Cashback isn't good enough… Has to be profit back.

    • +7

Yes, and it's not about the greed, it is just that we are at risk of cashback not beeing tracked on some individual occasions and then there will be a loss. If it was just free without any cashback but no payment either like Kogan previously - would have been fine.

      • +3

        Yep it's the risk premium…

      • what do u mean not being tracket and losss? sorry new to this

        • Well with a cashback you still pay out of pocket first, and then you hope for the best and wait. It is hard to track the cashback and you are never guaranteed to have it.

          • @Musiclover: So far i had only once or twice that experience with cashrewards and the ir support manually added it for me

            • @Royale with cheese: It is a good thing that you are able to regularly conduct audits of your cashback, not all people do it and sometimes it is hard when transacton dissappears from the list, is not tracked initially, or there may even be a customer error (forgot to activate in time).

              • @Musiclover: All my transactions are listed on the account so it is easy to see if a "declined" pops up but yes people have to keep an eye on it. This was my experience with Cashrewards but waiting for new cashbacks from shopback so they may have a different approach

            • +1

@Royale with cheese: Mmmmyeah, but how much of your time did it take 'chasing' the cashback, and how much cash back are we talking here? If it took you, say, 30 minutes to chase down $10 cashback, I would call that a loss; because the minimum wage here in Australia is about $25 per hour.

              • @GnarlyKnuckles: Its built in claim to press a button to challenge it so essentially less time than browsing here daily 😁

                • @Royale with cheese: If I were paid minimum wage to browse OzBargain I could afford all the things I want to buy on OzBargain

          • @Musiclover: Wow i didnt know it was guaranteed so how do ik if i buy something from these cashback apps ill get it. I bought a nord vpn subscription for over 100 aud for cashrewards cashback how and by when should i start getting worried if it doesnt show up on the website??

Shopback refused to honor my last cashback and just keep sending me generic responses I had to charge back.

      • copy pasted

You've clicked on another browser extension after clicking from ShopBack
Other web pages or browsers (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional or discount sites) were opened after clicking from ShopBack
Clicking through to another page from a banner, pop-up or advertisement from the store's page.
Using Antivirus, Cleanup or Adblocker applications may also disrupt Cashback tracking as tracking cookies are required to accurately track your transactions.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: FYI Boost does not provide tax invoice, only order summary

    • -1

You must have either activated it too late or maybe did not individually tracked individual transactions.

    • +1

@arknski That's disappointing. May I ask if you got the refund from the charge back yet?

      • +1

Yeah I got it with Nab

        • +1

          That's great

    • How do you charge back when you bought it from boost and boost delivered the sim card?

      • +3

I explained the situation to NAB and they honoured it.

        • +1

@arknski Good to know you can do a chargeback on a cashback

      • Probably not worth their time to open a case for $12

        • +4

But from boost perspective, a customer bought a sim card for $17 and boost delivered it to the customer.

Then suddenly the customer filed a chargeback despite having done everything on their end as requested by customer.

          • +2

@CodeXD: Yeah I also fail to understand the logic. Like what do you do with the sim card that has been delivered.

Not saying this person is lying but it just doesn't sound right. Maybe just luck where the case officer was nice and couldn't be bothered?

            • @foxes28: Yea it makes no sense because the chargeback doesn't really affect Boost.

… Actually on second thoughts, maybe it does, indirectly. Because who pays the cashback? Yes it's shopback but who funds shopback for these? Boost.

So even though in terms of the actual transaction it doesn't seem to make sense, holistically I can see how it might still end up being this way

  • +4

    HODL

  • If I want this as esim, I need to buy the physical sim first and transfer it to esim?

    • Since esim doesnt pay cashback, I suppose thats one way.

      • is that true eSim don't have cashback? Where did you read this from? It should be written in the T&Cs if true because when buying there was an eSim option.

      • Wasn’t the no cashback on esim a Cashrewards rule. I don’t see that on Shopback

Edit: you don’t actually seem to be able to buy an esim online, I.e. you have to do it via the app and that means no cash back.

        • ok got it!. The option is there on their website but it takes you to a page to download their app. So no CB there.

One does not simply order a Boost mobile without making profit.

  • ref " Cashback is applicable only to New Boost customers." does this mean you cant have any existing numbers with boost or just need to activate sim pack with a new number ?

will porting in a number from outside boost be ok?

    • In the past this just meant new order. Porting number in or activating new number was OK. Not able to use as a recharge.

If nothing has changed porting should be OK

  • something went wrong!

    • same, still getting this error.

EDIT: changed name, DOB, email address. seem to have worked.Waiting for tracking now…
EDIT 2: Support Agent checked my Telstra/Boost account and noticed the email was not verified and ask me to go to security review on the app and complete the verification to see if that will fix it.

