[NSW] SodaStream Gas Canister 60L $19 @ Woolworths Neutral Bay

30

Going to assume this is an error, was at neutral bay, saw the deal in the picture, at checkout it was full price, but they honoured the ticket price as it wasn't clear enough saying that price was only for exchange. The ticket says "New or Exchange"

  • I'm in Neutral Bay tomorrow will give it a crack.

    • if they dont possibly take down the ticket, but ye, they were pretty quick in honouring it showing them it says "New or Exchange", also it's the one on rangers road, not the grosvenor street one.

Grab a connector hose and a 2.6kg CO2 cylinder, you come out in front as soon as you refill the CO2 cylinder for the first time (6.5 times the volume for pretty much the same price as a 400g Sodastream cylinder)

    • Where would you buy that and how would it connect to the bottle?

This is what I've done. I grabbed a second hand 6kg co2 cylinder off of facebook marketplace for $50 and a hose from kegland which was about $50-60, cost me $50 to get the tank filled from a home brew store. All up $150 for a 6kg fill, then $50 a fill going forward. Equivelet cost if paying $19 for a 400 gram refil would be $285 for 6kg.

    • …and where do you sit that? I barely have enough bench space in the apartment for the Sodastream itself lol

      • Drilled a hole in the countertop and sat it in the cupboard below

          Wild.

          • @lasterato: It's awesome - I bought an Aarke because it looks great (grabbed it on special, because they're stupidly priced) so it just sits there looking great with nothing else visible.

    • I got a $19 connector and 6kg CO2 bottle from my local homebrew shop. A little fiddly, but most bottles refill easily.

This was the brand. It goes through release valve O rings so source some spares from hardware/plumbing store.

It's dependent on whether you can get the sodastream canister (i.e. the empty one) cold enough so that it can take the full transfer from the donor tank without "warming up" and the gas doesn't transfer. I found this out the hard way a few years ago when my freezer wouldn't freeze the empty canister low enough and only allowed for about 140g of CO2 to move over. If you can freez empty canister down to below -20C transfer should go through well.

Not exchange for $19 is cheap.

    • In that case $19 is exchange price, so it is normal.

  • It’s the exchange price, if you go scan it at the till it will come up with about $42. I had the same thing happen to me about two weeks ago in a Brisbane Woolworths. When I asked the guy he condescendingly said “you have to bring a container in, to get that price”
