Ainol Android tablets - which one?

Hi everybody,

I am looking this tablet but not sure which one suitable for my usage ie fire, crystal, aurora…etc.

Most of my time, I usually read news, forum , fbook, skype, viber…I saw this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82546 but honestly do not know which one is strong and stable specially when you are browsing.

Anyone help me out of this please, much appreciated.

  • what features do you need?

i need bluetooth and possibly gps

so basically the only ones useful to me is Fire/Fire 2 or the new Venus

    its all feature driven

they can all do skype, forum, etc.

it just comes down to what features you need

if you need 3g, well forget ainol

    • I watch movie and search multiple websites at once.I got bad experience with Samsung,so for me need stable and fast.Thats simple.
Thank so much for yr suggestion.Could you please tell me whats the difference bet. Dual core and …A9???on ainol.Which one is better?

Rk3066 which is one of dual-core CPU is based on Cortex A9.Ainol tablet is very cheap and is a not bad choice.

  • Don't waste your time with Ainol tablets. The quality is poor and you will be disappointed. Get a Nexus 7 instead and you will be well pleased.

      Don't talk crap.

Novo 7 Fire is an excellent tablet for the price, as is the Novo 7 Crystal.

I doubt you've ever even used one.

I've sold dozens of them and have never had one returned to me.

      • Hey Mr. AndroidStuff,

When are you expecting the Venus?

  • i currently have two ainol aurora ii, Certainly wouldn't say they where crap far from it both cost me approx $100aud each, and I'm very happy with them. They do require a few tweaks to get them running better. I currently run the Pat Moss rom. Interested to see what other Rom's current Ainol owners prefer.

  • Mr AndroidStuff, the whirlpool forums have a ton of posts from Ainol tablet owners telling about the problems with those tablets. What is most disturbing however, is that there are many reports coming from Hong Kong and Chinese online retailers telling about the quality control problems at the Ainol factory. I am talking about batches of tablets being shipped to retailers where they havent been assembled properly, ie bulging back plates! Not kidding. Now go and ckeck out those reports and i will wait for your apology.

Why don't you save us the time and put the link of those reports yourself?

  • +1

Bratam, you go ahead and believe your 3rd hand reports from 2nd rate sellers looking for excuses for why they have not shipped stock, I'll stick to my first-hand, hands-on experience of having both worked with and sold 5 different models of Ainol tablet with a 0% return rate. I'll keep selling Ainol and other chinese brands to my better informed and very happy customers.

Don't hold your breath on an apology, you've never even handled an Ainol tablet, far less evaluated numerous models for performance and build or carried out detailed comparisons with competitors like Onda, Cube and Sanei/Ampe, if your only experience is complaints on Whirlpool.net.au (Where geeks go to rage) then you're really not in a position to speak authoritatively on the quality of those products.

There 'have' been production issues with the first batch of Ainol Fire, specifically with an incorrectly rated component which caused touch screens to fail on a percentage of them, this has subsequently been fixed. Other supposed issues have been rumours or possibly excuses (Dealing with Chinese vendors on a regular basis, some of them bullshit like crazy when things go wrong)

Sure, they're not as well put together or as dependable as Samsung/ASUS/Acer and the other 1st tier vendors, but that's why they're far, far cheaper. I own a Nexus 7 and an Acer A500 and a 1St get Galaxy Tab 10.1, so I'm pretty well placed to comment on the differences. Ainol make easily the best Chinese tablets, if you put an Asus logo on a Fire tablet, nobody would question it.

In fact the only downside is putting up with the sniggering from friends when they ask which tablet to buy and I tell them to get a 10" Ainol Hero.

    • plus for the last line

      • i'd buy one just so i can tell people i have a "10 inch Ainol Hero"

        • would make great presents too that you can give them 'ainol fire'

    • Do you know where do they sell affordable price for Hero?

  • Overseas shops are selling for around $200-$220

I sell them them for $260 including courier delivery shipped from Sydney, I only have 2 left, but am getting more on Mon/Tue.

  • I have purchased an Ainol Novo 7 and was frankly disappointed. Sure, the price was attractive, but there were two dead pixels out of the box and there was a gap between the bezel and the backplate.

Also, the tablet ran a little hot at the back. Have since sold it.

If you budget absolutely tops out at $150 or so, sure, go for the Ainol. Otherwise, go for the Nexus 7 really. The quad core processor and decent graphics chip makes everything (including gaming) go smoothly. I do wish it were slimmer and had a narrower bezel to active screen area ratio though!

  • Shawn, which model Novo 7 did you buy?, there are 7 of them.

    • The one with the IPS screen. Aurora I think.

PS: I purchased it whilst on holiday in China. Think it's about 20-25% less than the prices sold by e-retailers. Something to think about if you're going on a trip there.

  • Can't seem to find the Ainol Fire anywhere that has it in stock.

  • The Ainol Fire is the Chinese version & some early ones were reported to have problems when users tried to upgrade their OS.
The later English version is the Ainol Flame.
I purchased my Flame from Dinodirect for $160AUD delivered 2 months back & am very happy with it. Also a case/rear stand $6 delivered.
Front & rear cameras plus bluetooth I've equipped it with a 32GB SD card & 64GB Kogan USB stick.
They are presently sold out but the full specs are still on their site:

  • Hi all,

beginner question. When on holidays, I want to back up pictures from my camera's SD card, ideally to a portable hard disk.

From what I can see, it looks like tablets, Ainol or other Android based ones, feature a micro SD card reader and a USB socket.

So, does this mean in addition to a tablet, I'd need to bring:
    - SD card reader
    - USB Hub with power adaptor and plug for country

then set up the copy in the hotel room, to write across to a portable hard drive (using the powered up hub)?

Also, does anyone successfully backup SD cards to external portable drives while out and about?

    • Easiest way to back up would be to use a micro SD card In your camera (inserted in a SD card adapter).
Then you can simply slip the micro card into your Ainol tablet to back up there and/or transfer directly to a USB stick without having to carry those extras.
(I use both a 32GB micro card & a 64gb USB stick with my Ainol Flame).

      • Thanks Grump3 :)

That sounds like it would work nicely.

Last time I went away for a month I think I had 200 + GB to back up … possibly

I guess USB sticks can be larger these days and carrying a few is pretty light weight :)

Something for me to ponder :)

Something to watch out for is faked capacity memory cards & sticks, particularly if considering purchasing from Asian sources on Ebay.
This widespread scam consists of special software installed on cheap low capacity units (usually 2GB) that displays the much larger advertised capacity (mostly 32-64GB nowadays)when connected to your PC.
These fakes will even pretend to accept & display all the files you upload to them but only actually return a few GB of data before failing.
All purchased flash memory should immediately be tested for true capacity using the free H2testw utility (Google for it & also the sosfakeflash site) before trusting it with your data & in time to get a Paypal refund if dudded.

BTW I purchased my genuine 64GB ones from Kogan after getting a fake 64GB OnQue stick (true capacity 1GB) via a Cudo group deal.
