  • Apparently the Ainol 7 Fire II will be released shortly to fix the problems some people have experienced with the original Fire. I would hold out til then, if considering the Fire.

    • From the latest discussion in slatedroid, the Fire II will be specced with a really bad GPU. The current batch of Fire with TM screens pretty much fixed the dead touchscreen bugs. I'm quite happy with mine.

That's the main risks of being an early adopter of china-tabs — you get the untested batches which eventually have issues.

    Falcon punch.

  • Any suggestions for a cheap tablet with internal 3G?

I suppose you will know when you try ainol for the first time whether you will enjoy it or not…

In all seriousness though I bought this and apart from the mic volume being low and poor quality I haven't had any other problems touches wood.

Over all I am fairly impressed with it, It is not the best looking tab but it performs well.

I have had my Fire for over a month now. No issues.

    Quite pleased.

Glad to hear you're pleased with your ainol.

Sorry, still ah, cracks me up.

I would recommend buying a Chinese tab if you are a techno person and not afraid of playing with these devices. I bought an Ainol Aurora II very cheaply and has rooted it since and installed the Feiyu custom ROM. I couldn't be happier. The tablet is snappy and responsive - no lag, touch response is excellent. Aside from having no 3G or GPS, I am very happy with the build quality. The other downside - if you can live with it, is the relatively short battery life. It would only last some 3 hrs if you're on it constant (as opposed to the big namebrand 7" tablets). But for a third of the price, it works for me, and I can install all sorts of ROM to suit myself.

Was going to throw in an ainol fire joke, but was too scared of scrimshaw's virtual slap….

    • how come the battery life is so short? i got elf 2 and it last 5-7 hours of online gaming

      • +2

one shortcoming of ainol is they dont have gps

if you like to indulge in ainol in your car the various gps apps wont work

      • Perhaps the ROM was maxxing out the CPU frequency at 1.5GHz as well as WiFi being on all and the screen at medium brightness. The battery in those just don't last. Maybe I've got a dud one.

you rooted an Ainol and couldn't be happier lol :p

        Afterwhich I saw the Aurora…

  • Guessing the fire is the one to go with in terms of specs for $$$?

It seems I'm getting a new ainol offer at least once a week nowadays. Wasn't that long ago when I had to go to Asia to get some ainol action.

Ainol used to be illegal but now its accepted - except perhaps in Tasmania….

  • I saw a post the other day about pre-orders for a quad core, 10" tablet with 1920x1080 res - which one was that again?

Hey this is a dumb noob question, but is there an Android shop similar to the Apple shop online?

Does it remember all the apps you own etc?

I don't own a smart mobile and I have only an IPAD. I am assuming Android works similarly to Apple but don't know.

Also I've tried to tell hubby that if we are going Ainol that 7" is enough but he insists on giving me the full 10"…

Yeah, the main Android app store is Google Play Store (books, movies, music too) and there are other app stores as well.

I've never had any problem finding the apps I want and many of them are free (but often ad supported) too.

The Google store remembers all your apps against your Google account and if you swap to a different phone/tablet or buy an extra one they are all available to all devices, you can choose which ones to install on each device.

    • Yeah the Google Play Store is like itunes,
The nice thing is when you grab an app you can choose to send it to one or all your devices from the website. You can also have multiple accounts per device, so you can have a work & personal accounts.

  • When I go and look at Ainol Fire It does not have buy option like the crystal , gives error host undeliverable.
    http://www2.buyincoins.com/new_en/details/7-ainol-novo-7-fir…
anyone else get same error? I using HP Touchpad , but Ainol crystal page loads OK.

also is there a website that compares all ainol models?

    • Website now working, can add to cart, :-)

  • Sorry for the basic question but which is best & why :- Aurora 2 or Fire?

    • +1

Fire is better, only because it has a marginally higher resolution screen (1280x800) vs Aurora's (1024x600), it also has a higher battery capacity of 5000mAh vs Aurora's 3700mAh, plus it has a back facing camera of 5MP. If these aren't critical to you, Aurora II is much cheaper.

  • do these sell anywhere rebranded (yeah with no stupid Ainol name!) but 100% compatible with the roms for the originals ? cant figure out if the makers are oblivious or if they know the inevitable jokes means everyone has heard of them/remembers them ?

  • how do you buy Ainol Fire Accessories, every other HK website forces you to undelete 100 of options, but buy coins has none, I would at least want option to select case, HDMI Lead, screen protector.

  • I just received my Ainol Fire from a special a few weeks ago and I am having a few issues ( no surprise to some ).. The wifi finds networks and connects ok but loading pages is hit and miss , it makes a strange noise when you press the back button ( like little cogs are moving inside )… Is it strange that the unit came packaged super well but the box itself wasnt sealed and the usb adapter came outside the box loose in the packaging. Maybe they were updating firmware before sending and maybe I bought someone elses problem… What do you think?
