Very tempting price. Was thinking of holding out till the Ainol quad-cores are out. Thanks for making me poorer!

    • +8

that's why we are here for :p

    • The Ainol Novo 10 Hero 1 uses GPU GC1000 Some people say that it does not stack up to Mali 400.

On the other hand, Ramos W30 will be using Samsung's Exynos Quad CPU with a quad Mali GPU. It'll be like a giant S3 (what the Note 10.1 was supposed to be…). Website says $200 but Aliexpress selling for ~$280. W30HD is the HD version. That looks hot!

Edit: Ramos only have 5400mah battery! =S

Warning I got this tablet and found out that they (Cube) replaced the IPS screen by MVA screen since last July. You can google to see how such popular company performed this stunt on its customers.

Cube U30GTs are 20% IPS screens and 80% MVA screens. When busted, they got away with excuse "as no industry standard defined until now, it is ok to say MVA is one kind of IPS".

With MVA screen, it has less colours and totally looks crap with viewing angle of ~130 degrees or more. I have Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note and Aurora 2 7" with IPS screen and def can tell the difference (it's even worse than normal LCD screen). IMO, the U30GT cube is now not even worth $100.

(In addition, Facebook and Flash have never worked properly, even with custom ROMs on Android JB. Don't buy and regret.)

      • where did you purchase your cube? there are fake cubes out there.

      • +1

I can confirm that the ones from mp4nation are the IPS models.
Cube manufactured some MVA ones but they no longer manufacture MVA ones.
Some websites try to clear out the MVA ones by reducing the price and hoping that the client doesn't complain.

I can confirm that mp4nation ones are IPS and I can confirm that MP4nation support is awesome as I have bought over than 10 items from them so far for friends and myself.

      • +1

Furthermore They never sold MVA and claimed they were IPS.
The MVA ones clearly say MVA on them.
        See screenshots:
        http://www.cube-tablet.com/news/30gt-with-ips-screen-or-mva-…

However as I said this doesn't stop sellers from saying IPS and sending out a discontinued MVA.

      • I bought this exact same tablet from mp4nation about 2 weeks ago and it is IPS screen. Couldn't be happier with it.

      • +1

The S2 and the Note both have Super AMOLED screens (the S2 has a Super AMOLED Plus), not IPS LCD.

  • Does it still have the wifi issue or have they addressed it in a revision? :-)

    • The WiFi issue has been addressed in the latest official firmware 1.07

      • Are there any other issues with this tablet? I was interested in the Ainol Fire/Flame for a while but the range of reported problems such as the touchscreen issues and cost/inability to send back tablets using Aus post for repair(due to Lithium-Ion restrictions) have put me off.

        • I played with it for around a week now. No issues so far.
Wifi is quite good and fast. No drop outs.

        • +1

The speakers is a bit tinny but it's not a big deal for me for the price

  • Got this at checkout after applying code: Grand Total $189.52

The price on the website is in US, it ends up cheaper in AUD$

    • +1

Ok, fixed it. Had to change currency to AUD at top of webpage.
      AU$182.74 poorer now

    i prefer Ainol lol :p

With the Nexus 10 rumoured to be around the corner, if you're not desperate for a tablet right now, it might be a good idea to see what kind of price point Google decide to offer it at.

    • +2

I highly Doubt the Nexus 10 would sell for less than $400.

    • +2

It will be at least $300 with that screen resolution. The barebones chinese tablets (without 3g, gps) are around the $300-$400 for a full hd/retina screen. Unless Google intends to sell it below cost price.

    • +1

If it's 450 max and has sd card slot, they'll have a customer here

      • I doubt the sd card slot, cause if they did nobody is gonna buy any other android tablet.

  • Any recommendation for a keyboard case?

      • +3

Not intending to DIY drill a hole for the rear camera myself.
Settled for this instead at AUD 13.16 after 5% discount coupon "BuySKU-5%OFF"
        http://www.buysku.com/wholesale/Durable-PU-Protective-Case-C…

        • +1

Just realised I've been charged the wrong amount. It should've been AUD 11.72 down from AUD 12.34. I've sent the website a request to refund the extra or threaten to file a payment dispute with Paypal.

        • I went for the same case (couldn't find any other options at that price). was charged US13.88 with that 5% code.

        • Look at the invoice carefully mate. The 5% discount coupon code turned out to be a 5% surcharge. This was their reply to my question regarding their pricing error.

          "
you have paid the registered fee ,so cost AUD $13.16 totally.
your package has been sent out with tracking number xxxxxxxxxxx

          Yours,
          betty
          Customer Service Team
          Buysku.com"

This is my reply to that, "Dear Betty,

I've been charged the wrong amount for the order. Your coupon code made the product cost more instead of giving the 5% discount as stated.

