[SUBS] Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) Streaming from 15 March 2024 @ Disney+

2250

Hi OzBargain family,

This is a heads up for those considering paying to watch the movie, particularly given the recent hype around the concerts in Melbourne and Sydney, that the movie will be available to stream on Disney+ on March 15.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the concert in Melbourne and I thought it was phenomenal. Wanting to re-live the experience, I wanted to see if I could rent/buy the movie for a bargain price, to no avail, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s coming to streaming soon, so will probably just wait until then.

The version coming to streaming is different from the theatrical release as it will have five more songs.

People on TikTok always live stream her shows too if you want to catch her in Australia. Obviously not in the kind of fidelity you'll see on Disney+ tho…

    • This is the way.

    • +31

Are you saying people pay for tickets to sit\stand at the concert focused on holding their mobile phone still enough to stream it for others?

      • +23

Are you really surprised? People literally spend hours a day on brain dead apps like that.

        • +8

          Don't make this awkward bro

        • +5

It's 3am and my wife is on it right now!

      • +1

Yes, it's a job. They're getting paid to attend the concert and film.

e.g. Tess one of the most popular accounts has like 3-4 different feeds attending the concert that she'll then rebroadcast.

        • +1

          Don't they get DMCA'd ?

          • +1

@ThePasserby: Depends on the event. I've seen a few UFC PPV ones and they shut those down pretty quick.

TikTok don't care too much, generates views and gets people on the app. They also take a cut from any of the tips that people give.

      • +3

Yes unfortunately it's a lot of concerts these days. I went to an Aurora concert once and maybe saw a total of 4 phones out the whole night. Would have been more but I kind of wish they banned pulling phones out during shows, makes the experience that much better.

        • +6

Must be hard to enforce the ban when you have 96,000 people there.

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: Yeah realistically it shouldn't have to be enforced and luckily I don't tend to see artists where the majority of the venue has their phones out the entire show, basically just record your favourite show and enjoy the rest not the entire thing. I'll retract my statement that it should be banned because it shouldn't have to go that far but it's just really annoying paying for a ticket to watch an artist and your view is filled with 100s of phones in the air the entire time.

            • @lookingforadeal7: The illegal streams and videos don't seem to be hurting Taylor's bottom line in any case. If that stadium were twice as big I reckon twice as many people would have gone.

              • @AustriaBargain: The stadium could have probably been 3x as big and have had 3x as many shows and they would've sold out for sure, amount of people who didn't get tickets is definitely more than those who did. It's moreso just a personal pet peeve of shows and I'm young, not a boomer take it would just be nice to enjoy a show and experience the moment for what it is. But I guess that just means big shows aren't really for me, I keep up to date with the genres I like and I've been lucky to see some big acts in small 80-100 people venues before it got to that stage. Just a much more intimate experience.

Are you saying people pay for tickets to sit\stand at the concert focused on holding their mobile phone still enough to stream it for others?

I’d expect no less from Swifties.

      • +10
        • -2

          how much were tickets?

          3hrs long

        • +6

Phones on phones on phones, you can see the phones more than you can see the stage looks like a horrible experience imo

          • +1

@lookingforadeal7: Looks like everyone is having a good time tbh.

          • +9

@lookingforadeal7: People so obsessed filming it on their phones for free internet points rather than living in the moment and enjoying the experience

            • @gentlekoala5906: Yep just happens with bigger shows I guess, smaller shows will always be better usually you're close enough to the artist to actually see them and they'll put on a better performance and not lip sync the entire performance as they're still growing and gaining fans.

            • +1

              @gentlekoala5906: This.

We need to just live here and now and enjoy the show, keep it in your memories. By standing there with your phone, you just focus on that rather than being part of the experience.

        • +2

That's some arm endurance there holding your phone for over 3hours long

      • and do they get monetized for streaming this?

        • I don't see how they don't have a copyright takedown.

I get a copyright ping on Youtube if you can hear a radio playing in a passing car.

          • @killergreely: They are getting takedowns. I watched a few high quality videos on youtube from the MCG show and they're gone:

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Universal Music Group"

Whoever filmed it I'm guessing had an external mic attached to their phone. The picture was standard phone quality, but the sound was remarkably high quality and they were seated near the stage.

      • Yes. You could basically watch coachella through someone's phone.

