Only $35 more than the Beelink SER 5 Max at its regular "sale" price of $490 but double the RAM. Same storage though. I bought this myself a month ago and happy so far.

My unit comes with 2 sticks of 16GB Crucial RAM and Crucial NVMe SSD. It also has Intel AX200 Wifi card so they didn't cheap out on components. Same manufacturer as Beelink. Build quality seems solid and it's not too loud when the fan is cranking because I mounted it behind my monitor. It comes with Windows 11 Pro, I was able to link the product key with my Microsoft account and do a clean Windows install then login again.

Upgrade to 32GB RAM and 1TB NVMe with 20 bucks more at $545.30 with this model.

  • Sorry, i dont understand, does it come preloaded with operating system-Windows pro? If not how do you get loaded?

    • +1

You can download the installation media onto a USB and link it to your MS account, which probably has a Win11 license attached, and do a fresh install. Or you can use win11 or win10 unactivated (I assume, I’m not sure whether there have been restrictions on this over the last few years).

    • +3

OP said his had Win 11 Pro.

    • +5

This comes with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled. Then I log in to my Microsoft account to get the product key linked to the account. Then I wiped the drive and reinstalled windows afresh with a USB stick and login with my account to get the liscence again. Hope that makes it clear.

yup.. never go with a pre-installed operating system.. who knows what bloat/spyware has been installed on there. I just recently re-installed TINY 11 on my Intel N100 mini pc and it ended up getting 50 points more in geekbench 5 (for those that care about benchmarks - real world it just seems a lot snappier and faster especially with chrome).

        • Why is Tiny 11 mentioned so much? How can you trust the person who created the image? Would it not be better to strip now Windows 11 yourself?

          • @ldd-mn: guessing didn't know you can make a Tiny 11 image yourself with download direct from Microsoft and then stripping out the bits you don't want, then package as an install - it's totally transparent if you don't trust the ISO on archive.org or you even just want to strip out even more to have the fastest Windows 11 you can. Sure many others will install a *nix variant of one form or another, but some people don't want to learn a new operating system and/or want to use their specific windows apps they're familiar with - or they want to run the newer o/s on older hardware.

  • Is it worth waiting for 8700G series instead of this?

    • +1

You can already get Zen 4/RDNA 3 mini PCs, they're just a lot more expensive.

For example, I believe the 8700G is just the desktop version of the 7940HS.

    • I would if I weren't completely broke and needing a PC that can do most productivity work with a breeze. My previous laptop couldn't even do word processing without lagging and couldn't play 1080p movies without stuttering. Gaming performance is ok, was able to play the many free epic games I collected over the years with various results. I think the later iGPU would be much better for gaming though.

I'm using a Larkbox X 2023 intel N100 (12GB, I should swap them over) but I also have a Kamrui AK2 Plus (16GB RAM) which I use as my daily web browsing, O365 apps, MS Teams and youtube watching box - they're back on sale for $230 after discount coupon, so might be useful to you and is cheap - depends on what sort of work you do on it. It's great for emulation and playing older games (PS1, PS2, Wii, Gamecube etc.) but not good for 3D games - 2D PC games handled easily - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CCD9J7KN

Oh I already have the Mini PC that I posted, I wish it had a better iGPU though, which is why I said I would wait for 7000 series or later to drop in price if I was not in dire need of a PC to do my normal productivity stuff. If you don't expect to play any modern games then these Intel Mini PCs are crazy good deal, I remember some being on sale for around $100.

  • This reminds me of a song…..

This speech is my recital, I think it's very vital
To rock (a rhyme), that's right (on time)
It's Trigkey is the title, here we go…
It's Trigkey to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
    It's Trigkey… it's Trigkey (Trigkey) Trigkey (Trigkey)
It's Trigkey to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
    It's Trigkey… Tr-tr-tr-trigkey (Trigkey) Trrrrrrrrrrrigkey

an upvote, and a boo to all the no sense of humour neggers

  • Thoughts on a couple of these for a proxmox cluster? I heard that amd is finnicky with GPU passthrough but is anyone else here buying these as a low power server?

    • I have used these over the years to act as servers (not this exact model). But yeh, why not, would work well I'm sure.

The only thing to consider is iommu groups. I can't speak to this model but last time I played around with unraid/Proxmox, it was a PITA to do a proper pass through without having each device in its own group. And considering this is not expandable, you're stuck with the iommu groups as per the manufacturer.

  • another Beelink

  • Can it play Crysis?

  • which is better if i need to run many emails and excel?

  • I have one of these, bought at a similar price, and they are fantastic. I use it for my kids as a homework computer. So, naturally, it mostly gets used for Minecraft and Rocket League.

    • +2

you could give the kids a potato and they would still try to run games on it.

  • This one is I5 12450H 32gb 512tb ssd also good at $449

  • Bought this one, plan to replace old gaming PC which has been used as the family minecraft server for 10+ years. Figure this has to at least work better than the i7-920 2.67GHz 8GB ram running it atm. Server has been static hardware this whole time, so not concerned about lack up upgradability this SFF presents.
