Icoo have released a low cost and high performance Android 4.1 tablet. It's the first 7" tablet equipped with a dual core RK3066 1.6G CPU and 1024 x 600 HD Capacitive display under $90. I match the price among online stores, lightake lists the lowest price at the minute.

    • Indeed. It claims to be able to play 1080p - I wonder how well it plays it over the mini hdmi port?

      • Lucky it comes with 4, 8, 16 and 32 gig cards included so you 'll have plenty of room

        • What? No it doesn't… those are just optional extras to buy. :P

        • Pre-ticked extras at that. Sneaky…

      • i have a larger 10" tablet with the same RK3066, plays 1080p fine!
the other thing that stands out is this tablet has 2 cameras, unusual for this price point…

    • Interesting point, but according to Wiki 1024x600 'could' be defined as HD

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_video

      • Yeah, you see similar things like TVs defined as HD all the time. With TVs HD and Full HD are different things.

While I'd wish they didn't play marketing games with the language like that you can hardly blame this generic brand for doing what all the big brands do.

  • Is this legit? Buggy? Seems like a crazy price

    • The goog reports the previous sale prices have been about 95$, so $88 isn't impossible…

      • Did u enter the coupon code RETAILMENOT its $88 after this…..

        • I was talking about other places and what they had the tablet listed at previously. :)

  • If this is true, I'm gonna buy one ! lol

  • Looks very good value.

Just beware the battery is 3000 mah, which is very small for a RK3066 tablet (in comparison, the ever-so-popular Ainol Flame has 5000mah). Rockchip isn't exactly a very power-efficient chipset, so don't expect long hours of gaming or web browsing.

    • How long are we looking at for 720p movie (2.7GB rips) playback?

      • +1

I don't have a similar tablet to test (I own 10.1 inch Cube U30Gt) , and even if I did have a similar 7 inch tablet, manufacturers sometimes over-state the capacity.

In other words, the claimed battery life of 5 hours could be significantly less. Wolfenator bought his crappy "ePad" tablet and he said it only lasted 2 hours out of the promised 4.

        • Cottttt damnnnn. 2 hours? Is that with video play?

        • Netbooks can last 2 or more movies if you get one with a 6 cell battery, might suite you better.

  • It's surprising that it's cheaper than its predecessor which is going for 112.99.

    Definitely buying a bunch.

  • ICOO anyone used this one before, plz share experience?

    • CPU, GPU & GPS are great features, rest is just ordinary…

I feel you should spend the same amount on this
The Quad core does tempt, but I feel the more mature Cube U30GT is a safer option to explore…

      • no gps…

actually i'm waiting for Google Nexus 10' to be announced\released in two weeks (Samsung unfortunately), then i going to decide iPad vs Surface vs Nexus vs some ChinaPad

        • EDIT: ah ok…

        • Don't compare a $100 one with several hundred one.

    • I've waited ages for my Mk808 from lightake!

"Lightake" Not recommended.. due to recent interaction for a product purchase…

    • I had to pay postage with tracking back to them $20 for DOA. It takes 24 hours to get a reply and ask useless questions. It has been very stressful to deal with them. In all there is an 3-4 months turnaround to get a replacement item.

  • Any news on the LCD quality? Understand that it's not going to be IPS but some of the Chinese lcds are terrible

  • What is the best no-name tablet to buy to just use around the house for web browsing, some apps, etc. Battery life doesn't have to be special. I just want to try out a tablet to see what the fuss is about for <$100

    • Ainol is the name you should be familliar with. The best budget one is the Ainol Aurora II ($100), followed by the Crystal ($120) and then Fire/Flame ($140-150). Ainol tablets are known for their decent build quality which is why they're recommended throughout WP and Ozbargain.

In terms of battery life the Ainols should fare better than this tablet, especially the Fire which packs a 5000mah battery.
But in terms of gaming performance, this RK3066 tablet will fare better. But Icoo isn't a very well known brand.

      • Would you know which tablet has a decent front camera with.good low light performance etc. for skyping? In my experience, even very expensive hardware sometimes come with bad cameras.

        • +2

I'm not familiar with the more expensive tablets, but if you're looking for quality cameras, chinapads aren't your answer.

        • Thanks. I'm not looking for mind-boggling quality, just decent enough to carry on a conversation without heavy graininess etc. Any experience with Ainol's camera quality? (Since I don't want to buy an expensive tablet)

        • +1

My Cube U30GT camera is half decent but I can't say much for Ainol — don't own one. You could try the Cube U30GT Mini, which is the 7 inch variant of the Cube. It sells for $125.
I would assume they might have used the same kind of camera module part in the 7" version (hopefully anyway).

        • Thanks for the info! Just checked out a video review, the Cube looks pretty good too.

I ordered a bike computer 4 weeks back and it has not arrived. I spent like $10 or something therefore I am not too concerned. But I would not spend $90.

    ** Not recommended **

  • Price breakthrough alert!

  • I bought one… its looks cheap and should do fine for a 12 year old as I promised her a Ipod if she achieved a goal she got too and I think a tablet would be more fun.

    • +1

      but it's not apple dad?

    • +1

LOL youll pay heavily for that.

'where am i suppose to find the nice cover like my mates have got on their IPODS ?'

when this tablet gets rejected by the 12yo, i'll give you $30 for it. the 4yo doesnt know the diff - i hope.

      • LOL Funny, she dont care about apple

        • +1

          smart girl that one :)

  • Anyone know how long these guys take to post out…. I know its only been 2 1/2 weeks…

  • Dont ever buy from this Company!!!

    Wasting my time.

    • LOL and I got it, China postage problem.

  • seems the specs u posted were wrong my tablet only has forward facing camera, your specs came from d70pro not d70pro II

    • Yer even tho the asses have put a d70proII sticker on the box, it isnt.
