[SUBS] Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) Streaming from 15 March 2024 @ Disney+

2250

Hi OzBargain family,

This is a heads up for those considering paying to watch the movie, particularly given the recent hype around the concerts in Melbourne and Sydney, that the movie will be available to stream on Disney+ on March 15.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the concert in Melbourne and I thought it was phenomenal. Wanting to re-live the experience, I wanted to see if I could rent/buy the movie for a bargain price, to no avail, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s coming to streaming soon, so will probably just wait until then.

The version coming to streaming is different from the theatrical release as it will have five more songs.

@hyperfuzz: Fair point. I really just didn't understand. Hence why I was actually curious. But if your response is the feeling everyone is sharing, then I can appreciate it.

            • +1

@maverickjohn: that's fair. it actually took me until seeing this film in the cinema to really get it!

            • +4

@maverickjohn: Im just a casual enjoyer but it was a unreal concert.

Her singing, dancing, crowd engagement, piano + guitar was peak performance. I would happily pay big $$ to see her again next week

        • +2

Do you think Bob Dylan sings well?

          • @shbshb: Lol I feel like I might be the minority here… I'll say this as carefully as I can without trying to sound insulting as that's not my intent…
I'm a super big Whitney fan.. I acknowledge her lack of talent in writing her music. But when it comes to listening to her voice it still sends chills down my spine.
When I listen to an artist I listen to an expert in their field.. and maybe I'm making this harder for myself by setting the bar as high as I did for Whitney.. but she is the gold standard of what I look for in an artist.
Celine and Mariah are also really good powerhouses. Just not as big of a fanas Whitney.

            • +1

@maverickjohn: Cmon, Whitney is a real singer with a wide vocal range. You cannot be seriously compare Whitney to Taytay? Just like I cannot compare Taytay with Adele.

              • @Montyjpm: That's my point lol. Whitney is a legend. Buy Taylor is far popular. I just didn't understand why. She's not the same calibre yet more popular.

              • @Montyjpm: I’d pick Adele over TayTay any day. Adele, equally talented in the song writing aspect also writes her own music however is not as popular as Taylor probably because Adele’s songs are more ballads oriented and melancholic whereas Taylor’s songs are catchy (country) pop. Taylor’s lyrics are more resonate with tweens and teenagers about coming of age, sweethearts break-ups etc. Also Taylor’s appearance (tall and slim Barbie’s figure) is more appealing to younger fans giving out a young (not sure why because she is already 34 years old, probably because she’s been famous since 17) feminist, positive energy vibe.

Adele is just different style and she is perceived as more mature and isn’t cut out as an idol type but in fact, she is only 1 and a half year older than Taylor.

To me, Adele’s husky voice is better than Taylor’s high-pitched voice.

          • @shbshb: Yeah, for people who can't sing.

You might have enjoyed the Swiftposium which was a…

hybrid academic conference for scholars to engage in critical dialogue about Swift’s popularity and its profound implications for a range of issues including gender, fandom, popular culture, literature, the economy, the music industry, and more

There’s a bit from the conference that is / will be available online.

        • A little?

Most of her fans are nuts…

It feels like it's a sudden obsession, like I don't hate her or think she's inherently bad but there are so many other artists that reach out to me as being more generally liked but somehow everyone has gone crazy over her.

      • With a big team of songwriters.

        • -2

plenty of vids out there showing her songwriting / collaborative process, suggest flicking through a few if you're curious about how writing music works ;)

    • +1

Because girls think they can relate to her when she sings songs trashing her exes lol

    • -3

      Because Kanye

    • +2

Because a lot of teenage girls can relate to her lyrics (broken heart, betrayal, etc).

I don't know honestly - I don't get the obsession people have with her. I think in the last few years Dua Lipa has had more big hits than Taylor. I only really liked "Shake It Off", but it was (and still is) overplayed. The rest of her songs are very meh.

    • -5

      Okay grandpa

    • +1

Taylor writes all her own songs, she has that going for her. I believe Carey wrote a lot of her stuff but Whitney barely wrote anything and I don't think she wrote any of her hits.

      • She didn't I acknowledged that above..
But I do appreciate that Taylor had the songwriting component

        • Lol, I'm not gonna read all that, I just want to shout into the void 🤣

Just watch free live on tv or YouTube, why are people paying unless it's a concert

  • +1

    Yeah “paying”

Curious which country Disney will show…hope is Melbourne one. Really loved the way she reacted when she knows about 96k audiences at the stadium. That almost tear-ed me up, even though was just watching it on social media and not at stadium.

    • +4

it's specifically cut from three shows at SoFi Stadium in August 2023. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Swift:_The_Eras_Tour

    • +1

I'm pretty sure in the Eras movie, she uses a similar line except for Melbourne, she's subbed in the 96k figure.

I don't mind TS using a similar line for each venue, but then changing it for the location itself. She's got a legion of fans who show up and that must be absolutely jawdropping on each occasion.

  • i thought the cinema release of the eras tour was literally taylors version

  • If Kelce isn't making an appearance I'm not interested.

    • +3

      Who is she?

      • -3

I heard she has a tight end.

Look forward to seeing some photos.

      • Taylor's boyfriend and NFL player that just won the Superbowl, Travis Kelce.

        • She must be good at eating to win the Super Bowl

  • I’ll probably be watching the season finale of Masters of the Air on the 15th March…😅

      Episode 5 was amazing.

Aussies: omg cost of living crisis i cant afford food

also aussies: haha must get this $100 ticket and $200 merch

    • +4

Almost like some people are poor and some people are not poor. Crazy huh?

      • -1

yeah right lol tons of people who are complaining about how hard they have it usually also spending a lot on luxury they think they deserve

        • Chill out dude, you can complain about life and still enjoy things in life.

    • 100 bucks? My mate paid 900 to sit on the floor seats by the stage

      • You mates with 14 year old girls ?

    • +1

Interestingly the cost of living thing hits differently for different people. Even the poorest countries have some very rich people.

Also, this is a once in a lifetime thing for many, why shouldn't they experience it? This stuff is what you remember when older.

  • -1

    Yeah, nah.

    • +2

I loved that bit in the Melbourne concert!

    • You do you but it's a yeah from me!

  • -4

    Taylor fans are mainly women…

    • +4

And the problem with that is?

    • +2

I don't get why you felt the need to add this comment.

    • if you are not women that is even better more reason to go to her concerts!

  • I prefer earlier Taylor compared to the pop phenom version (started falling off the bandwagon from 1989). That said I'd still be interested in checking the ERAs concert out.

I'd prefer a physical release over streaming but oh well.

  • +6

The atmosphere at her shows looks incredible. My wife and daughter are going in Sydney this week and I'm almost jealous.

In terms of the devotion of her fans, thousands outside the stadium singing along etc I've never seen anything quite like it. She brings a lot of joy to people that's for sure.

Taylor Swift is like COVID shit just won't go away

  • Love you TayTay

The version coming to streaming is different from the theatrical release as it will have five more songs.
the theatrical is the one at Sofi Stadium LA, back in 2023, right?

  • 15th of March ? That doesn't give Disney a lot of time to recast someone for the role.
