How do you play this without guitar

    • +2

There's a new Rock Band controller coming out from PDP called the Riffmaster. No word on local availability nor pricing yet.

Second option is to get the Rock Band 4-specific guitar controllers - the Jaguar or the Stratocaster.

Third option (if you have lots of money) is to get the Wireless Legacy adapter to connect Xbox 360 guitar controllers.

      • Whats the cheapest option?

        • Right now, the second option. However they are fairly pricey, fetching for over $180 on ebay.

            @silverrat23: Glad I grabbed a legacy adapter for $25 a few years ago :)

I've also got a Jag and Strat. Bought RB4 at launch for $299 for game and guitar only! Then got the Rivals full band in a box on sale for $99 a couple of years later :)

PS4 version is probably cheaper to get going because you can use PS3 guitars and they don't go for as much on ebay. The problem with second hand guitars is they almost always have something wrong with them and need to be repaired

    • The game also supports vocals by plugging in 3.5mm earbuds (with a mic) to the Xbox One controller.

      • Wired USB mics work too if you want a bit more length.

        • +3

We all want a bit more length

  • i need to know where to get the Guitar now

There is a new guitar controller called the Riffmaster which is scheduled to be released in Autumn but very limited details at the moment (no price, no pre-order date).

  • This might come to gamepass?

    • +1

Very unlikely IMO. I wouldn't wait for another price drop.

    • Guitar Hero if we're reeeeeeeeeeally (profanity) lucky with the ABK buyout. Epic owns RB these days AFAIK

  • I have the original Rockband instruments still (Xbox 360 I believe?) any chance these work with this on XSX? lol

    • +1

not without the legacy adapter, which is rare and goes for a fortune on ebay

      • :'(

Doesn't the roll limitless adapter now allow it without the legacy adapter?

        • +1

I did some digging with the Roll Limitless but it seems to just be for drums?

        • oh yeah, I looked into that a while ago, but there was a huge waiting list to buy one because it was a one man operation making them all by hand :D

I wanted to use 360/Xbox One gear on my PS4

      • Brook Wingman XB 2 Converter - Wireless Controller Adapter for Xbox Consoles and PC, Supports Remap and Adjustable Turbo https://amzn.asia/d/7GmWRPL

        • This will allow xbox 360 wireless RB4 guitars to work on an xbox one? Youve tested it?

          • @Belot: I dont know was throwing it out there if anyone knew.

        • Doubtful this works for guitar, exercise caution

I want to pull the trigger but I can't without waiting for more concrete details about the Riffmaster. Will be great to play on a modern console!

Clone Hero will scratch most itches. It's free, thousands of songs and works with heaps of accessories.

  • I got 2 guitars, the drums and a microphone (and the phycial game too)
does anybody know what that would be worth?

    • +1

Quite a bit if you sell as a bundle. Drums around $300-400, guitars around $200-300 each.

I have 2 guitars, drums, and 2 mics, and have a blast with the kids and wife. We have several band groups within the family haha

  • is it compatible with the rock band drum kit and guitars for the ps3? its all usb

    • Rock Band 4 is backwards compatible with PS3 era accessories on PS4/5. Unfortunately doesn’t work like that for Xbox systems.

      • its usb though?

        • The lack of compatibility is on Microsoft's end, that's why the Xbox 360 instruments require the legacy adaptor, which for some reason is very rare and expensive. Even the USB instruments won't work just by plugging them in.

If you do get it I wouldn't mess around mulling over buying particular DLC. They announced recently they are not doing any more song releases so not sure how things will go with license renewals to keep them on store.

    • That’s a good point. Given a lot of older songs came and went (tho some came back) people should get what they want as soon as they can.

Did some research and see you can now make your own Roll Limitless using a couple of RPI Pico boards to connect your old controllers.

Gonna buy this now to upgrade my jams from x360.
