1 Hour Connecting Flight at Changi

Hi planning to travel Per to Bangkok. Connecting at Changi with 1 hour connecting time, is it possible?

Or is it better to get the 3 hour connecting flight?

Will SQ put me up at the next connecting flight if the first leg (Per to SIN) is delayed?

Thank you everyone

    Yes, maybe, yes.

      This.

Plus, generally speaking they will hold the plane for a bit while waiting for you (as long as your not delayed by anything)

And Singapore airport + Singapore air = They will almost definitely have ground staff waiting at your gate as soon as you disembark your first flight and whisk you through to your connection.

This! I’ve done the one hour airport change in change many a time and this is exactly what happens

Book it and unless something terrible goes wrong with your inbound flight there will be no issues getting your connecting one, esp. if you’re on SIA

For me I would prefer 3 hours and even then I would class that as bare minimum.

    Which airlines?

    • Singapore Airline

      • Signapore airlines are the best

      • Ok, thats good - least likely to suffer delays. However, you have to allow for gate changes, especially on Australian flights. While Changi has the train to get around, it's still time consuming coming off a plane, transferring between say T1 >T3 and reboarding.

Give yourself time - you wont get bored in 3 hours

Yes, minimum transit is 45 mins at Changi.

  • I say go for the 1 hour. 👍

  • I only ever had one missed approach coming into Singapore, but it added 30 minutes onto the flight. People in front of me were panicking.

Are you booking these legs in one booking? If so, are you booking directly with the airline, or via third party?

If you are making one booking direct with the airline and their system is the one that is suggesting both the 1hr and 3hr options, then yes they’ll sort you out if something happens.

But just keep in mind, if something does happen, and the flight in 3hrs is booked out, you’ll have to wait even longer. It’s the next available connecting flight, not just the next one.

  • Changi is a great airport. I’d take as long of a layover as possible, and enjoy the Jewel.

  • Is it same terminal or different? 1 hour is very doable but if there are delays then you will have to spend extra time at the airport for next flight.
Just for peace of mind you can go for 3 hours.

  • Definitely possible, and SQ will put you on the next available flight if your PER-SIN is delayed. However it's worth taking the longer transit just to spend some time in Changi, plus it means you won't be worrying the whole flight wondering if you'll make it in time.

  • If would prefer 3 hours so I can explore Jewel. That place looks sick…

Jewel is a large shopping mall with a couple of play areas. The fountain is pretty cool and there are some other nice time wasting areas, the butterfly cage etc. But you wont miss very much, other than a lot of shops which are the same shops you can find everywhere else in the world.

As much as SQ will rebook you as long as the flight is on the same ticket, these 1 hour transits really puts people in anxiety/panic mode trying to get to the next flight.

If there is the 3 hour option, I would rather do that. Take your time and enjoy Changi during your transit. Changi is one of those airports where you won’t get bored at.

  • There are worse places than Changi to spend a couple of hours. (It ain't 1942!)

OTOH, there are so many flights SIN->BKK that missing one will not be a problem.
Obviously, don't put anything vital in your checked bags, but that applies always.

We are also travel on SIA in June. I had a 1 hour and 4 hour option. I went for the four hour. I wanted to see the Jewel, and spend some time in the lounge before heading out again. As others have said, ground staff with be waiting outside to expedite the transfer. But remember, the aircraft boarding finishes 20 minutes before departure. So, it is not even 60 minutes.

  • It is designed to take you there but anything can happen.