          Shipping subtotal: AUD 0.00
          Product subtotal: AUD 12.34
          Coupon: - AUD 0.62
          Order Total: AUD 13.16

It should be AUD 11.72 after applying the coupon code. I will be making a payment dispute with Paypal on Friday if the excess, AUD 1.44 is not refunded to me by then. I have also saved the order page as evidence for Paypal.

          Regards, "

        • +1

          In my case;

          Shipping subtotal: USD 0.00
          Product subtotal: USD 12.77
          Coupon: - USD 0.64
          Get a Tracking Number: USD1.49
          Order Total: USD 13.62

          5% of 12.77 = 0.64
not sure what 'Get a Tracking Number: USD1.49' is all about. 1.50 postage I can handle

          So looks correct(ish) to me.

        • Hmm, for some reason the $1.50 postage charge doesn't show up on my order details. That would explain the discrepancy. I think the "registered fee" mentioned by the customer service rep refers to the cost of sending a registered mail. Guess I'll clear the matter up with them. Thanks for the clarification.

Good price for this tablet given it has free fedex delivery. Paid $199 two months ago. If good value is you are after, this will satisfy your need. The battery is great (can last 10 hrs in general use) but my screen has a tiny white spot and it feels like a toy to me :P

    • White spot? As in stuck pixel?

      • Yes, that is correct. or some people might call it dead pixels. Trying dead pixel detect and fix it now. Hopefully, the problem will be goine.

        • Speaking of pixel defects, does anybody know the policies of Cube & mp4nation regarding dead/stuck pixels?

The thought of getting a tab with dodgy display & having to pay shipping to return it for replacement does not inspire confidence.

  • Hi bashar20, could you comment about the battery life of this tablet?
This is one of the lowest price I have seen on this tablet.

    • The battery life is amazing…
It can last a good 10 hours with normal use.

    • +2

Realistically I'd say 7 hours, with screen on minimum brightness and wifi on.

However the tablet charges very quick — you can top it up in around an hour.

      • Thats fast charging. Does it support 1A or 2A current charger?

        • It comes with a 2A charger.

    • Very disappointed with what I received:

      • There's a very tiny bubble on the screen (not screen protector, quite noticeable when the screen is dark.

      • The charger was defective, it was totally bend (most likely bad packaging)and can't be inserted into any powerpoint.

  • Bugger why i cant order :(:(:(
    I got this message

  • sorry my mistake
(looks like i need new glasess)
    i cant pay with CC with AUD$ :( :(

(RBS Worldpay: Visa & Mastercard - Payments in USD, GBP & EUR only!!!!!).

    • Yeah if you are paying by CC using WorldPay then you can't set the currency in the site to AUD.
But if you pay via paypal you should be fine with currency set to AUD.

  • Reason for the sale? Might be the new release of retina screen cube 9.7". Ps no hdmi

    http://www.cube-tablet.com/cube-u9gt-v-retina-screen-u9gtv-t…

    • It might be the launch of the Nexus 10

      • Or they know they will have competition with Win8 tablets officially releasing now…

        • I prefer the aspect ratio of 10.1 when compared to 9.7
Would be nice if cube release a Retina display 10.1 but doubt it will be that cheap. I recall reading somewhere that with android tabs it was cheaper to manufacture 9.7 tabs as everybody is trying to clear out 9.7 chassis or something like that.

  • +3

In case it matters to anyone, the screen ratio is 16:10 rather than 16:9.

  • Mp4nation is great to deal with I must say in terms of customer support =)

  • +3

And just in case this comes in handy, there is a step-by-step instruction for installing a rooted version of the ROM on whirlpool:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1921801&p…

Important to note that you do NOT use the supplied USB cable that comes with the tablet — it's known to cause issues when flashing the device.

    • So just using another usb cable is fine? They must be desperate if they want to save a few pennies on a measely cable…

      • Sometimes the bundled cables can be not that good. I personally had a bad TomTom cable that kept corrupting my GPS and had to send it back 3 times and TomTom kept swabbing the GPS till 1 day I tried another cable and I was able to fix it myself.
I guess its luck of the draw, but to be safe use a quality cable. I personally didn't have issues with bundled tablet cable.

  • Awesome just the deal i was looking for!

  • How much configuration do these require? Is it pretty much switch on and go like the nexus?

    • +3

Yep just switch on, set up the gmail stuff, and off you go.

I bought one of these earlier this year, am very happy with it and the support from the different communities on forums such as flashmyandroid. These tablets are very easy (and foolproof) to root and change roms, Jelly Bean arrived very soon for this tablet after it was announced. The screen resolution it great for web pages, and the battery life is excellent (I like that I can leave mine on standby for days without having to recharge). Cube are good at updating the firmware and the new roms keep popping up in the forums. I am not a great game player, but I loaded Asphalt 6 and it ran beautifully. The sound is poor, but adequate in a quiet room and that has been the only from my experience.
      I love my Cube!!

