  • Sorry what’s the perks code about?

Also is this the V10 that goes on sale tomorrow?

is the v15 detect worth upgrading over a v10?

    • +7

Id only replace that if the v10 is on its way out. It is a great improvement but I dont think its worth replacing it for the sake of it. These deals come around often enough.

    • +7

      I just got a gen5detect (similar to V15). Upgraded from a V6.

Gen5detect is bigger, button (not trigger), but much better suction. Auto mode is great.

Also : the green dust / dirt light is amazing. Vacuuming with most of the lights off = it's crazy how much dust / dirt I have (hardfloors) and I can also track where I've vacuumed already.

      • +2

Just bought a gen 5 Detect and really loving it, too. Thought the green light was just a gimmick but actually find it quite useful

        • that's mainly why im considering it as well. but for $800+ and i alr have 2 v10s at home…

          • @plentifoo: Then just get a dust light attachment.

            • @Richardc: all i could find were aftermarket OEM options. Don't think Dyson actually made one for the V10 or previous models officially.

  • Any deals for v8?

    • I haven’t looked into it but just saw this one

      • +2

I bought this one today, even got the fluffy roller head for the tiles. Search up a comparison on YT to see how amazing the head is for hard floors. Going to use the v8 for a quick clean/small mess to accompany my Miele C3

      • +2

Dyson v8 is the perfect size and price. Not too heavy and powerful enough for quick spot cleans. Plus you can empty the bin without having to remove the entire stick.

  • +1

Are they genuinely worth it, even after discount? They still seem so exxy. Legit interested to know, cause I am keen to buy a new vacuum!

Have you tried these models IRL? I was at DJs on the weekend and they had both the normal and outsize ones on display for testing. I felt they are huge, heavy and hard to handle (that's what she said). I've only owned the DC45 and V6, so it was a massive difference in weight/size. Made me think twice about purchasing them, even if (in an alternate reality) they were half the price IMO.

Can't tell you performance wise if they are any better/worth it, but there are plenty of reviews online on that…

As per my post above :

        • Does it work effectively on rugs?

          • +1

@T-man: Fluffy head = hard floors. Only the fluffy head has the green light.
It has a motorised brush head for rugs / carpet. No green light.

The vacuum itself is excellent for both

          • @T-man: Yeah my house is carpeted so don't use the green light :( still love it though, very happy with its suction

      • +2

The outsize is impractical imho, I have the v8 and it is enough for us, wouldn’t want it to be too much heavier at the handle.

    • Dysons are 100% worth it if you want a cordless vac or if you have an apartment with barely any carpet (not saying they are bad on carpet, just in context of my value assesment). They are easily one of the best brands for cordless. I wouldnt own a Dyson by itself, unless stated above where you have barely any carpet or live in a small area. Having a reputable cleaner that is corded that easily beats a Dyson such as Miele or Sebo for your main big cleans and a Dyson for quick cleans and pickups is the best way to go. The fluffy roller head they have is so insanely good too. I cringe when ever I see people use them as their main cleaners though as I know they just fell for the great advertising Dyson does. Dyson also has sales often so really no reason to ever buy one full price, that makes them even more valuable for the price.

      • what do you recommend for a main cleaner then?

        • Tell me your budget and flooring types and I can reccomend. Im not an full expert, I just recently did a crap ton of research to buy myself a main cleaner and a cordless daily, so I am happy to help

          • @Caramel Please: Around $300 - carpet is my main issue. I have a viaomi cordless that is perfectly fine on the hard floor but is absolutely garbage on carpet (even with a motorised head).

            • +6

@fivespice: Miele C1 Powerline is on sale atm on Amazon for $229, they normally go for around $350-$450. This is a great machine for this price range. The C3 is also on sale for $419, normally $550-$650. If you can stretch the budget a bit, this is a worthy uograde over the C1 but either way they are both good. I personally have been using a C3 since 2017 with not a single issue. Miele build quality is really worth it.

The Dyson Animal is also an option for carpet focused. I would say it is a better choice purely carpet focus, Good Guys is selling it for $399 when normally around $600. This one has an actual head with a rotating bristle for deeper cleaning. As this Dyson is corded, I wouldnt categorize it has "silly" to use it as a main cleaner/carpet cleaner as it does its job really well.

There are other options out there that are normally the retail price of less then $300 but they wouldnt be as reliable and efficiant as these sale models. If the budget is strict, you can not go wrong with the C1. As carpet is the main issue for you and your budget can be stretched, Id reccomend the sale price of the Dyson Animal. With your first comment about a main cleaner, the C3 does a great job for that but like you said, carpets are the concern which is why id lean for the Dyson over it. Alternatively, you could buy a C1 and then with the remainding money, look for a turbo head to use for the carpet, Miele has an official one you could shop around for to see where it is cheapest.

              • @Caramel Please: Thank you! The standard head of the C3 is appropriate for carpet?

