  • ahhh dell 30". love 'em!

They are an awesome monitor, I picked up one of the refurbished units when 50% off retail a few months ago as it was as new with full warranty. At this price I would have been tempted for a new one too…oh noes..now I'm thinking about dual 30" (but I still can't explain to the wife why I need 1x30" and 2x23", and I couldn't afford another one and a divorce…..dammit)

  • I'm curious about these Ultrasharps (interested in 2560 x 1440):
How bad is the input lag on these when gaming?
Is the anti-glare coating as terrible as it's made out to be?

    • +3

Oh god thank god the wife is not on this site (for many many reasons). I'm not a huge fan of Dell as some of the business stuff I have bought over the years has downright sucked, mainly business PCs & laptops, but the monitors have always been top notch. I run the few games I play at 2560 (only for testing purposes of course), no issues with response or delay…what antiglare coating? I haven't really noticed it tbh..but i do notice lots of little details on images and websites which I don't see even with the 23" dells..and they were a huge jump up from my Acer and Asus monitors that have been passed onto the kids.

      • @AJW, bop4eva

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to scout one out to look at in person. It's either one of these, a U2711, or a Samsung S27A850

    • Dude, i'm using my Dell U2412 for my Xbox 360 and i must say it is the best experience i've had so far (only 1920x1200 though) :). Totally cool, no lag, no glare, no dead-pixels blah blah…:)..Hope this is useful

    • Have a U3011. Pretty good all round, but the antiglare is horrible. Really nasty shimmering / glitter effect, especially on whites / still images

In retrospect I kinda wish I chose the HP ZR30", but it was quite a bit more expensive

Wish that lotto win came in. Id buy one of these just so I could do a spit take on it with that fancy champagne that was posted earlier.

Wow that is the price of a Panasonic 50" neo plasma tv.

    • +1

      Panasonic 50" plasma's aren't 2560 x 1440, nor are they IPS displays.

    • +2

what has the price of a tv that only does 1920x1080 got to do with the price of a monitor that can do 2560x1600 (where did people get 2560x1440?)

      • My bad, thought it was 16:9, as damn nearly everything is these days.

      • +1

To be fair it says "Full HD" in the title.
That implies the monitor is just 1920x1080, not greater than.

    • +1

Jeez dude, that wasn't well received…maybe I should refrain from busting out my usual "how many 32 inch TVs can I buy for that price & put in an eyefinity config" jokes! :p

      • Well, to be fair, it's a bit senseless to compare the prices of the two very different products without seemingly glancing at why they so happen to be different. They are marketed at two different audiences, for two different purposes. Just because they have a screen, doesn't mean that they're directly comparable.

        • +1

Well, since we're now discussing fair, I didn't see wtfnodeal's comment as a comparison; just an ironic exclamation of what many OzB'ers would be thinking…myself included.

It's a subtle form of humour, you should try it… ;)

  • Bastards. Each time this bloody monitor comes on special I have to spend the time resisting getting it. GAH!

    for those who are interested.

I bought a 24" Ultrasharp about 3 years ago, always love it as I'm a designer and the colour is just magnificent. Until last year when my warranty was about to expired, a few pixels decided to die on me. I rang dell up, they exchanged a new one for me with no questions asked (well they asked a few questions but it wasn't hard). So now i end up with a brand new 24" Ultrasharp after spending 700$ 3 years ago.

Can't be more happier than that. Also i'm a Battlefield fan so 24" or 30" Ultrasharp can literally blows your eyes ball away :)

    • Oh so sorry, fat finger neg by mistake when reading on my smartphone…if I can re-neg I would … :( I actually liked your comment that warranty was no hassle :)

        • thx :)

    • confused What was neg-worthy about the above? (+ed to counter)

Ah. Above post explains that. :)

  • lol at 'Full HD'.

    Because that's why you spend $1700 on a 2560x1600, 99% aRGB monitor.

  • Any rumours of a replacement with USB3?
