This is not GaN is it?

    • +2

      doesn’t look like

      • +5

And yet they have the balls to charge $64.95 RRP for a 45w charger…

    • +2

      What is GaN?

      • -4

        idk

      • +13

Put simply, GaN (Gallium Nitride) is newer technology of chargers that are more efficient, smaller, faster and produce less heat (safer).

        • -3

          safer

          any sources for this claim

i doubt a HEYMIX GaN charger is safer….

          • +5

@Gdsamp: If it's from a like for like brand quality GaN is much more efficient technology.

          • +3

@Gdsamp: I am not one of the GaN inventors. If you want sources for the safer claim then maybe go search some published papers or literature on it.

Heymix may have cut corners with their chargers but it has nothing to do with the technology. If you were talking about Anker or Belkin’s GaN chargers having safety problems then we can start to be concerned.

          • +1

@Gdsamp: I've been using my Heymix GaN for 3 years with no issues, but this one lasted about 4 months when it started to burn, smoke and die lol

But they don't mention the max power if multiple ports are being used like an A+C.

      • +1

I think the max is 45W shared.

Do the latest Samsung, Pixel charge higher than 45w?

    • +2

S24 Ultra fast charges at 45W so that's the max for this phone.

Pixel 8 Pro fast charges at 30W.

Cheers, although $31 at BigW doesn't deserve a neg

    • Thanks, I was halfway through checkout on BigW site when I saw your comment so I switched to GG Commercial and saved a few extra bucks. Cheers!

      • +2

Careful with this though.. as posted in the TGGC thread by @MeesusEff

Be careful with this one, I was charging (trying to anyway) my phone with it and noticed a burning smell. Touched it and it was burning hot and slight smoke (phone plugged in but wasn't charging), lucky I was sitting right next to it as I'm pretty sure it was close to catching fire. Looked up some reviews who mentioned similar. If you're going to use it, make sure you don't leave the switch on if you're not nearby.

  • Thanks for tidying up the post dear editors.

  • I had one last week from "thegoodguyscommercial" for $28 , still the same price right now

  • Showing as $44 for me

    • Still $31 when I check now, though availability is dropping rather quickly..

  • +1

Price now $26 online only - showing as in stock in various Brisbane stores

  • +1

I purchased this in store at BigW. Had to get a staff member to get it off the stand as it had a security tag. Just opened it now and it's an empty box, WTF….

    • +1

How did you not notice how light it was?

  • I bought other items and paid in tech area. I didn’t physically hold it as it went straight into a bag with said items. Wasn't until later that night when I grabbed it out of the bag that I noticed how light it felt.
