    I activated one purchased last year and still received 60GB recently.

    Some sellers on eBay list it for $8- ea.

  • Activation is first recharge… I think, strange terminology.

    • Yes, it is common in Telco area. Vodafone defines it in the same way as most if not all Prepaid SIMs can be activated with no recharge, at least in the very beginning.

  • 5GB extra if you turn on Auto Recharge

    • Okay, it comes with the possibility of being charged by $35. True OZBers never do a 2nd recharge.

    Available at Coles also.

    Does this let you get the Optus Sport channel? I'd like to watch EPL but not at $25 a month for just one thing (not interested in other channels in package).

  • so we need to buy the sim for $12 plus the first recharge for another $12?

    • +1

      No, $12 includes $2 base cost blank SIM and the first $35 recharge credits.

      • +1

        thank you, just insert the sim into the phone, activate and viola, we got 60 GB within 28 days?

        • +1

          Activate by 12/3/24.

          If you already have one at hand or get it from Coles today as someone mentioned above, you'll get 60GB upon activation. AFAIK, it may be the 1st time ever offering 60GB on this SP (previously $30 SP) for a limited time. The "triple data offer" may be extended, though. Standard bonus is 20 + 20GB.

          • @Neoika: thank you!

          • @Neoika: So if you order this delivered, you don't get 60gb on activation?

            • @carrawa: It is only about when you activate it rather than when and where you buy it.

              In other words, if in the future, Optus offers 80GB upon activation on this SP, you will get it on the SP purchased from this deal.

  • Lebara has 100Gb (50+50-bonus) 30d plans for $12 via periodic-sales @ Coles IN-store. But 50Gb-bonus will end 26-Mar-24-> https://www.lebara.com.au/prepaid-plans/30-day/

    If enough buyers don't-buy Lebara's 50Gb plans, they're likely to increase bonus-data?

    PRO
    * LIGHT-users can access HOME-internet via mobile-data & avoid NBN. Hotspot phone to PC for convenience?

    CONS
    * 100Gb may be just-enough for LIGHT-users with streaming &/or downloads: need adjust-behavior to reduce data-usage?
    * Monthly activation of a NEW-plan is troublesome: monitoring & scheduling needed.
    * Buy EXTRA-plans in-advance, say 3 & wait for Coles IN-store periodic $12 sales.
    * Need access to an EXISTING mobile # for long-term use, say PAYG-plan.
    * Hotspot speed drop dramatically with concurrent-users: 2 max?
    * UN-tick 'auto-recharge' to avoid $40 normal-price, auto-charge IS-defaulted.

    • Lebara SIMs purchased in-store have been reported unactivated/unidentified by some. For frequent SIM switch, it is much better to deal with a Telco with physical stores.

      Maybe you haven'tn't realized that all Vodafone Prepaid 28 day plans includes unlimited data at shaped speed after data inclusion, which gives peace of mind of staying connected.

      • Last 2 years experience: 2 instances-> 'unactivated/unidentified'. Problem fix via 'sim-swap' with a $2 sim-card: & RE-useable. I have incorporate this check in my monthly activation.

        Regarding your comments '…deal with a Telco with physical stores'. Are there any mobile-provider that charges $24 (2 x $12: 50Gb plan) for 100Gb data, AND being able to access-services on a consistent-basis? With Lebara not offering 50Gb bonus-data in the SHORT-term, other Telco's sales are attractive & worth a try, eg Telsim $15 for 70Gb-> https://www.telsim.com.au/sim-cards/

        Data limit is the limit, & hence NO reduce-speed-> 'shaped speed after data inclusion'. Never had any slow 4G network issues as yet. During OFF-peak & torrents-allow, qBittorrent noted 2.5 to 4MBps download-speed…but normally 1MBps.
