.

    Thanks everyone. :-)
