  • If this was 4G id buy it instantly

    • I'm not sure of your use case but this camera AND 4G sounds potentially expensive.

      • Have some land but no utilities, ive bought a few reolink and they work fantasticly, especially with free online backup for 1 camera

    • I set up some remote property cameras & used wifi cams along with a single 4g router & wifi repeaters with directional antennas. Only have to pay for a single 4g uplink that way.

Everything is 12v so a simple 12v solar+ battery rig feeds it all fine.

      • interesting idea, cheers

    • can the 4g fallback to wifi incase of signal failure and vice versa?

Any discount on other products? Missed yesterday's ebay 22% coupon now it is only 17%.

I’ve heard Reolink cameras just a feature packed product for the consumer who wants a great security camera but they often fall short compared to competitors.

I mean one camera might be fine but any more and you might as well make your own infrastructure to support a system designed for surveillance.

I really want a system but in for a penny, in for a pound. Think I’ll just get a HIKVISION, cheap 5G modem and router

Please correct me if I’m delusional

    *edit
The fake reviews on forums and media were the most alarming for me

Could you elaborate on what you mean? What is missing from reolink products that it would be easier to "build your own infrastructure"?

They're POE powered so can run from any POE router and are ONVIF compliant.

      • Network, power and lighting. I understand that they are troublesome with floodlight and nighttime capture
        Infrastructure like
POE vs 12v regulated from battery solar & IR Floods rather than LED. Network fallbacks.

Reports of frames being dropped, poor optics resulting wasted captures and live viewing capability.

ONVIF is not a feature im concerned about

        • Night time capture isnt great on any budget camera, their CX410 camera seems decent if you have a bit of ambient light you're working with.
Personally I would prefer a dumb motion sensor light near/behind the camera to cover any larger spaces than relying on a camera to do the heavy lighting with that stuff.

Pretty sure the cameras come with a DC jack if thats your thing, why running 12v to every camera makes more sense than a UPS style setup where you only need to supply power to your POE router I wouldnt understand.

Most of their cameras come with IR lights, again could always rig up a dumb motion sensor kit that blasts IR rather than visible light.

Network fallback? Seems more like a network infrastructure deal than a negative with the cameras themselves.

Never played with it but I assume a more feature rich software package like Blue Iris could probably handle the dropped frame requirements, poor optics I cannot comment on, I'm more satisifed with my Reolink cameras than the commerical grade ones I use for work if that helps.
Live viewing is pretty seemless, I have their 36channel NVR for the extra HDD bays at ~56tb which lasts about 3-4 months on 24/7 recording with relatively high settings. All of which can be accessed remotely from my phone at any time.

    • In terms of bang for buck reolink is hard to beat. Biggest downside is their night vision is mediocre. If you want the whole NVR setup it's less competitive but for standalone cams I haven't found better. I DIY my network recorder or use an internal SD card plus emailed clips for alterts so never bought one of their NVRs.

      • Biggest downside is their night vision is mediocre.

        💯💯💯

Due to their poor night vision performance, the AI functions are also very limited at night.
The only workaround is to have floodlights illuminate the area, which might not work for everyone.

        • +1

This really strongly depends on the size of the area you're trying to monitor.

I find the IR illumination works great for AI alerts at night, out to about 15-20m. That's more than enough for the average suburban home. But don't expect miracles.

          • @klaw81: For my cams I find the IR illumination allows AI detection out to 15m but you cant ID a face or read number plates beyond 5m. The real issue is blur on moving objects. The night vision turns any moving object into a vague blob at almost any distance.

I've been using Reolink for around 5+ years now, and find it's great bang for buck. Especially because you can start with a single camera and build up from there, rather than having to drop hundreds on a multi-camera starter pack.

I've found the battery based cameras with the PIR sometimes miss the start of catching something, but the non battery units are excellent. All cameras have great video, the app on IOS and Mac is great, and they are very easy to setup.

I've also had 1 of my 10 cameras (over time) fail, and had a great experience with the return/replacement.

      • Good feedback.
I think this product doesn't meet my requirements. Thanks for commenting

@flyingnoddy did your camera failed during the warranty period or outside the warranty period ?

I agree, Reolink is an excellent camera

        • Within 'extended' warranty, when I registered the devices through the app (and I think it was an extra 12 months free warranty).

All went smoothy, no fuss with the Reolink team in Sydney.

If anyone asks me what to get, Reolink is best bang for buck - and the customer service is top notch.
I've got a NVR setup which I wired all myself with 6 cameras, and a few individual ones running off Solar panels and wifi - they havn't skipped a beat!

lol, the poor souls buying Swann cameras at Bunnings

      • That seems the general consensus here. Bang for buck.
Im not up to date with the current DIY systems but I was hoping the market had moved up with the camera technology and that doesn't seem to be the case. However these reolink offerings are miles ahead of anything you'd find in Bunnings.

Dahua or HIKVISION on a budget for low grade commercial seems to be my only options

        • Reolink have recently released 4k cameras with wifi 6 and usb c charging solar panels fyi

        • I have installed some HIKVISION cameras back in the day, and they have very high quality builds, I didn't find their apps to be very good though especially through cloud access. Might be because I was a amateur at setting them up haha

I now run reolink, I would say its a much easier at setup.

    • Have 48 Reolink cameras covering 5 warehouses. No issues in 3 years. Good flood lighting is better than any night time cameras.

@dealbest I've been hanging out for a good discount on the Duo 2 Floodlight model for ages. Got a code for that one?

    • Me too wanting to buy the wifi floodlight model.

    • +1

The Duo 2 floodlight doesn't currently have enough stock to be posted as a deal, but we have included it in our agenda:)

  • Seems to be some other Reolink deals on Amazon as well: https://www.amazon.com.au/stores/REOLINK/page/BCE71493-60CF-…

    • +3

I don't think any of those are actually good deals. They're jacked up prices, with coupons to bring them back down to normal prices.

  • got this unit - its pretty good for what it is

    • same, I quite like its tracking and zoom camera

  • Does this device support patrol function yet?

    • The patrol function is currently applicable to the RLC-523WA, RLC-823A, and RLC-823A 16X cameras:)

  • When PTZ will have "True Color Night Vision"?

    • +1

Yes, it is included in our R&D program:)

  • I would get this if I had a use case for it!

  • @dealbest deal says it expires today but the coupon code is not working, can you please check :) ?
