      • Not very batman of you

        • I’m just bored and want to test the malware stuff people are talking about

    • what's the warning? to do it or not to do it? hahaha

Should be wiping. Anectodally a sister company ACEMagic, was subject to an issue where a 3rd patyu company imaging their pc was loading a malware infested version of Chrome. This has now been resolved (supposedly) but the story will now forever serve as a cautionary tale for Windows preloaded machines from lesser known vendors.

i reinstalled windows on my HP and Lenovo laptops after i bought them, that is just good housekeeping as they also load some of their own utilities and i’d rather just load the ones i think i need. Chrome and plugins were a problem at work for us and we’d love to go edge only but push back from users. People need to remember that google makes chrome to track and push adds, and is very open to plugins and doesn’t check their behaviour.

          • @garage sale: People also need to realise Edge is just Chrome with a paint job.

Firefox is the only reasonably unmolested non-linux browser and it gets debatable the more plugins you install.

The number of people I hear at work yelling about hearing Edge when it's the same skeleton is bizarre.

        • Can the reinstalled windows still be activated?

          • +2

@aec: Yup, activation is embedded in bios like most modern computers.

            • @abs898: I’ve seen a few posts that when people try to reinstall it doesn’t work. I wonder if it’s because they don’t activate it before wiping

I can personally confirm my Kamrura N95 chrome came infected, this was late 2023. So 100% reimage the drive. Some also recommended to make sure partitions are redone

That won't protect you from UEFI viruses.

By the way there is a code for 5% off 2 systems. It didnt show on the app for me but did in the browser for some strange reason. DBJHRU79

  • If only this was SLIGHHHTTTLY bigger and had a gpu

  • OOFt come on give me one with the 780 GPU in it. OR an ARC Intel GPU

  • What GPU does this thing have that claims to play games? can it play GTA 5?

  • Showing as $649.99 for me.

Seems pretty cheap for the specs listed, what's the catch?

    • Malware
