[NSW] BEJUBLAD Induction Hob $520 @ IKEA, Tempe

80

Went to IKEA Tempe today and saw that the BEJUBLAD Induction hob, IKEA 500 black, 58 cm was on sale for $520. I think there were around 40 left in stock after I bought mine.

This model seems to get cheaper and cheaper. I bought mine in the last sale and combined it with an additional 10% off promo for members. For the price, it's exceptional and well worth it if you either wanted a cheap(but not nasty) way to switch over to induction. Just be weary of the wiring requirements and benchtop cutouts required if you are looking to retrofit in an existing gas hob as costs for install can mount up to as much if not more than the unit itself if you add in all the extras to get it in.

  • Does this require a new electrical circuit or would an existing 20A circuit be ok?

I got mine installed recently. I was switching from gas to electricity. It requires at 35A circuit.

Mine was $600 cash to install. More than the unit itself, but I had to jump off the deep end at some stage.

I'm quite happy with it. It provides all the benefits of gas with none of the downsides.

      • Hey LongJohn92

I'm Interested in replacing my gas stove-top as well. I had a question about the tradies you needed for the install. Did you need both a plumber and electrician or was their someone who could do it all for you in one go?

        • I would imagine you would need a gas tech to ensure that your unused gas line was closed off properly with out any chance of leakage.

        • The electrician did the whole job. I made sure to mention that it was a gas to electric conversion to the electrician on the phone before he came out and he said he would check it on the day to see if he could do it.

The gas point had a simple valve there to turn it off at the source. That's all the plumber would come in and do. I put a cap on the end of the cut line. We still have gas hot water, so we haven't removed gas completely from our house. If it was our last gas appliance, I would have gotten a plumber around to completely remove it.

          • @LongJohn92: Hi LongJohn92, I'm also planning to replace gas stove with IKEA induction and also thought I needed two trades. Are you in Sydney? If so, do you mind PM me the electrician details?

          • @LongJohn92: Thanks for the details!

    • It should be Ok. I didn’t change mine.
