If you're picking up in Melbourne for free sure, it's 136 shipping to Sydney. But I already own a pair.

These are chinese mass manufactured dumbells, you can get them on alibaba customised if you want a specific colour.

If you don't live in Melbourne Kogan's shipping is 57 to Syd and the dumbells themselves are cheaper at 482.

    • My only worry is the quality of the dumbbells, these powertrain dumbbells have a lot of reviews compared to the Kogan ones.

  • Man I paid $340 ish delivered for basically something super similar via kogan, end of 2022 and still thought it was expensive for what it is haha

Yeah that seems to be the only other 2x40kg dumbbell deal on here. Wish I could've bought it for that price but they're all so expensive nowadays.

    2x40kg

Do you even bicep curl? I'll wait for the 2x60kg deal.

Oh I thought each dumbbell weighed 80kgs. 40kgs what's the point of lifting that? My nan could lift that and she's dead.

Mine looks identical to these and I got mine for ~$320 delivered off eBay.

Now that I've used it for a while, I wouldn't recommend it. The plates wobble a bit in the tray so it's a PITA to get the dumbbells back in. I usually need to use my other hand to align the plates properly. They're also huge compared to dumbbells you see in gyms so some exercises might feel clunky.

        What would you recommend instead?

        • No idea, mate. If I knew, I'd sell this on gumtree and get that instead lol

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I have these and highly recommend if you need dumbbells this heavy. They also come with a stand as well. I also have Powerblock U90's which are 40kg each and would say that these are adequate for most people. Its really easy to change the weight and takes a few seconds.

Most of these cheaper adjustable dumbbells aren't meant to be lifted over head which limits the amount of exercises you can use them for. The Powerblocks can be used overhead and can tolerate a little bit of abuse although I have never dropped mine personally.

I have ironmasters. They are 55kg a handle (60 if I ever get around to putting the heavy handle kit on), can be expanded to 80, and will outlive the heat death of the universe.

@jjcf: I have the same. Much more durable than the adjustable ones (my brother in law got the Kogan deal), BUT switching weights, although ok, is no where near as quick/easy.

Trading off durability for bulkier, less durable, but faster cmweight change times

        • Sets of hex pairs, everything else is a compromise.

Except on price! There's satisfaction in slowly accumulating a collection of your own at a fraction of new prices from resellers who don't have your discipline 😏

      • I have Ativafit, slightly different design but still get plate wobble. Comes with a useful stand that holds the plates in place to make it easy to slot in and out. Dumbells are pretty long though to accommodate the plates. However I also wouldn't recommend this brand either.

    • 💯
Marketplace is flooded with people's weights who thought they could jacked during summer. Much cheaper to buy there.

I would almost get these just to see the delivery guy try and drop them off. Maybe ordering x2 would be too much 😆

I felt bad for the poor overseas truck driver, didn’t sign up to get paid min wage and do his back trying to lift 40kg with his back…

  • Do people really use these things, or do they buy them to turn into dusty junk piles in the garage?

    • Have a look on marketplace and you’ll find the answer to your question.
