$0 Fee Cards and App Like Spriggy

I was looking at getting a simple debit card for my 10 year old, but didn't want to pay the $5 month for Spriggy.

I did see the 'Kit' from CBA last year, and the app looked great. It was free last year when I looked, but now it also has a monthly fee.

Any ideas for an account, and a good app with parent controls and spending limits like these, but fee free?

If you only need 1 account, the Standard/free tier of Revolut allows 1 Revolut <18 (formerly Revolut Jr) card.

Open another transaction account in your own name in your everyday bank. I have that for my kids. Just use a marker to write their name on the debit card. If you want another bank, try something like Macquarie. Simples.

Services like Spriggy or Kit cost money to run and maintain. Kit might be free for a year with Commbank Yello, try that out.

Can't always expect a commercial enterprise to provide a free service. They are not charities.

    • I always cry myself to sleep thinking about the poor Macquarie executives.
