40% off. That's $2.16/bar S&S or $2.40/bar standard. Usually $48/box ($4/bar). Your choice of flavours: chocolatey Fudged Up or disappointing Birthday Cake. Just saying.

Fudged Up: 232 calories, 20g protein, 1.7g sugar
Birthday Cake: 212 calories, 20g protein, 1.6g sugar, annoying sprinkles

Notes: Packaging no longer says "Carb Killa" so that's not in the title. Sweetened with maltitol (sugar alcohol with half the energy of sugar). Generally too much for the keto folks, but makes for a more convincing treat than many protein bars. Too much maltitol has a laxative effect. One bar a day perhaps.

Serious question, why not just have a couple boiled eggs with non of the nasty stuff

    • +7

That’s like asking why drink soft drink when you could just have water

      • Or 2 spoon of sugar…

      • Not really. Typically your eating these for the protien with it being looked at as being healthy not thinking about what else could be in it. With soft drink you knowingly are drinking them for no benifit other then flavour.

Wrong. I drink diet soft drink because it tastes good and is low calories. It has just as much “nasty stuff”.

Just like I eat protein bars because it has protein, low-ish calories and tastes good. Are there better protein options? Sure but it tastes good.

Variety and convenience. I've been restricting calories for a couple of months while doing a lot of cycling (aiming at weight loss, down 7kg so far with 6kg to go). After a long ride these are a good reward compared with a couple of boiled eggs. I do also eat eggs sometimes. Edit: These are also good if you're a chocoholic restricting calories. Eating one of these occasionally instead, I've lost my craving for actual chocolate.

        Yeah fair enough. Hybrid treat/protein

For me, one of the reasons is portability.

Because you'd need to eat 3 eggs to get roughly the same protein as one of these bars, can you imagine how much you'd come to hate boiled eggs trying to eat three of them post-workout every day versus being able to rotate through different flavours of bars or shakes?

    • +1

Because I already eat boiled eggs and need something extra rather than eating heaps eggs throughout the day.

I treat these things the same as a protein shake. A supplement to the food. Sometimes these things work out cheaper

      Junk tastes good.

Missed it, everything is either out of stock or on a backorder. :(

    birthday cake flavour any good?

    • +1

It's OK. I don't particularly like it (it's no match for actual cake) and the multi-coloured sprinkles tend to be mostly detached and go everywhere, but it's a useful protein bar the same as the others. As you might be able to tell from the description, I much prefer the chocolatey ones. It took me a long time to get through a box of the birthday cake ones… I kept them in the fridge and took one out before my workout (in the garage with no aircon), so it was nearing room temperature by the time I needed it rather than melting in the heat like me.

Does it go boom in your stomach

Think the grenade is in the toilet if you have too many

      • I thought that would be from a good curry

Protein bars do have a laxative effect if you take multiple, quite sure it's even on the packaging
