Is the new NAB debit card ( not same as existing classic NAB account ) any good. Want to use it for Netflix and youtube subs.

In their defence, international balance enquiry fee is free lol. Otherwise you get chsrged.

It's essentially the same product as the citibank. Didnt have any issues when i was using it.

        • Great. Thanks for the feedback.
Looks like, I dont need a new fee free international debit or credit card and can use NAB card for now for international shopping or in atms when travelling.

          • @EnALup: No you shouldnt.

I had a macquarie as back up. And they both performed similarly.

Both had payid, osko (citibank didnt), and easy to use bank apps (citibank is…clunky).

Great rates, very close to official forex.

And unlike wise, you can take as much money out of your account, instead of a maximum 300(?)

  • The problem with that is NAB's debit card design is aesthetically uglier than Citi's debit card design. And I don't know of any card by NAB that can compete with the design of Citi Prestige and Citi Rewards.

    • I really wish these card issuers would move on from the old embossed card number design, it just takes up more room in a wallet and the highlighting eventually wears off anyway. My NAB one has already worn off after just a few months.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark…

    • The Citibank Plus card was a good looking card. None of the big four has anything interesting.

Also, "The NAB Plus" card looks just like my other NAB debit cards.

There's already a thread for this

  • I am not seeing any new NAB debit card under my NAB account at all
    Did you get yours automtically??

    • Yes

      • I got nothing. You didn't apply for a NAB debit card right?

        • No. My Citibank account was transferred to a NAB account and my NAB Visa Debit card was mailed to me early December. You should have gotten a text about it.

@kerfuffle: I have never been sent such a message/mail about a new debid card.
Plus, my money is still in my Citi account, not transferred at all

    • I was sent a new NAB card. Call NAB support and ask.

I always thought I needed to request a NAB debit card and I didn't bother doing so hehe

  • Has anyone used nab card? Does the transaction line only show converted AUD amount does it show the foreign currency withdrawed amount?

    • Havent done it yet as netflix payments were failing. Will try again.

    • It only shows the converted AUD amount and not the original currency amount charged. The Up Bank app shows this and partly why I prefer Up for international transactions.

      • how about currency exchange rates NAB/*Citi vs Up Bank?
I used my new NAB to pay in NZ and it was the same as google NZD/AUD rates

I did a test by topping up my Wise account by 5 GBP

          Up
          Charged: $9.70
          In-app rate: 1 AUD = 0.5155 GBP

          Revolut
          Charged: $9.70
          In-app rate: 1 AUD = 0.5158 GBP

          NAB
          Charged: $9.70
          Rate: ???

Basically the same. But might differ more with what day/time

So transferring between the Citi Plus account and a Citi credit card used to be instant..

Can we still do that with Citi Plus going to NAB?

How would you process it. Bpay looks like the only way? Therefore, the instant transfer option is gone :(

    • Yea, wont be instant anymore which is a shame.

    • Called NAB about this early this morning and they didn't even have this in their FAQs lol… Absolute amateur hour. I see they have sent a bulk email out this arvo to summarise options. TLDR: no way to pay your balance in real time.
