I just noticed that the amazing Aerobie Aeropress coffee maker is on one of its rare deep discounts at Amazon.com.

Normally is is US$25.95 plus shipping. I've been waiting for this to come on special and have jumped on the offer. For those not familiar with it, see :

I guess you can save a few dollars more if you have one of those currency-conversion fee free credit cards (I don't).

Enjoy!

  • Yep. Good price for one of these.

If this works as well as their rings throw then it must be good.

I'm sure they do. Just don't get those items mixed up.

just noticed my camelcamelcamel alert for this! came to list!

make sure you don't follow the Aeropress instructions when making a coffee - do something like this:http://www.marketlane.com.au/brewingguide.asp?guideID=889

Combine with a hand grinder for an awesome portable setup - http://www.amazon.com/Kyocera-CM-50-CF-Ceramic-Grinder/dp/B0… (not a very cheap price at the moment. I got this for $43.99) There is also a slim small grinder (Hario) that fits in the handle of the Aeropress.

    • Sorry … the camels alerted me too :) Thanks for the link to marketlane.

I'm not really after a portable, just an easy to clean alternative to a press for single cups at home. I'm using the BigW Sunbeam Grinder ( http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77741 ) from a couple of months ago.

      • sorry for what?

    • Got the alert from camelcamelcamel also. Didn't realise that I had some left over gift credit in my account either, order came to the grand total of $0.19! :D

  • This is a great product… highly recommended. easy to take travelling too.

  • How many paper filters do they come with ?
Is it a better idea to buy the metal filter ?
    http://www.amazon.com/Aeropress-Stainless-Steel-Coffee-Filte…

    • Comes with 350 papers. Most opinion I read leaned towards the papers because they are cheap and easier cleanup (and apparently they are easy to rinse off if you wanted to make more than one cup)

    • Also, read here for reviews discussing the metal disc versus filter papers

  • I've had one of these for two years and it's just brilliant. The timing of this deal is impeccable - the rubber seal on the plunger of mine has worn out after ~1000 cups of coffee. I've ordered two (shipping is AUS$18.50) so I can have another one for two years time.

I got a replacement rubber seal from the always excellent 'A League Of Honest Coffee' in little lonsdale st, melbourne. Cost me about 6-7 bucks.

  • I watched the instructional video and noticed there is no crema produced. Surely this will detract from the flavour (I currently use an expresso machine) - or am I missing something?

    • Isn't crema what is coming out at the end of the plunge? - the video makes it look pretty good to be honest.

      • Yes, I agree there is some crema at the end; however, it appears to be a very small amount compared to what is produced by an expresso machine. Anyway, I guess if it results in a full-flavoured cup of coffee then it probably doesn't matter.

  • Is it really better than plunger coffee, or is that just marketing hype?

    • It really is. My coffee evolution followed this path:
instant (International roast) -> instant (anything else) -> plunger -> drip filter -> cheap espresso machine -> aeropress + blade grinder -> more expensive espresso machine with conical burr grinder (sunbeam em6910 and em0480)

I still use the aeropress every day at work with coffee I grind at home on the sunbeam grinder.

somewhere in there was a step from supermarket coffee to local roaster coffee too. That also made a huge difference.

  • I wasn't aware of Amazon's frustration-free product packaging so ended up ordering mine from eBay a while ago. This is a great product at a great price. Also using the Sunbeam EM0480 grinder (http://ozbargain.com.au/node/77741) and experimenting with soy milk (http://ozbargain.com.au/node/82472). Now only to get hold of some good beans and a milk frother.

    • Aldi's $25 Expressi milk frother is serving me quite well at work at the moment with my aeropress.

  • Wow, that price drop was over quickly!

  • Received mine today. This thing is awesome, great coffee and zero grounds in the cup compared to the press.

Thanks OP! Oh yeah, I forgot, that was me :)
