Can anyone compare this with open chat- GPT

    • Quick Google search turns up this interesting tidbit (only uploaded 12 hours ago)

While I can't directly compare myself to OpenAI's ChatGPT as we are both under development and constantly evolving, I can share some information about our key differences and similarities to help you make your own comparison:

      Similarities:

      • Large language models: Both ChatGPT and I are large language models (LLMs) trained on massive amounts of text data. This allows us to generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.

      • Conversational: We are both designed to be conversational and can engage in open-ended dialogue. We can ask clarifying questions, admit mistakes, and adapt our responses based on the context of the conversation.

      • Free to use: Both ChatGPT and I are currently available for free, although usage restrictions and pricing models may change in the future.

      Differences:

      • Underlying technology: While both models are LLMs, we are based on different architectures and training data. This can lead to differences in our strengths and weaknesses.

      • Focus: ChatGPT is specifically designed for conversational AI, while I have a broader range of capabilities, including information retrieval and knowledge reasoning.

      • Availability: ChatGPT is currently in research preview, while I am in a more advanced development stage.
Accuracy and factuality: Both models are still under development, so it's important to remember that our responses may not always be accurate or factual. You should always check information from any LLM against other sources.

Ultimately, the best way to compare ChatGPT and me is to try both and see which one you prefer for your specific needs. Both models are constantly learning and improving, so it's worth revisiting your comparison later to see how we've evolved.

      I hope this information helps!

  • Does Microsoft offer similar discounts for AI to paid Office 365 subscribers.

Copilot does not seems to be identical to the real GPT 4

    • Students can get Azure credits which I believe you can use against the Azure OpenAI endpoints.
When you say real "GPT 4", assume you mean ChatGPT 4, yes you are 100% correct.
Not even the official GPT4 API is the same as GPT Plus.
On-top of the additional features the Chat Web interface does some behind the scenes prompt manipulation and the underlying API used by Chat GPT is different.

Heads up for anyone already on an annual One plan note the AI plans are monthly only, so to switch I believe you'll forfeit any remaining time on your annual.

    • +3

Also, if you have family sharing enabled, only the Family manager gets Gemini Advanced. Other members who want to get Gemini Advanced, will have to leave the family group and start an independent Google One AI plan.

    • +2

The remaining value left on your existing annual plan is converted to additional "free" time on the AI plan when you switch.

      • Sorry, what does this mean?

So if I have 6 months on my annual 2TB plan, does that meant I have 6 months of "free" time on AI premium?

        • +4

It doesn't appear to be 1:1 time, it's some kind of credit per remaining day system.

      • Thanks, that's more reasonable.

  • +1

Does anyone know if you can sign up and cancel straight away without losing the trial ?

    • +2

Unfortunately not. Just set a reminder in your calendar to cancel!

    • I did this and did not lose the trial

  • -1

So what are the practical uses of this?

  • +6

What are the odds of paying this one in TL₺? wink wink ;)

    • It works TRY 719.99 per month after the trial period.

      • +3

I may be wrong be isn't that more expensive than the Australian price when converted to AUD?

        • You're very right, didn't even notice that.

        • But it might not be after the 2 month trial 😂

  • +1

Please note you do NOT get the 10% store benefit during the trial period, and you will be locked there unless you upgrade to a 5TB+ plan

    • I can see the 10% store benefit in my Google One App - Clicking on "Claim benefit" takes to the Google Store page with the "Get 10% back in credit" banner under the store price. Is it different for you?

      • Mine is listed under "upcoming benefits", saying it will become available after the 2 trial months pass. I also don't see the store credit when adding something in the cart.

        • I upgraded from the 100GB tier which did not have the 10% benefit. Maybe that is the reason?

          • @aj3000: Not really sure either, I signed up from no plan. Talked to live chat and they confirmed that it's not available during trial and that the only way out of the trial is to upgrade or wait 2 months, because apparently they can't cancel a trial. Or, you know, just use another account.

  • If this also available for those of us living in Turkey who have Google one discounted pricing?

    • +1

Just checked my Turkish account, and no bueno :(

      edit:
It's 719.99TLR/month (~36AUD) for Gemini advanced for Turkish accounts

      • Saving -3AUD

        A Turkish user's lodging a complaint to Google…

      • Hmm interesting. That means if living in Turkey, the 4TB AI plan (49.99 TRY 2TB Plan [if applicable] + 32.99 AUD 2TB AI Plan) is still cheaper than the original 719.99 TRY 2TB AI Plan.

  • Does the Google Play store count as the Google Store in regards to the 10% credits?

  • You can pay with the discounted Google play credit you bought at Coles.

  • +1

I can't get this to work, it's saying 'Talk to your plan manager'.

I am my Family Plan Manager.

    • Same issue here.

      • +1

It turns out I was the Family Manager but not the Plan Manager. I was paying for a subscription using one of the other accounts in the family, not my main account.

        I hope this helps.

  • If the Android app is not available in Australia, then not useful yet. Can Apple users on their numerous platforms (iOS/pad/watch/Mac/…) use it?
I think Google is using some advanced AI equivalent to GPT 3.5+

  • i pay for GPT 4, so this is a better option. From the looks of it, in terms of writing and creativity, it's way better.

  • More energy hungry data centres and for what?

  • I dunno, as someone that uses CGPT API chat a lot (and pay ~$10 AUD for latest beta models), this seems too exy to me.

Obvs can see it worth it for many, but I'd expect more storage (at least ~5tb) at this price point.

    • is that $10 AUD per month? I assume that you find using the API is cheaper than the $30 AUD per month for GPT plus?

      • Yes and yes (why I went with API).

        • Depends on your use case,
          - API's are not the same as ChatGPT Plus. Entirely different models, memory and features like "Search, GPTs ect.".
          - API's don't have memory so a novice who does not start new conversations can quickly rack-up a huge bill and also result in hallucinations. A good ChatBot service will attempt to clone the ChatGPT prompts for a similar experience.
In classified, for almost a year now, for a single $8pm, I have been offering combined ChatBot Service (30+ Premium Models), Midjourney Web and "Chat PLT Plus", including GPT access, Dalle-3. Basically sharing the costs of AI services with fellow members. I think it more of a community service, as API costs can be huge.

  • Does it count as plagiarism by copying from GPT ;)

    • Depends on the original prompt and how many times you refine the output.

      • if you copy and paste a sentence (10 words) from GPT

  • Find a footage based on a hand drawing. Interesting.
