Sendle Delivery Experience

Ok, so I was waiting for a package to be delivered, and received a notification that there was a failed delivery- as a matter of fact, no one rang the doorbell and there is a safe spot to drop off. (Item is low value). Interestingly since I was waiting for the package, we were all at home.

Australia Post also sometimes behaves the same- they never ring the bell, but just drop a card (has stopped now)- Amazon deliveries are the best, most of the time they ring the bell- and if they are delivering to others in the building too, they drop in a safe place and share the photograph, and Alexa let's us know immediately that a package was delivered.

Is it because ringing the bell and waiting 30 sec to deliver is too slow for the Sendle delivery person?
Having to deliver it again surely costs them more time?

Or they just said failed delivery as there are running out of time, and will come again later? The failed delivery email was quite late on Friday. (After 6 PM).

Amazon deliveries are the best, most of the time they ring the bell

I find Amazon drivers typically don't ring the bell, just dump the parcel, take the photo and run - stops them needing to wait for people so they can get through their 5 hours of deliveries in their 4 hour allocated block.

I find that Amzon are the worst as they do not understand signs and do not read the delivery instructions given. I have had them drop parcels off at the wrong street and the wrong address. The instructions say to drop it off at unit xx that has a security screen door and the POD shows a plain wood door go figure.

    • I have had nothing but good experience with Amazon.

    Sendle.super for me.
    For receiving : no problem
For sending: amazing with pick up option

    • Thank you SeƱor Sendle.

    • Thanks.
Pick up option is probably what I will go with in the future.

  • Sendle, sigh.

Had a small parcel coming from the southside of Brisbane to the northside. After 2 weeks I opened a case, took them another week to declare it lost.

Sendle are a middleman service, so the customer experience will vary depending on which courier they use. When they use Toll, I usually have a perfectly fine experience on par with Aus Post. When they use Aramex, I have to pray and make sacrifices to the courier gods…

    • Yes, and they decide who to use, not the sender, and of course it's always the cheapest. And dealing with Sendle when it goes south is like dealing with a brick wall.

    Sendle is hit and miss.

I purchased something from Melb to Syd and the company only uses sendle, took 3 weeks to deliver and the company sent it off the next day with a tracking number. I had to buy another item from the same company, messaged them in advance NOT to use sendle, they declined….. since I can only get it from that company, purchased it assuming 3+ week wait… I got the same item within the week…. WTF..

I avoid businesses that use sendle and sendle has the audacity to introduce express post now.

  • Looks like it all depends on your local contractor. My local Amazon Flex deliverer is great — deliver on weekends, always ring the bell, and leave the parcel in secure spot if no one is at home. Sendle uses CouriersPlease for my area and their service on the other hand…

  • Ive used sendle for ~170 parcels. 3 have been picked up the day after they were scheduled, and 1 was picked up 2 days after scheduled.

Cheaper than auspost to metro areas (except WA) i use them a lot.

  • One thing I'll say in Sendle's favour is that they're responsive and you actually can get a hold of a person in Australia to go over your problem.

I had a package marked as delivered, but nothing was there. Got a hold of Sendle, "driver marked it as delivered, GPS coords on driver's photos match your house, here are the photos". Photos aren't my doorstep, took pictures, inc GPS coords, and coords are close - but not quite. Driver misread the address and was a few doors down - mistaking a 1 for a 7. So, they (driver) made a mistake, but the mistake was quickly rectified as a result of being able to get hold of actual people with some agency - not just call centre ppl with scripts.

    • That is a good outcome/ resolution.
For me, the place that was delivering was like 15 min away by car- but free delivery is free delivery.

  • Sendle is great for my area when picking up from residentials.

Currently dealing with an issue for dropped off parcels at a hubbed location. Not sure if Hubbed/Sendle aren't educating the businesses or drivers properly or what.
Some hubbed location won't even accept your packages, claiming they only do return shipping when they are clearly listed as full service locations. Or couriersplease/toll/aramex drivers don't know they are responsible for picking up Sendle parcels too.
