Recommendations for Long Battery Life Laptop - Budget $1000

Hi all long time lurker first time poster in the forums.

I work long hours as a paramedic currently doing doing a cert IV TAE and I need to get my online learning done whilst on road.

Looking for a laptop that's-

•Not too flimsy (not toughbook or getec strong)
•Around the $1K mark
•Around 8hr battery life (I have the ability to charge inside the ambulance with the inverter)
•Used for word processing and connecting to online learning platforms
•Not fussed with storage- will use USB stick or online drives
•Nice typing experience (very subjective…I know, but backlit is must)

Thank you in advance, really appreciate it

As a lifetime PC user, i'd still vote for an M1 Macbook Air. Should be able to get a near-new one for that. Or go new new for peace of mind.

    • That was… surprisingly helpful JV

Alot can be said for Chromebooks for what you want.

Big in education cos they are cheap, generally well built and designed to run all day.

You can get them in a variety of formats including 2 in 1 and detachable.
Just check with your course to make sure there is no special software.

Use your ears: The more quiet it is the longer it will go.
High speed fans require also periodic cleaning.

Has anyone mentioned the M1 Air yet? :-P — hands down incredible real-world battery life. Far better than even an iPad!

Since no wants seems to be mentioning it, the MB Air M1 is a decent option; can find second hand/refurbed ones on eBay for $800-$1K.

  • Thanks for everyone's replies. I think I'll suss out a few chromebooks for the time being whilst looking out for an M1 MB air