      • @sintro Is this the first time you changed? It didn't work last time I changed the details and also used different cards and different devices with mobile data

        • First time I changed to random DOB, other valid email address. Used the same credit card I've always used.

I've tried changing CC, Name, address only no difference, same error.

          • @sintro: Thanks. Will try next time when there is a profit

            • @trixieb: It's probably not even that… maybe IP related or the site is just flaky at times.

  • what if you manage to talk them into activating the sim pack with a new number and then assigning your existing boost number (ie lost sim or damaged etc) onto it will this still qualify for the cash back?

    • Yeah but good luck, I'd give that a 0% probability

    • -1

Does this still work? I was doing this a few months ago but suddenly they were instructed not to offer this anymore.

      • You recharged your existing service with an new inactivated boost starter kit?

Or you activated a new sim kit and got a new service/phone number, then ported your phone number over to it? This is what barseeker is asking about.

        • -1

I’m pretty sure it will qualify for cash back. It’s just they don’t seem to do this anymore. Activate new number then switch number through

          • @RHSteven: Wow okay, I've never been able to or heard of anyone who could activate a sim then port a number over to an already active service.

I've recharged my service using a non activated sim starter kit many times.

  • boost cb is getting rarer these days. Just get it while you can especially if you're using dual sim and using this as a datasim.

    • agreed….when supply becomes limited, just have to make do with whatever we can get.

Still waiting for overdue cashback from December. Reported 2 days ago, still no action from Shoback

    • +3

Same here. Same thing happening with dominos cashback too aswell as boost on SB

    • +1

They took almost a month to respond to me only to tell me they wouldn't honor my cashback, I will NEVER use them again.

  • +3

    No profit? How outrageous!

    • +2

      Cost of living!

  • Is activation required to get CB? Some have reported there is no need to.

    • It used to not be needed but that is supposed to change. there was a long pause on the boost cashbacks recently & I wouldn't be surprised if it was to add better activation tracking.

Why risk it I'd just activate within the 30.

  • Would not take the risk with $0 profit.

    • How about $17 loss if ShopBack does not pay cashback?

      • Tracking fine with desktop browser

        • Tracking fine, cashback payment is a pain.
SB wants me to email them order confirmation and proof of transaction. WTF?

          • @Sidor: that's normal it's just the confirmation email, save it as an image or pdf and attach it.

  • Is this deal only for one month or do subsequent months get charged at $34?

    • +2

Not even a month, 28 days lol

  • +1

    Ordered one 05/03/2024 13:18:25…
    Waiting to be tracked.

    Tracked 15:05

    • Ordered 00:10 6/3…

      Now - 7:00 6/4 —- still not tracked

      Used the ShopBack app

      • If not tracked after 2 days - does anyone know whether it is possible to cancel/refund the order with Boost?

I’ve found tracking via the app to be very bad recently

        • All good. Looks like mine has tracked now :)

  • Error message:

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

    (All good now)

    • It works now? Maybe they fixed it finally

  • Looks like it's down again..

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

    • yep can't place another order…

  • New customer just means a new email when activating, right? Is it OK if I use a different email, but same name?

    • just activate it with a new number

    • New customer just means activating a new service with a new phone number.

You can get cash back on multiple new services using your existing Boost account.

  • Does anyone know if one can create multiple boost IDs? Seems like I can activate using the existing boost id.

    • +1

You can but activation is still linked to your ID.

They've been doing system upgrades all week and are having intermittent issues activating new services.

Still can't order more. Same error

    • Had the same error on Desktop but was able to order via Shopback app

  • Not part of this deal but checking on BOOST posts because I can't log in, something is f'ed on their end.

  • Ive been a postpaid guy the past 7 years but looking to change to this…

I just can't quite work it out.

So i should activate this offer, take the 60 gb for 0 dollars, and then next month recharge to a 12 month plan? is that possible>?

    • +1

      Yup it's possible

  • +1

I want to trust this, but I'm still waiting for my last SB Boost cashback to pay.
CR are 100%, but no exp with SB for boost.
I'll + it in good faith and won't buy until I'm happy.

  • +1

My December purchase was tracked and had a date of 1 March but wasnt confirmed until today. I checked when this was first posted (5th) and it was still "tracked"
So.. now thats its confirmed, more free data!

  • Is there any difference being with Telstra directly or through boost?

    • Yes, free sims.

      • Coverage and signal quality?

        • It’s the same supposedly

  • I am currently with Boost. Anyone know whether you have to port out of Boost mobile for x amount of days to be considered as a new Boost customer or is it fine if I port out and back in to Boost on the next day?
