Thanks, OP. Hopefully, I can jag some flights. Does anyone have any suggestions for one and a half weeks in the area for a family of four?

  Airlie Beach is nice, but not enough to do for a week and a half. Rent a car for a few days and go to waterfalls and swimming holes nearby. Dont bother with Hamilton island.

Second the above…some 'Ozbargain' accomodation …not sure that goes with "whitsunday"?

  See my comment above, I stayed somewhere quite pricey in Airlie Beach but there would be cheap accommodation too as it's popular with backpackers.