  • I'm looking to sell my Optus mytab, upgrade to a slightly better 7" android tablet with 3G - I pretty much use it only for travelling and putting in prepaid SIM cards, perfect size as a travel tablet . How does this one look - http://www.mp4nation.net/tablets-phones/islim-a10-3g-built-i…

Or can anyone else suggest a 7" tablet with 3G any cheaper?

(Already got an iPhone and ipad, not really keen on getting the ipad mini!)

    • There probably is no cheaper… $165 for a 7" 3G tablet is already quite cheap. However you get what you pay for — that tablet is only a 1ghz single core with 512mb RAM and 5 hour battery (probably less).

  • +1

Thank you very much Bashar20 for sharing this awesome deal here ! just bought this deal :)

    • +1

You are welcome. hope you enjoy the tablet. I personally think its good value for money and way better than the Aldi rubbish tablet which I need to return back to aldi tomorrow.

      • I'm Using Cube from the last 4 5 days and it's running flawlessly. At this price, you can't find a better tablet ! Thanks once again. What I'm looking for next is IPod touch, do you know any good deal ? :)

  • Optus offered Galaxy Tab 10.1 on 2G plan for $9.90 p/m when I signed up for a mobile plan. I thought that was good value. If you are getting a mobile plan then you may want to try for the Tablet too.

  • -1

Good price for 10" tablet, but I will pass this and wait for nexus 32 gigs

    • It really comes down to choosing between a 7 or 10.1 screen.
For me a 7 is too small, for some its perfect.

      • I'm considering surgery to have my hip/leg adjusted so I can kick myself in the arse for not buying a GT7.7 when I could have gotten one price matched at OW during the DSE sale for ~$250 IIRC. :'(

I had one in my hot little hands & the wife vetoed the buy. She's put quite a dampener on my spending of late by dangling the carrot of a USA/Hawaii holiday around Xmas time/NY! Now I'll have to take my trusty old SGT travelling with me… :S

  • Just wondering what you guys do with these tablets besides browsing internet and media? Are there specific apps you use or something?

  • +1

I bought one today. I will let you know how it all goes once I receive it!

  • Does it have access to the full play store?

    • +1

      it does, comes preinstalled.

  • +1

I ordered two! Such a great price and seems like a good device. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Thanks OP. I too now have a tablet coming that I don't really need… :)

  • Thx op. just bought one. How do you update it to jelly bean 4.1?

  • +1

Thanks for being so helpful OP, :D

  • can anybody who has previously purchased comment on shipping times with this website? thanks

    • It arrives in Sydney in 2Days. Sometimes it takes a few more days for them to deliver it from Sydney to my address in Sydney lol.

  • Purchased the unit but forgot the discount code, have sent them an email to ask to refund the difference, hopefully they will pick up on this.

  • wish they had a 3g/4g version

  • Awesome. Was after a good, large screen wifi android tablet at a good price.
    This wins so ordered.
Good specs, but what is a 'G-sensor'? Is that for robot sex?

  • I am looking for a 7 inch 3G + Call Android device with decent battery and speed. Can anybody point me to a device?

  • +1

    Love this tablet!!!!!

in stock form its flawless; i've bought 4 of the 'latest batch'.

Its also the easiest to open. I added some felt tape to make everything more 'solid' and a small copper block over the thermal tape to keep it cooler.

It didnt need it, I just do things like that.

    BUYBUYBUY!

    • I thought you were meant to say BYE BYE BYE!

  • Does anyone know if this would be able to handle letting me watch online flash videos on the TV via HDMI without lagging?

  • I do not recommend these units, both my mate and I purchased devices.
whilst the unit is ok, the batteries are useless, and have failed (6 weeks old)
When the charger is plugged in they work ok. pull the charger and the battery dies instantly.
Multiple emails to the vendor has them offering to sell a replacement battery, so much for a warranty.

    • Where did you buy it from?

  • We both bought them from SPEMall, each purchase was weeks apart, so doubt it was a batch issue.
    http://www.spemall.com/
the company appears to be called China Electronics wholesale.

Caveat emptor gents (let the buyer beware).

The units are good, fast the only issue is the crap dead batteries, and that's a pretty major issue.
Also don't bother buying the case with a keyboard built in, you have to use converters and it would be easy to damage the connections.

    • This deal is from mp4nation and not SPEMAIL. I don't think that your bad experience warrants giving this deal a negative.

      • +2

If it's a fault with the product then it's a fair enough neg. Personally I've seen a lot of people who are happy with them, so I'm not put off, but I certainly think his neg is valid.

  • Bashar20 fair enough

I guess the fact that they all come out of the same factory is irrelevant.

Batteries from the same supplier is irrelevant.

Again for the record i state "Caveat Emptor" (buyer beware)

If people can give examples of mp4nation's customer service, and warranty replacement examples then great.

  • +1

I have just been advised by V.J. from MP4Nation that the sale on this item will end today! Get in quick!!
