    Doesn't surprise me.

They recently closed all their business accounts.

    Such a shame…

      bankwest business

Till this day I am still salty about this

Months later I am still dealing with customers sending money for their 30/45 day accounts to the Bankwest account. Most do realise anfter it bounces back and resend. Had 1 guy say it was my fault and refuse to pay as he said it had been paid… despite SIX reminders to update details.

say it was my fault and refuse to pay as he said it had been paid

        fixed….

      • They didn't let you keep your BSB and Acc number and transfer the account to CBA?

        • No not even an option (I did end up using cba for my new business transactions accounts and cc)

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: whoa what a failure by Bankwest/CBA!!

Can't be that hard to redirect the BSB and account number to a new CBA account.

You should have chosen to open an account with any bank other than CBA as a protest.

            • @JimB: i know right, apparently wasnt an option, woulda been a no brainer.

yeah the only other mob i woulda gone with is maybe anz -but they **** me around too.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: You would think with all the tech available that you'd just automatically transfer them to CBA and kept 99% of your Bankwest Customers.

Gotta pick your poison with the Big 4.

                • @JimB: Probably some fee to keep BSB open, so of course they wouldnt want to pay this. They are a bank. Love charging fees, very loathe to pay.

  • That sucks, I've been with Bankwest for a very long time, used to love that the branches were open on weekends.

Looks like we get ever closer to a cashless society 😭

Whether we want it or not?

      • The things you don't miss until they're gone.
Or the road the hell is paved with good intentions.
        Or the slowly boiling frog.

  • We had to leave Bankwest due to their closure of the only local branch, and not providing business accounts any more.

Shame, they were a great alternative to the big four in their prime (yes I know CBA acquired them in 2008).

  • Is it just me, or do bank branches just feel like an example of something where a vast majority of people are subsidising the cost of a service which is used by only a small minority of people?

I haven't visited a bank branch in over 10 years, and I've switched all of my banking to online-only banks who provide better rates, a better digital product, and more often better phone customer support than their Big 4 competitors. Probably reasonable to assume that a big part of this is just their reduced cost base.

I'm sure the vast majority of their customers have not visited a bank in ages and are still indirectly paying for all of the real estate, staffing, network costs.

    • My local cba has a second atm inside the branch which I use on occasion. It's the only time I enter the branch. It only ever has elderly customers and 1 teller open.

At my local CBA you have to be some kind of gymnast to get round the greeter who tries to push you to the smart ATM no matter what you need lol.

I only go in to a branch once every couple of years because the coin counting ATM is inside.

    • I'm sure the vast majority of their customers have not visited a bank

Every time I go to my local CBA branch, there is always a queue…

…of people trying to get out when you arrive.

          that would be excellent

Last time I went to the bank a little old lady was in there trying to take out $300 to pay the taxi driver, who had told her a 15 minute trip cost that much (bank manager went out and gave him a piece of her mind).

Such an ancient world, taxi drivers, old people getting scammed, cash, I want none of it.
