Perfect travel charger. Mrs willyroo liked it so much she "stole" it from me. No coil whine, stays cool, and is stable with additional devices being plugged in.

    • Mine also no issue. Runs my laptop and an external usb-c monitor.

The travel case is a nice touch

Has anyone done any research on this brand? Found a few videos, but haven't had a chance to review them. Keen to avoid anything that's going to burn my house to a crisp.

I've got a bunch of stuff from Zyon and I'm a big fan. I just wish they had a ground plug so my Macbook doesn't get that tingly vibration which can be a bit annoying with all day use. And like all of these types of chargers, the adaptor is upside down, but overall, still a good buy IMO.

  • Is it really the 'latest tech' when you're now selling gan 5 chargers? (To be fair I've no idea the difference)

    • gan 5 doesn't look smaller, wonder what's the diff

      • It isn't smaller but it's more efficient, better power management and heat dissipitation and uses same GanSense chipset as Anker Gan Prime series.

        • do you know if this or your others will charge a yoga 7 2in1 while turned on? some others won't. I couldn't get any info from lenovo on what charging modes it supports.

          • @furyou: Can you please share exact model number? We'll have to look up the specs for it

            • @ibelievesyd: It's the yoga 7 14" 14arb7
I'm looking at both your 65W and 100W 3/4port options on amazon - Would they all use the same protocols and support the same things?

              • @furyou: Yes, charging protocols are same but power outputs are different. Please check the power distribution chart to ensure your devices are compatible.

          • +1

@furyou: The website states that it uses a 65W PD3.0 adapter. So this charger should be compatible.

            • @ibelievesyd: I wonder about if 2-3 devices on your 65W
              Output C1 + C2: 45W+20W, C1 + USB-A: 45W+18W

then the laptop is getting a small amount will IT support the voltage combination for the 45W
I used another 65W PD charger and it couldn't

              • +1

@furyou: This 100W will be 65W + 18W shared. 65W charger will be 45W + 15W shared. It will depend on the laptop whether it can accept 45W input. Some laptops charge at 65W and 30W (with slow charger prompt). Probably your laptop doesn't accept under 65W.

                • @ibelievesyd: So the 100W is more likely to work? I'm trying to find the smallest and lightest combination for my daily travel use so I was hoping for something more like the 65 Watt size and it is half the weight of the 100 Watt

                  • @furyou: How many devices will you have plugged in at the same time? Obviously if you buy a 65W and try to plug in 2 devices, it cannot provide 65W charge to your laptop. As long as you know the limitation around it you can plan for it. If you want the piece of mind to charge additional device then go for 100W

                    • @CodeXD: With the other one it was even if I only had the laptop plugged in and nothing else.

Also how much does running a laptop actually use? Obviously 65W not only covers the use but increases the battery level, so what is the typical usage rate so I can plan what I need to at least keep it level and not dropping?

                      • @furyou: That is entirely up to what you are doing on the laptop and the laptop specs.

With the other one it was even if I only had the laptop plugged in and nothing else.

Sounds like it doesn't support PD 3.0 required from the laptop.

There are some devices that are 65W total but individual port is capped at 30W and 35W.

                        • @CodeXD: Well I seem to use 25% of 71Wh in 2hrs last night, so say 9W? Is that right?
I also have a surface laptop, the charger does that fine while running.

Are there different levels of support PD 3.0, or what should I look out for?

Doing another test now, the lenovo on charge, boot win11 but nothing else. Was 99% at 12noon went to 97% now.
So I don't think it's the total power available to the charger, it's some sort of mismatch in protocol.

I hooked up a smart plug to the charger and it's showing a draw of 10W only.

So I guess that would mean for these ones for 65 vs 100 Watt would not make a difference because they would be running the same chip and protocols. It would either both work or both not

I also got a strange response from Lenovo, a charger that provides 65 watts will charge the laptop when turned on or off. A charger that provides at least 45 watts will charge the laptop but only when it is turned off. anything less will not work at all

                • @ibelievesyd: will the 65W come back?

  • 100W C to C cable 2x Pack(amazon.com.au) @ 11.99 showed $19.99 on Amazon.

    • The 40% came back after a few refreshes.

  • Almost exactly what I need.. Any chance your Powerpod 100W GaN 3 Travel Charger is going on sale soon?

    • Yeah need a travel charger

    • +2

There will be sale on 100W travel in the next 8-10 days :)

      • Terrific to hear!

      • That would be great if there is an USB A port on this.

        • This one is specially for USB-C devices. We will have a desktop version with more USB-C and USB-A ports in near future.

  • Will 140w gan charger be on sale soon? Thanks

    • Unfortunately not. We only have a few units in stock. We will be changing it to a higher power PD3.1 model, probably desktop gan.

      • Thanks. I noticed that the 140w seems not often available on Amazon au. Is that not popular or zyron is planning to release a different version soon?

        • The 140W model will be replaced with a high capacity model. It will go on pre-order around end of the month.

  • I have one of their (I'm guessing older) 100w chargers and, aside from the literal low buzzing sound that I hear if my head is less than half a metre away, I love it.

Keeps my smart (extra stupid) watch charged, keeps the IR blaster going, charges my phone, Chromebook & when needed, it will also top up the power bank I keep in my backpack.

  • I got a Powerpod-PRO 108W Max from 2 years ago.
How does this one compare? Is it smaller/lighter?

    • +1

It’s similar in size but a bit heavier as the Powerpod PRO can do 90W + 18W + 18W. This unit can do 100W.

  • A similar looking GaN 65W charger was recently recalled due to the plug being able to snap off and expose wires:
    https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recalls/comsol-pty-ltd-%E2%…

Does this Zyron one have the same design flaw?

    • +1

No, we have been selling this unit for past 2 years and have never come across such an issue for this charger.

  • Amazon coupon expired

  • @ibelievesyd Are there any that come with a USA travel plug?

    • +1

Yes, the Powerpod series comes with USA plug fixed to the charger. Rest 3 plugs are detachable

  • received mine today, seems like a good quality product but i might have received a dud USB-C cable?

One end does not plug into anything, whether on charger or phone. Bought off amazon - is the only way to return the whole thing OP?

    • You can send an email to [email protected] with a short video and we will arrange a quick replacement

  • @ibelievesyd I saw this last night and was planning on making the purchase this morning but looks like the code has expired! Any chance I could still get this deal please?

    • It’s still available on Amazon
