Strip out the hard drive from the casing, and you've got yourself a 2TB Seagate drive for ~$10 less than buying the internal drive on its own.

It's barely cheaper + you forfeit all warranty. Some shops are selling 2TB Seagates for $99, why would you even bother?

      • You get a free enclosure to use for another HDD, but the cost/compromise of warranty? You decide….

Anyone know what the drive inside is?

  • Sweet thanks. $99 shipped.

If only it was a 2.5" drive!

So is this the one that has the better ventilation? The later model? I remember reading there's a Seagate drive that has ventilation problems. It's not a square looking case like this…

    • I just looked at the bottom of the drive and there is like over 200 little ventilation holes

      • So I would have to use the drive upside down to have adequate ventilation than?

        • not really its got little feet

But heat rises and gets trapped inside…

  • Seagate expansion 2tb usb 3.0 superseded model is faster over WD My Book 2tb usb 3.0 and HP 2tb usb 3.0 But ran to hot for my liking.

This new model is smaller, cooler.slighty faster with the light (blue) mounted towards the back not so good.

And may l add it's good to see Demonoid returning setting up in china in the near future.

  • Seagate, pass.
