Thanks op ordered one 100L bin for Garage, useful to empty rubbish from the car. Free delivery using Onepass.

    • I think they have changed this now

    Cheers got 3x240L

  • Cheers got a 240L for cans/bottles. The clips things that hold the lid onto the bin is a bit average. They seem to come out easily which is annoying, as wheeling it from the car to the garage the lid almost fell off because of it. But for $50 can't complain.

    • I had the same issue today until I followed some advice in a previous comment. Check the clips for a bit that should stick out, and then line that up with a hole it is meant to poke out of when you push the clip / pin in :). Fixed the issue for me.

      • Oh you're a legend. I will have a look at it tomorrow. The bin was already assembled at Bunnings so I just thought it was just crap.

        • I was kind of forced to check since when I showed up to collect mine one of the pins was missing, they had a look and found it laying around somewhere so I had to play around to put it in :)

Absolute bargain - thanks OP. Got 2x 240L bins to collect cans/bottles and palm leaves

240L is ideal for flushing the outboard. Custom saw job to one corner at the top and fits perfectly. Hose flushes are problematic as too much leakage to get the flow up to thermostat housing to make it open and flush properly.

  • great for compost

    • +2

careful, unless youre drilling holes in it, expect it to go anaerobic. I had to store clippings in our green bin while I made room and in only 3 days it started to rot

      • Anaerobic composting is faster than the old way, although it can stink a bit.

    • +1

Yeah I've been thinking a wheelie bin is infinitely better value than compost bins. Way more space, can wheel it around, and just need to poke some holes in the top (maybe top edges to keep out rain). Could maybe even mix it by rolling the bin over on an angle, so long as the wheels aren't being abused too much.

      • That would be the ideal, but at $400 it's pretty steep.

        • We got ours through our council. It was cheaper than that.

          https://compostrevolution.com.au/yarra/order/customise/wormf…

          • @try2bhelpful: Yeah some councils have rebates though ours doesn't unfortunately. That being said these bins will hold way more than just compost bins and presumably do the same job or better.

e.g. The extra size seems like it would give enough room for the compost to reach hot compost temperatures.

@CodeExplode: We’ve had the stacked shelf worm farms in the past and this works a lot better.

              • +1

@try2bhelpful: Yeah I'm tempted by worm farms. The $400 wheelie bin worm farm which narrows as it goes down to compress the compost and keep the worms moving up, and which you collect compost from the bottom, is super appealing, but super pricy.

                • +1

@CodeExplode: Find someone with a council that gives you a discount and buy through them. We’ve had a couple of the stacked ones and they always warp. The wheelie bin one seems to last.

  • So if I buy one of these to use as a green bin, they would not collect because it does have the official green lid and I'm not paying for it?

What if I placed it in front of my neighbor's house who does pay for 1 green bin collection?

  • Damn, no blue or yellow bins, just the green. Is the green colour the same as what councils use?

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this but these are a great solution to capturing your grey water! Goes in through the top and then you can drill a hole down the bottom and rig up a hose kit with a hose (we use a weeper one) to water the grass/plants! Not supposed to use on food plants, and use septic safe low phosphate soap

  • the handles aren't great on these bins. they've got some sort of texture on the underside of the handles (i presume for grip) which i find quite uncomfortable

  • I use these for my ice bath, add on a beer tap and it's pretty good. My coworkers don't like it though, but I'm.used to the smell.by now.

  • Genuinely curious what they're handy for. I just put a perfectly good blue one out to be collected as hard rubbish

  • I got 2 blue ones in the last deals. One for old clothes we use for shed rags… three growing kids filled that pretty fast and one for old sheets and towels for when I'm painting or for laying on when I service the car. Got one green one yesterday for filling with the kids lego instead of the 3 or 4 big tubs taking up my shed space and I'm heading back to get two more. One for hay for the chook bedding and one for me to use around the yard for clippings and stuff for the fire pit. Holds more than the wheel barrow and easier to use.

  • Just picked one up from Mentone Bunnings. Was strange that ticket still had a $139 pricetag in it so had to check website price.
And had to remember to get the wheels that were in a different spot.

Just asked. this expires on the 18th.

  • Good bin but looks likr it is expired

  • I see the special has ended now and the price for the 240L bin is now $68.90 - OP was the full price of $139 listed in your post correct….just curious.

The price for the 100L bin has reverted back to $89 dollars as per your post.

I collected my bins this morning - just need to put them together now.

  • Ok so today I finally got around to putting the bins together.

This is all I've got to attach the lids on each one - https://imgur.com/ipz3q6p

They appear to be only end caps from the handles. I take it I'm missing some parts….surely these aren't used for attaching the lids to the bin? Can someone please confirm and / or include a photo of your bin if I'm indeed missing parts.

    • I decided to go back down to my nearest Bunnings to check the bins out there. My click and collect order was missing these - https://imgur.com/a/4F4IK9J

      • +1

yeah, you need to make sure you get everything. when inserting, tab goes downward (there is a cut out in handle to lock in the tab)

        • Yep I saw that in the review comments on the Bunnings webpage.

The staff member that served me at the click & collect assured me everything was there….oh well, all sorted now!
