Compare prices with Traveloka 17% cashback on Shopback and Agoda 12% cashback on Topcashback

    • Always sensible to compare. Also compare the Expedia app with the pricing through ShopBack.

I've discovered Expedia app-only discounts that have been greater than bonus cashback offers.

  • might have to cancel a booking and rebook! thanks

check the hotel, and compare with other booking website. e.g. the one I booked with free cancellation on booking for 887 AUD, but from Expedia, it is %1138. booking.com is 5.5% cash back, and Expedia is 14.5%. Expedia is more expensive, even after 14.5% cashback!

Usually price jacked from my experience especially with Booking.com who have been seriously hacked. Got message via manage bookings to pay hotels in Japan whereupon supposedly immediate refund would be received. Japanese hotels confirmed it was a scam. Booking.com claim it is hotels system compromised but I call BS. Frightening.

    • I received the same scam last week after booking a hotel in Japan through booking.com

    • Same in Africa.

    • I would find it difficult to believe boking.com has been compromised, but based on the other comments it seems its possible!. Pretty shocking, sounds like internal fraud if anything.

      • Booking.com says that some hotel partners have been phished, which is more plausible. If the phishing emails/websites are as authentic as reported then they will be able to fool (some) customers and hotel staff alike.

    • Booking.com who have been seriously hacked

While this is interesting, it should have been posted in Booking.com: 10% Cashback on Accommodation/Hotels @ Cashrewards rather than this deal. Booking.com scams have nothing to do with Expedia.

Coincidentally Australian media picked up the story not long after your post, for example ABC on 30 Jan, Guardian on 31 Jan, and Traveller on 2 Feb.

However, a simple websearch shows there were already articles throughout 2023, with a Feb 2023 Ars Technica article saying booking.com "scams with almost all the same elements have been going on repeatedly for at least five years".

So unfortunately this appears to have been around for a very long time, although it apparently ramped up significantly last year in particular.

  • They had a price jack compared to other sites. BUT AMAZING customer support price matched within 6 hours… So if you book, can do price match guarantee…
Hope cashback is not invalidated due to it.

    • I believe cashbacks normally exclude price match.

  • Bonus dropped to 12% for the rest of today, and most likely will be 10% all day tomorrow.

    • Also +8% Westpac bonus cashback (capped at $50) until midnight tonight.

      • Expedia is 11% for the rest of today, and the Westpac bonus has reverted from 8% to the standard 2%.