People are spending $$$$ to just stand there and hold their phone, while artists are performing. :S

      • +1

People will do anything for likes and views. Didn’t you know that?

    • +1

      TayTay is on TikTok?

      say it isn't so!

    • +1

Never seen a tiktok link on here before

      • +2

Well we must all be 30+ years old, and generally not hip or with it.

        • I used to be with 'it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it' anymore and what's 'it' seems weird and scary

    • +1

I caught one of those streams, and all I could hear was the god awful singing of all the Swifties around the camera.

  • +6

We went Melbourne last night. Spewing the night before got Red and Getaway Car.

Definitely gonna get a fair few replays in our house, can finally take the USB with the downloaded copy out of the TV.

    • We went on Saturday night and had Getaway Car. What did you get last night?

      • Come Back mashed with Daylight, and Teardrops from memory.

    • Haha, didn't think people still played movies off a usb stick.

      • Not quite boomer energy .. gen x-ergy?

      • We don't often pirate movies (local cinema is cheap enough and everything lands on a streamer eventually) but there is the odd thing. Taylor in particular made sense, daughter loves her, missus looooves her, and the only option was to pay 20 something to digitally rent it every time you want it on. Not gonna happen.

    • You got Daylight in a mashup!!

      • +1

Exactly! So you understand why I was gutted to not get Red and Getaway.

    • +7

      there weren't

    • +5

It wasn’t yet full earlier in the evening, particularly before Taylor came out, but by the time the show really got going, it was fully packed. I know friends who rocked up just on time for Taylor as they waited in line for the merchandise and missed Sabrina Carpenter. Also Daily Mail exaggerates too much…

    • +10

What a stupid idiotic clickbait link! Clearly it fooled you.

Pretty obvious those photos are taken in the 3 hours before she's even come on stage when people are still coming in.

      • There's a photo in the article of her on stage with a whole bunch of empty seats behind her. However I agree that the rest of the photos look like they were taken before it started.

        • +2

Oh - those are the spew seats.

Some chick projectile vomited over like 3 rows so they cleared them all out and upgraded them to floor seats.

      • +1

I dont know dude one of the photos clearly shows her on stage performing with empty seat.

I went saturday and there was a section fully empty just in front of one of the VIP areas, I reckon probably due to fire safety / occupancy concerns. Could have easily packed another 2000 or so people on the floor if they wanted.

        • +4

I reckon probably due to fire safety / occupancy concerns

This is absolutely the reason the floor did not have more people. Lots of space, but if there needed to be a mass exit, it has to be possible.

I dont know dude one of the photos clearly shows her on stage performing with empty seat.

One of the photos (captioned former triple m…) definitely is an awkward angle where the empty seats were likely in a no view area. The stage itself was actually quite high and between that and the speakers, these seats would have been crap viewing and sound given everything was facing the other way. The other image, I’m not sure what happened.

          • @jjjaar: 96000 people is what they can legally have in that configuration

        • -1

Yeah, they definitely could have had more people in the seats. Even behind the stage with a big screen, lots of people would have been happy to pay for that.

          • -1

@Powershopz: Nope. Those seats behind the screen would mean you never see the performance, and the speakers are facing the wrong way.

There is nothing to be happy about if you can't see Swift, or any of the stage show, and the sound is all muddy because you're behind the speakers.

            • -1

@cerealJay: Considering how many people were outside going crazy just to be near the event, I guarantee people would have still bought rear / no view tickets and been super happy to be inside the stadium.

              • -1

@Powershopz: Taylor-gating is free. Nobody pays anything to hang around outside the stadium.

super happy to be inside the stadium

If they have to pay to have a fully obstructed view, I guarantee you "super happy" is taken down a notch to disappointed. People love filming the event on their phones. What can you film from behind a big screen? Nothing… maybe the backstage crew who wouldn't want you filming their operations.

The point is, your idea to fill the no-view seats is a bad one.

    • +1

Why are you reading the Courier Mail? That's cringe AF

      • It's the Daily Mail. UK publication.

        • Why do I have too many Chromosomes

    • Why are you spreading lies?

  • +3

How is this a bargin? (Even if you did like her)

    • +4

It's a normal thing to be posted on OzB, I guess it makes people aware in case they were to buy physical copies somewhere a week before it hits streaming services without knowing. It's pretty handy.

    • +1

      You new here?

