$2 Lebara SIM Card for $1 (50% off, Recharge Not Required on PAYG Plan & Port-In Number via Telephone Request) @ Woolworths

150

I personally love these cards as I use them to port to boost monthly.

You'll have to do the port over the phone to bypass selecting a plan and paying extra.

  • Could you explain your modus operandi in a bit more detail? Why would you need to port your monthly Boost to those Lebara cards?..

    • +3

So he can go back to boost again after switching to Lebara temporarily, perhaps even just for 15 mins or so. And after 28 days, do it again. It's a good system!

    • +5

      Boost > Lebara > Boost

Rinse and repeat using the profit cashrewards/shopback deals.

      • So, the way I do it is: I just buy a Boost card every month. I just don't understand why you would need to port? Is it so that you have a permanent mobile phone number to give to people?
Can you not just use a regular Lebara sim and just pay $10 a year to maintain it?..
Or is it how you make it work with a single sim mobile phone?..

        • Can you can't port from boost to boost, you need to port to a new carrier.

The boost sims last 28 days with 65gb of data on the Telstra network.

          • @Mike444: Why is there a need to port? Why can you not just use a mobile number that comes with the Boost sim card?

            • +3

@Musiclover: Why would I want to change my number every month? I've had the same number for 15+ years

              • +3

@Mike444: Oh I see… That's the hoops that you need to jump through if you have a single sim mobile phone. All I do is to run a dual sim phone: I accept phone calls and sometimes send SMS from Lebara, and do bulk of the calls from Boost. To avoid any confusion with the numbers I just put a "no caller ID" setting. I need it for work anyway. Same thing, same number for the last 13 years.

            • +2

@Musiclover: The sims are a starter pack, not a recharge sim.

              • @Mike444: Still, I don't fully understand how your system works. So you get this new SIM card. It comes with it's own Lebara number. You port your Boost to that new Lebara sim card. Why not to port it to your old Lebara sim? Why the need to buy this?..

        • "Can you not just use a regular Lebara sim and just pay $10 a year to maintain it?"

Lebara has 1 year expiry Sim for $10?

    Monthly !

    That's true dedication

He is not the only one here!

  • Dont we need to recharge it to activate?

    • You can bypass it by porting over the phone, cannot be done online.

      • how long does that take?

        • +1

can take 5m or over an hour

          avg is like 10-15m

          • @Mike444: I do recall reading somewhere on OzB that one had to port out for at least a plan cycle (28 days) or even 30 days before being accepted to port back to boost as a new customer? But I guess if this so called 15min or so is tried and proven then hooray!

            • @phil08: Yep i did it today, took less than 10m

              • @Mike444: So I have to port from Boost to Leb first (online) and then Call Lebara to port back to boost?

                • @Ehty: @mike444 mate can you confirm , I want to give this a try today!

  • Wow you're truly OzB KING

  • You'd better hope the boost profit deals haven't dried up.

      or something went wrong

      • Yes, i will lose my shite if that happens again.

  • When having this physical SIM is there anyway to use that as eSIM?

  • how much do you need to "paying extra"?

why dont you buy the $4 sim,?

    thanks

    • You're using the telephone request to bypass paying extra.

That would be cutting into your sweet profits.

      • Do you have to speak to an ESL human for the bypass?

        • +1

34mins in call and and no one responds!

          • @Ehty: My call took 23 minutes.

  • I do this once every year, by getting the boost year plan.
It comes down to how much data you actually use. I work from home and I am happy with ~10gb/month.

  • +1

how long can the number last without topping up ?

    • You're in luck, because I accidently let this happen recently…. and I believe it was maybe a month, 2 months at most. It's dead and I lost the number to the telephony Gods.

I would like to use a sim for a new number and to receive sms (E.g for chatgpt) and use it for wifi but don't want to Port my existing number or out of my services. Would this sim be appropriate?

  • Do we have to top up and pay to activate? I want a new number no porting
    Cheers

    • To activate? No

      To use? Yes.

  • Seems you cant activate for $0 if choosing a new number.

    • Did you try over the phone?

  • Nope, is that possible to do?

    • I specifically wrote it in the post description

Sorry, I meant was it possible to activate sim as a new number over phone without recharge
