eBay Will No Longer Be Available on Swap Celebration Gift Card Effective 31/03/2024

This is just a heads up for anyone that are still holding onto any Swap Celebration gift cards and are yet to swap them for a retailer. From a recent email from ShopBack, eBay will no longer be an available retailer to swap the cards with from 31/03/2024. If you swap to eBay before that date the eBay gift card will still be valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Full email from ShopBack below.

Hi there

We're reaching out to you because you have previously purchased a Celebration Swap Gift Card through ShopBack, and we have an important update to share with you.

Effective Sunday, March 31st, 2024, eBay will no longer be available as a brand for redemption with your Celebration Swap Gift Card.

If you have any unclaimed Celebration Swap Gift Cards and intend to redeem them for an eBay Gift Card, we kindly ask that you complete this redemption by Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 11:59 PM AEDT. Once redeemed, your new eBay Gift Card will be valid for three years from the date of issuance.

However, if eBay was not your intended choice, rest assured that you can still redeem your Celebration Swap Gift Card for a wide range of other brands even after March 31st, 2024. Our selection includes popular brands like THE ICONIC, Foot Locker, Sephora, and many more (subject to change without notice). This flexibility extends until the expiry date of your Celebration Swap Gift Card.

We understand that this change may impact your plans, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this update, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated customer support team.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We value your loyalty and look forward to serving you in the future.

Cheers

Team ShopBack

How refreshing to see advanced notice of a retailer being removed from a gift card scheme.

That did not happen when eBay left the TCN gift card scheme a few weeks ago.

this is much better than TCN removed ebay without any notice

Tips: take a note of the ebay gift card number (i.e. the pin), just to prevent the pdf is not accessible on Blackhawk server for any random reason one day.

I have stored in a separate place.

And Google wallet stores the card number and pin (three dots).

  • Do ebay gift cards have expiry dates?

    • As per OP’s description:

Once redeemed, your new eBay Gift Card will be valid for three years from the date of issuance.

  • Assuming that Super Swap is still okay…?

  • Glad they let us know. I had a lot still unused and all the other brands on swapyourgiftcard.com.au are crap. All swapped now.

  • Is there anywhere to get discounted ebay vouchers now or is ebay dropping out of this kind of thing?

    • If you have a Westpac or St George card, shopback have exclusive deals for those card holders from time to time on their gift card library that includes ebay cards.

      • So they only offer ebay cards to St George and Westpac card holders? These exclusive deals suck.

    • There are still a few gift card portals selling eBay gift cards at a discount, but it is definitely harder nowadays.

eBay is still on Prezzee, so the next time Prezzee does a deal on a multi-retailer gift card, have a look to see whether eBay is included on that multi-retailer gift card.

  • I purchased through some other promotion and Blackhawk did not contact me directly about this. I still have the original receipt showing ebay was a valid card. The remaining ones are not brands I would normally use. This is not nice. I have contacted giftz with my order number and will see what they say.

    • Let us know how you go - I forgot about a few cards I still had and missed the cut-off date too.

Interestingly they are still being advertised for sale from paypal as including ebay. Was thinking about buying a $5 one to see what you get - but no point throwing more money away I guess.

    • I have thousands worth that I bought via giftz.com.au and got no notification, only found this now as I tried to redeem

I've reached out to them too, let me know how you go
