@randomusername2017: Is there a right side of Bankstown?

            • +1

@darkly: Any road leading out is good I guess .
But they seem to have more BBQs on the Padstow side.

          • @randomusername2017: What does wrong side of a suburb mean?

Like can the demographics of a certain street in a suburb have wide and vast differences compared to the rest of the suburb?

            • @ATTS: Moreso just a flippant comment yagoona Vs say.. Lakemba.

Bankstown is actually not that bad as a whole, it's just gained a reputation for certain activities.

Just like trying to define the latte line I suppose.

You gotta love these cops, they know it wasn't a hate crime, so what was it then?

      • +6

        A burglary?

        • +3

You don't normally firebomb a place, and what are they burgling? The till?

So the owner of Caufuield Burgertory owns/owned EZYMart stores in Melbourne. Part of their business is selling vapes and tobacco, one would speculate that he may have been targeted because of the recent tobacco wars in Melb. It's kind of ironic though he has a video of some vodcast 3 days before the store burnt down where he states that "Forget about the Middle East, lets talk about Australia. Look at all the people burning each others' shops down. They're all Arabs. The Arabs are burning other Arab shops down". https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iCQDhhS0Cek

        • +3

Interesting, the article in The Age about this said that one of the arsonists also burned down a tobacconist store in Bendigo

        • -1

priceless self awareness from the owner. Then he caused an anti Jewish riot blaming Jews for burning his business. Habib Musa has been charged with the crime. He can take his discount, lm not buying.

      • +1

        Love crime

      • Same guy also owns ezymarts that sell cigarettes.

The offender that firebombed the restaurant is also charged with firebombing a tobacconist.

Theres a middle eastern gang war going on re the control of the illegal tobacco trade.

Police were almost instant with declaring they were pretty sure it wasnt hate crime related.

The owner wears red sneakers unironically.

        You do the math.

    • That's why it's striked out in the description. Duh.

  • +1

"To redeem you must order online" - cannot see Yagoona NSW in location to order from.

  • +1
  • +10

    What are they proud of?

    • +4

      relish

      • +13

Surviving the shit other people have subjected them to.

        Because of their burgers?

      • Has their CEO apologised yet about causing the riots and about what he said about Jewish people?

        • -3

Actually he pointed out that his employees had previously been subjected to a lot of abuse so the assumption was pretty reasonable. I’m sure if the position was reversed the owner would’ve been claiming the attack was antisemitic. It is just the way things are at the moment.

          • +10

@try2bhelpful: He also kept blaming the Jewish community for burning down his shop even though the police kept saying they weren’t involved.

          • +1

@try2bhelpful: Slight difference is the reverse would be much more likely to be true.

            • @McFly: Islamophobia is pretty common. Look at how the main stream is reporting what is happening. I would suggest it is much more common than antisemitism.

              • @try2bhelpful: That's laughable.

                • @McFly: Actually it is more tragic than laughable.

                  • +1

@try2bhelpful: Really? Do Islamic schools, places of worship, institutions, etc. need permanent armed security, walls, community security?
Do they get daubed with swastikas, death threats, etc. on a weekly basis?
Do leaders and other people celebrate in the streets when Muslims are killed?
Do religious leaders give weekly sermons about wiping out Muslims?

The biggest source of 'Islamophobia' worldwide is Muslims.

                    try2bcredible!

                    • +1

                      @McFly: And… no response. Typical.

        • +3

He actually had told people not to attend the rally also

          • +2

            @Jackson:

He actually had told people not to attend the rally also

Whilst at the same time blaming the Jewish community for his shop burning down at every opportunity to the media.

            • -3

@jv: And, as I indicated, if the establishment had been owned by someone who was Jewish they would’ve said antisemitism.

            • -2

@jv: Didn't he also go to the Gaza border to feed Hamas

        • -1

You aren't allowed to appreciate the positives of woke culture on ozbargain. Home of the down to earth battler with very little exposure to the things woke culture defends and very little empathy or desire to understand.

The burger name is pretty cynical and shallow though. The franchise owner is very conservative.

    • -6

      Their immorality

    • Surely not their frozen grey mass produced patties? Cos Grilld is fukn gross compared to real burger joints.

  • Pick up doesnt seem to be working on their online ordering system (nsw).

  • +5

Would the burgers pair well with these?

  • +6

How has so much comment gone on without anyone asking for the price in the title?

  • +1

    Price in title

  • How come half the stores mentioned by the OP don’t appear in the drop down box (vicco), and the search box is a dead end?

  • Are these any good? Rate grilld even with the controversies

    • +3

I've been once several months ago and I'm pretty sure I had the Pride burger. There was absolutely nothing special about it at all. The wagyu patty seemed like a standard beef or Angus patty, and with Grill'd or YOMG you have herbed mayos or secret sauces that are more unique, this burger only has a standard mayo in it (from what I can recall).

I rate Grill'd higher and YOMG leagues ahead of these guys.

      • +2

Just another wannabe gourmet burger shop desperately trying to compete with Grill'd. They won't last very long. Tried it once when they first opened, never again. Overpriced and lacklustre.

      • So now million dollar question is whether it’s worth $7.50 to try it once.

        • +1

Hmm if you set your expectations for it to be a pretty stock standard burger that's not amazing but made with (hopefully) fresh ingredients, I would say yes.

  • +1

    Nice buns!

  • +31

It's equally amazing and sad how triggered a particular cohort of shallow thinking OzBargainers can get by the name of a burger.

If you look at the menu, it shows a number of burgers named after the 7 deadly sins eg gluttony, lust, greed etc.

    And guess what pride is?

    • +4

Without even clicking on the link I knew it probably wasn't the pride people were assuming

    • +1

Just had the sloth and gluttony last week. I thought they were pretty good. I would rate them higher than grill'd. I would ask them to sauce the sloth alittke but me next time though.

Their chips are very good, extra crispy and well seasoned.

    • +2

Beat me to it. Bunch of nuts from both sides losing their minds about what's just named after one of the 7 cardinal sins….

Maybe they should add a stoopid burger to the menu

    • +13

… common sense, then laws, then the future generations wondering how we were so daft and cruel.

    • are you talking about that cafe in melbourne that had higher prices for men that eventually shut down?

  • +1

Pink washing to jump on the Midsumma bangwagon?

  • +5

Tried their burgers last year and didn’t think much of them. Pretty basic and overpriced for what you get. The patty was thin and tasteless, the bun was stale. Would never go back.

    • +2

They really weren’t to my taste either.

  • Could have made it a combo with Golden Gaytime

  • +6

Honestly I don't know how these overpriced burger joints survive.

    • +2

I think these guys are on a slow decline. But they got this far because a) they rode the burger wave which has peaked imo and b) they are a franchise so as long as they can convince some cashed up rube that it's worth buying their store, then the central business holds out for as long as people find it convincing and throw their money at it while the owner laughs all the way to the bank.

  • Until you take your shoes
And go outside. stride over stride,
    Walk to that tide because
    The door is open wide.

  • +4

Of course burgertory is a play on the word purgatory and their burgers are named after the 7 deadly sins…. Pride being one of them.