                • +1

@fivespice: The standard head for both the C1 and C3 are good for carpet. Obviously a brushroll head would have an easier time at it but the universal head handles it fine.

              • @Caramel Please: I've had 2 Miele in 25 years, first lasted 22 years. Second is a C3 and going strong.

Highly recommend them. Even the cheap models are great.

          • @Caramel Please: I have hard floors and no carpet. 3 bed 2 story townhouse. Budget is probably the $300 mark too? No pets or kids either.

            • +1

@nomoneynoproblems: I would 100% take that C1 sale on Amazon for $229. The universal head handles floors well but I would buy the Miele hard floor head either the SBB 300-3 or the larger version 400-3, Miele themselves with the AU store sell the 300-3 for $119. This head is not needed but will make it much more easier and quicker to vaccumn.

          • @Caramel Please: Hi Caramel,

Can you recommend something for a small apartment and car cleaning. Only want cordless as no socket in garage. Looking at v8 currently. Don't want to spend too much but something to last at least 4-6 years. Maybe up to $500.

            • @crazyboy: Only looking at the deals to get the expensive cleaners at lower prices, honestly the dyson V8 sale on the Dyson website is a real good offer for that. Hit or miss if they last that long but most people that report Dysons as not lasting arent aware that most of the time they just need to replace the battery.

I wouldnt reccomend Miele cordless ones, the build quality is still there but the cyclone and dust features are a nuisance, their cordless cleaners arent worth it imo.

The Samsung Jet 70 is a great option too, it has a better build quality then V8 but requires more attention when it comes to handling the filters, better battery too.

If it was me in your situation. I would look at 2 options. Buy the V8 with the sale and the money saved with the sale/left over from budget, buy the fluffy roll head to clean the hard floors way easier and better. The other option would be just to buy the V8 itself, I would then buy a Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Hand-held which you can get for $140ish.With the first option you have a universal cleaner that can handle hard floors, carpet and cars really well and great value for the sale price. With the second option you have a great universal cleaner that can clean your house while having a machine specifically focused for cleaning the car which it will do great.

              • @Caramel Please: @Caramel Please
First off, hats off for offering such good recommendations.

Could you recommend cordless one for a house with a mix of hardwood floors, rugs and carpets please? 2 levels so something that’s light and easy to handle. Budget wise, cheapest but a decent one (let’s say <300).
                Thanks

We have the nightmare combo of toddlers plus carpeted house so need to vacuum almost daily for sanity purposes. We don't have the time to muck around with cords so this Dyson has been a godsend. Have never felt the need to use the bigger corded machine we kept just in case so we moved it on after a few months

        • +1

Similar here but with added Labrador. Lots of carpet and we exclusively use our Dyson V10. Our Miele corded and top end Shark cordless don't get a look in (even though they are both very capable).

        • What model do you have?

    • Here to say: no they're not if you have a medium to large size house, because there's no way they have enough power to do more than a room or two. They have to be run on 'turbo' mode to create much suction, and then the battery doesn't last longer than about 10 mins. Plus my v8 stopped working after less than a dozen goes; still waiting on replacement parts from Dyson.

      • What is the actual running time in standard mode?

  • How does it compare to lubluelu

  • +3

Lovemy Gen5detect Absolute!! Runs for 40 mins and great upgrade over our V8

  • Love the Gen5. Upgraded from a Viomi A9 and the ease of maintenance is day and night. It's so much easier to empty and no pet hair gets stuck on the head or anywhere in the wand. The green light is also great.

Originally went for A9 as I didn't want to spend as much as Dyson prices but after 2 months, it's definitely worth it.

  • this absolute or wait for the complete edition?

  • +1

How do these go on carpet? Reviews seem mixed.

    • +2

These don't even compare to the power and performance of any ordinary low/mid-range $250 corded vacuum cleaner.

But that's not what cordless vacuums are built for, they are built to do quick & simple cleans on mostly hard surfaces or small carpeted areas. If you have larger spaces, animals or a large family, you wouldn't bother at all with any cordless vacuum if doing a thorough cleaning job is what you were after.

None of these Dyson's are bad, they simply just work well for a specific purpose & no so much outside of that.

      • +2

Agree with this; sadly Dyson don't market them with such honesty - and yet they charge an absurd amount for them

  • +11

It is worth noting that the V10 sold by retailers Iike JB comes with less tools than from Dyson directly, in this case look like 4 tools less compare to the content listed here which you can get for $598 with this month’s FEBHGT $50 off code on eBay.

    • I am looking to buy a v8 for weekly cleaning apartment and my car. Which model and version should I get?
Want to keep price low and get decent attachments.

  • Did anyone actually get this at the discount price? Care to share your receipt, I'd like to try with JB chat to see if they'll do a deal. Thanks

  • Guys an such deals around do you know which retailer doing 10% off next and also is dyson website going to sell dyson gen5 complete again?