    • +3

I like her. I went. I’ll watch this for sure.

But yeah, it’s absolutely a PSA, not a bargain. I’ve said we need a PSA category before but few people agree.

      • +1

You can just hide stream addition posts if you don't want to see them. It gives you instructions in the post.

        • Exactly, so if you don't want to see these posts you should only ever have to see one of them once…

        • Does not work if you’re subscribed to any of the other tags / stores in the post. You still get notifications.

How do I know? I’ve had stream addition posts hidden for ages, but I’m subscribed to Disney+ as I want to know when there are bargains to actually get Disney+.

Now, sure, a PSA category may have the same issue (I think I first thought of it before the subs tag came online), so ideally there’d be a way to subscribe to a store and not get the SUBS/PSA posts in your notifications.

Waiting for right wing people and people with tin foil hat to go mad with their outrage…

    • +2

Huh? Because it’s Taylor Swift or because it’s a streaming service added content post?

      • -5

Taylor cause some grown men can't stand her success and woke influence..
Some even thinks she's part of the CIA..

They're the ones that neg my comment

        • +1

can't stand her success and woke influence..

          Her “woke influence”? lol.

Just so I’ve got it right, people that don’t like Taylor Swift or her music are “right wing people and people with tin foil hat to go mad with their outrage” because “grown men can't stand her success and woke influence.”? Yeah?

          • -2

@aja12: Just like if you don’t post anything about BLM on social media you are a racist.

          • @aja12: Hey, I didn't categorise ALL people that don't like her music as RWNJ. Music is subjective and I can understand why people like death metal even though that's not my cup of tea.
The outrage mob is a subset of people that don't like her music. They're the ones that troll her for supporting democrats and say she's a CIA agent. They're the haters and haters gonna hate hate hate hate…

            • +6

@cmyk: How about those who called her emission queen?

        • Define 'woke' without looking it up.

        • -2

Yep, you were completely correct lol. All the angry CIA psyops delusional people negging you already. One even crying about BLM stuck in 2013 in a fking Taylor Swift concert post 😂😂

        • +2

"I voted for Biden because Taylor Swift told me to!"

I mean is this a serious thing people in America do? If she said it for Trump too, it would be just as stupid. I doubt right wingers actually believe she has any influence at all in the election. Most of her fans are too young to vote anyways. If you vote for someone because someone else told you to, you're a fool whether that be left wing or right wing or anything in between. Make up your own mind about anything political because it's YOUR vote, not theirs.

          • @KARMAAA:

I mean is this a serious thing people in America do?

Sort of, yes. I follow a bunch of American celebrities (singers, actors, comedians, sports people) across various social media platforms and they’re all extremely vocal in the lead up to elections. Many of them think it’s up to them to use their platform to remind people to register to vote and actually go out and vote.

Whether or not they have much impact on who people vote for is a different thing, but I do think it gets more people voting in general.

Ugh I’ve just realised they have an election this year. I can’t do this again, time to start unfollowing.

          • -1

@KARMAAA: Her endorsing Biden will be outweighed by Kid Rock endorsing Trump so it's all good.

      • +2

        https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-11/taylor-swift-the-anti…

Basically, the usual cookers think Taylor Swift was part of a ‘psy op’ from the Pentagon and NATO to influence more young people to vote for the Democrats. They’ve somehow decided that her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was also ‘recruited’ in this operation and that the Super Bowl was rigged in his team’s favour so that they can gather more potential votes.

    • +1

The irony about tin foil hat 😂

  • +17

Not sure why she is popular honestly.. her fame is something I never understood. Vocally she isn't anywhere as talented as Mariah or Whitney.

      • Lol, I'm not sure whether sarcastic or real response.
Regardless. I don't think she's a really nice human being. It really pissed me off how she snubbed Celine when she was awarded best artist or whatever

    • -5

Because president Trump made her popular and rich

    • +6

perhaps because her songs are good and she writes them

      • +3

Maybe, but do you think she sings them well?
I don't know I just feel she is a little overrated.. that her success does not correlate with her quality as a singer. Kudos to her and her success. I just feel that we have had seriously great singers who didn't have this massive cult that Taylor has. And I'm just really not sure how this happened.

        • +7

so there's more talented singers out there with less success compared to someone who isn't as naturally vocally gifted but writes and performs their own music? you might be answering your own question here
