Velocity 7/11 Choppers

Is it recommended to have my velocity account linked to an account that does 7/11 chopper flights? If say the account gets banned can i simply just relink to a new account? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers

edit: thanks for all the replies

    • To paraphrase the 7-Eleven section of the Fuel Discounts wiki page:

7-Eleven offers a Fuel Lock system through the My 7-Eleven app, where you can lock in the lowest pump price for a specific grade of fuel at a nearby 7-Eleven service station and then purchase fuel at that price at any 7-Eleven service station across Australia within the following seven days. (This feature is changing on 06 February 2024, as 7-Eleven will introduce a 25c/L maximum discount on the pump price at the service station you are attempting to claim the Fuel Lock.)

There are ways of falsifying your device’s location data (known on OzBargain as “using a chopper”) to make the My 7-Eleven app think you are near the location of a particular service station, which is particularly useful when a 7-Eleven location is selling fuel at a substantially lower price than the 7-Eleven service stations physically near you.

"Using a chopper" is discussed in more detail in an OzBargain forum post, but it is against the My 7-Eleven app terms and conditions. 7-Eleven can (and does) suspend or cancel My 7-Eleven accounts suspected of violating the terms and conditions, and also reserves the right to void any fuel locks where 7-Eleven believes the fuel lock price was in error.

Additionally, you can link your Velocity frequent flyer number to your My 7-Eleven account. If you do this, when you are paying for fuel in the convenience store and the attendant scans the My 7-Eleven card for your My 7-Eleven account, you can earn Velocity points and redeem any fuel locks on your account, removing the need to separately scan or swipe a Velocity membership card to earn Velocity points. The issue is that if your Velocity frequent flyer number is linked to a My 7-Eleven account that is then banned (e.g. because 7-Eleven believes you are "using a chopper"), you cannot unlink your Velocity frequent flyer from the banned account and then link it to a new My 7-Eleven account. You can still separately scan or swipe your Velocity membership card, but you will probably miss out on any Velocity points promotions that require you to present your My 7-Eleven card and have the Velocity account linked to that.

To answer your question, if your velocity linked 7-11 account gets banned, then you cannot relink your velocity to a new 7-11 account.
