This is the bit I have trouble with in terms of modern political correctness. Stupid is an insult. Bastard used to be an insult. White (or black, or whatever else) is simply a statement of fact they tell us, not a compliment or insult. But its white (or black or whatever) that offence is taken at, and considered an offence.
How can it be offensive to call someone black (or white or whatever) when people identify themselves as that and say they are proud of being that? I can call myself [insert chosen racial group], but if you do its offensive racism?

While each individual word may not mean much, when put together in a 'Sentence' they hold more meaning.

Given the cab goes out of circulation for a few hours to get cleaned, and the driver has to pay to get it cleaned, £60 seems more than fair to me. A black cab driver spends 3-4 years learning the Knowledge, they're not going to jeopardise their career by playing silly buggers. It's not what Sam said to the cop that worries me, it's why she allowed the situation to get out of hand.
She's dragged it out to this stage because she 100% believed she could get away with it and not face any consequences for her actions.
