This is a historical low. Games are cheaper on CDKeys if you pay in USD. In AUD the game is $5.99.

I like the mediaeval "Germany" setting; a long time ago I played a wonderful DOS RPG called Darklands which was also set in the "Holy Roman Empire". You could travel to any major historical town you wanted, though the towns weren't that different from one another, just a series of 2D images. It had a "low magic" setting: there were prayers (you had to research the saints first) and alchemy (applying or throwing potions in combat), some mythological creatures and stereotypical witches (definitely not modern Wicca). There were also primitive firearms that were fun to use. The game had an interesting armour penetration system.

Once you get the hang of the combat system, definitely one of the best games in recent years.

For the uninitiated, keep at the tutorial quests in the first full settlement you reach until you learn a combat skill called 'perfect block'. Without learning this, combat can be frustrating and might put you off the game.

Also, continue the main quest line until you get a horse - this will also greatly improve your ability to run from fights if you need to.
