DESCRIPTION
You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town’s most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

Now with Multiplayer!
Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and build relationships with townspeople or each other. As more hands are better than one, players have the option to scale profit margin on produce sold for a more challenging experience.

New Single Player Content!
Including the new Winter Market Festival, more collectibles, added character cut-scenes and even hats for your horse! Plus more to be discovered…

  • Anyone with this and Animal Crossing, which do you prefer?

    • +1

At $8.49, 1/8 of the price of AC and only a few hours to go, I’d say buy now and think later ;)

    • +7

I prefer this. Animal crossing was fun, but I like the day/night cycles aren't tied to your irl time, and there was a combat element/more to explore.

If you are looking for an awesome game similar to AC but with more to it, Palia is a great game AND it is free to play. I'm taking a break from that atm, but it's fantastic.

      Depends on your preference.

I personally prefer SDV more because there's more to do - plot, combat via the caves and dungeon. Each playthrough is different as well because you can pick different farm layouts.

Animal Crossing is good, but I found it quite limiting because its tied to IRL day and night cycles. Hard to get to stuff when you're working 9-5. And you're just building and decorating your island and house.

Prefer stardew valley. The characters are really fun and don't fall into the one of 8 personality types.

The world felt more alive and I prefer the gameplay loop in this game than AC

      I prefer this

If it's your first Animal Crossing, then Animal Crossing. But I think Animal Crossing peaked with Wild World. Harvest Moon is in NSO so you might enjoy that more than Stardew Valley too.

Lost a lot of evenings to this game.
Comfy one just to chill in bed with, and even better 2 player.
    Great price!

  • +1

once you understand the mechanics to the game it will suck you in its very additive I play this all the time on the Tesla since its a built in game.

    • +10

Might buy a Tesla, just for this game

    • While on auto pilot?

  • +2

Thanks op. Couldn't resist. I suppose I'll add this to my pile of shame I haven't played haha.

  • Is it best on switch or PS5 / XSX?

    • Switch if you like to play on-the-go

      • +1

        No other differences

        • +2

According to this it looks like PC is the preference due to being able to mod but most others prefer switch when it comes to console. Doesn’t look like any other differences.

        • Can edit saved files on PC.

    • It's free with gamepass!

    • I've been playing on Android, you can get mods though not all are compatible. The apps make a huge QoL difference.

  • +2

Best value in gaming hands down

My 9yo is currently addicted to this game. Then he saw some YouTube vids and learned about mods, so I had to build up a little rig for this: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3753 And convert him over to a PC. At least it free'd up the Switch for other family members.

    Great game …. apparently.

    • I'm contemplating getting it for my son too, so it's better on the PC than Switch?

      • @ps3udo bit late, just noticed this comment.

It's better on PC in as much as you can modify it, which requires quite a bit of faffing around. But the mod I linked is a fan made expansion. It's massive and very well done. My kids use an 8bitdo Ultimate, so control is the same. Depending on the age of your kid (mine are 10 & 12), there's still a tonne of playability in the original Switch game.

We own the Switch version which they played a lot before discovering mods. The PC version was included with Xbox Game Pass for PC. I got some deal on here to pay for 3yrs of Game Pass for bugger all. For whatever I paid it's extremely good value.

    Cheers op just grabbed it

Phenomenal game! To be honest even at full price it is cheap, let alone this bargain..

  • Just bought it yesterday for $16.99, come on…
And Nintendo does not provide refunds, unlike Steam.

  • +1

New update coming out across systems, could be in the next couple of weeks according to ConcernedApe's Twitter. Great time to start a new farm.

  • so sad, i missed this deal

  • +1

Just went on sale for same price on Steam/PC for anyone that missed out on this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833323

  • +1

Played this a while back with my partner on switch, got to a part where there is constant massive lag - made it impossible to progress in cave. When I looked it up it is only during multiplayer for some reason. Just something to keep note of.

  • +1

Despite already having this on multiple systems, still grabbed this on switch (and had the alert set for ages).

Love this game. But wow only a half day sale.

  • If anyone is interested, there's a free game similar to this called Pixels and it's web based so no device required

  • +1

New update 1.6 coming to PC really soon, Switch update coming later.

Just in case anyone out there doesn't know this trick already, you can register an Argentina account and load the gold coins of your newly purchased physical card (released within one year I think) into this Argentina account. Then you can use these gold coins to purchase games from the Argentina server. The thing is, some famous tiles such as Sardew Valley, Hades, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, and Celeste are unbelievably cheap to buy using gold coins. One physical copy will give you enough coins to buy 2 or 3 games when they are on sale.
