During another one of her alcohol fueled night's out on the town, she puked in the back of a Taxi and abused & threatened the driver when he demanded she pay a cleaning fee. The taxi driver and multiple members of the public called the police after witnessing her behavior & when the police rocked up, she immediately started racially abusing the male officers for being white.

Due to being a protected minority, she wasn't expecting to have to face any consequences for her typical behavior of being an abusive racist towards white people. Unfortunately for her she wasn't in Australia when committing this crime, where the police and authorities give you a free-pass to do that if you have a diversity ++ card, so she now has to face up to her crime like anyone else.

Hence, send in the lawyers, que up the fake tears & engage the "I'm really the actual victim" routine from Kerr, Soccer Australia, lefties in general and the Chelsea Football Club.

      • +11

Or an alternate observation would be ignoring her race and gender. That in fact you could imply this protection from any elite Australian footballer / cricketer. Sports star = i can do whatever i like

        • +57

Chelsea Football Club have already banned fans and terminated players for committing race or hate crimes. They'll give out a 3 year ban to fans for so much as pulling a stupid face: https://www.cps.gov.uk/london-south/news/three-year-football…

As soon as this happened though and it was a female who broke the policy, the club for the first time suddenly pulled a 180 and came out in front of the media cameras, stating they fully support Kerr and have no plans to take any action against her at all. They confirmed they knew about her actions for almost a year, investigated internally and concluded she committed the act of hate and racism. Their still 100% supporting her though and taking no actions.

So it's clearly not a case of it being an athlete = being a free pass. Being that she's just a women's soccer player, we also know it's not a case of it being a star = a free pass.

          • +1

@infinite: He pulled the edges of his eyes up, what a dick bag. And he got banned from football for 3 years, he didn't go to court.

            • +11

@Godot: Yeah he pulled slanty eyes to a Korean player. Not on.

          • +2

@infinite: The word you are missing is Australian… Australia has a proud tradition of ignoring these “indiscretions” with club counselling… let’s not refer to police….. drugs ,rape … all of the above….

          • @infinite: Had a half decent point going until you minimised outright racism as "making silly faces"… You might as well excuse fans making monkey noises at a black player as just "silly noises".

        • +6

Actually, sport's stars are expected to behave like saints, even though we give them lots of money and continually tell them that they are heroes and legends. They definitely don't get a free pass. If a sport's star posts something on social media attacking a protected species (transsexual, homosexual, Muslim, etc), their career is over. Like Israel Folau.

Only members of minority groups and left political parties get a free pass for questionable or reprehensible behaviour.

          • @Thaal Sinestro: How was Folau's career over? He just switches codes/comps and is back in business. The bloke has more money than any of us that's for sure

          • @Thaal Sinestro: Thaal, you seem to live a blessed life in the Majority, congratulations to you. No room in your head to appreciate what others life may be like. You must be popular at you MAGA meetings

      • +3

Yeah, what a "crime" it was. Is this really worthy of "news"? Who's it really for?

        • +6

Why would you assume I'm a male, you disgusting bigot ?

          • +1

@infinite: Smells like a troll seeking to improve the political situation of bigots by claiming they do not know what ”tell me you’re salty” means.

        • It's "Tell me xxx without saying".

"Tell me xxx without telling" makes absolutely no sense.

      • +5

Fair, factual and accurate write up from infinite. Why can't the media be like this.

      • +3

        • +1

          She's Greek — from Lesbos.

      • +13

Ah yes, the Australian police - famous for giving minorities a free pass.

      • +1

calling White / Indian a protected minority is hilarious

        • -1

Yet here she is, being protected for being that exact minority………

      • +2

Thank you for the comment, really explains it but unfortunately I don't think Kerr is a "lefty" as you put it. She exploits lefties, but she lacks integrity, dignity and respect for herself or anyone else and all she cares about is who's on her "side".

Then again sport stars sell tickets and jersey's so it doesn't matter if she gets drunk and abuses a couple police officers who happened to be a different colour from her. I wonder how it would've gone if it was a black police officer and she called him a……., I'll let everybody put the rest of that scenario together.

      • Put in HMR prison 10 years then deport her.

      • Even with all your charged language, I have to agree. I'd normally be on the "get over it, ya snowflake" when it's a white person having a sook about double-standards, but this one is just too blatant to excuse.

The media really down-played the situation, and gave Ms Kerr the full sportsperson treatment - one sentence about the situation (but thoroughly sanitised), and then paragraphs and paragraphs of the sportspersons accomplishments.

        • +1

She wasn't protected for being an athlete, she was protected for having approved diversity cards.

Former captain of the Chelsea Football Club, John Terry, had his captaincy, consulting and marketing roles with Chelsea Football Club terminated for a simple unproven allegation of racism by an official who wasn't even within hearing distance and went on to testify under oath they never heard him say anything racist, on top of the fact that he was cleared of a racially aggravated public order offense by a court. The English Football Association fined him, banned him, stripped him of his national team captaincy and terminated his contract with the national squad all together - before anything had been proven about him at all & despite the fact that there was literally not an ounce of evidence of any wrong doing. He and the supposed victim of the offense literally denied any wrongdoing from Terry from the start, both confirming they were just sarcastically shit-talking each other as good friends do on the pitch. Yet they terminated him from those functions regardless. The police charged him despite there being no victim, or no victim's claim, because in the UK, an officer can simply bring charges. So after that injustice, he was cleared by a magistrate and acquitted in court in both the civil and criminal hearings. The magistrate was irate Terry was ever charged by the Police in the first place, given the alleged victim told the police no such racial abuse had ever happened. Yet, Chelse and the FA still punished him before AND after the fact, ruined his reputation, caused the loss of millions of dollars AND they terminated him from more functions within the club after being cleared of all the charges. The head coach of the English football team at the time Fabio Capello quit his role as coach in protest of how Chelsea and the Football Association treated him, despite being innocent the entire time.

Kerr on the other hand - commits an actual hate crime and act of disgusting abusive racism in public, in front of dozens of witnesses against a Police Officer who was called there by other members of the public to hold her to account for her abuse of a separate individual all together just a matter of minutes earlier. What is Chelsea's and the FA's course of action against her - they help protect her and attempt to bury her action from over a year, they take no action against her at all, take no disciplinary measures, make no financial moves against her, don't suspend her……… they come out and with a serious face, stand in front of a press gallery full of cameras and announce to the world that she has their full and unwavering support in any way needed……….. for publicly committing a vile hate crime.

So they support their team member being a racist? Good to know. I guess female sports players are just as bad as the mens.

  • +27

Hate speech laws are well known in the UK and police take them seriously. They also make sure they apply them equally as they arent exactly popular (the laws).

Cant be arresting white folk (majority of the population) under the law but fail or refuse to action breaches when hate speech is aimed at that same majority.

Total fail by Kerr and Chelsea. Both of whom should've known better and will take some serious doing to convince fans and public in general why their support is warranted.

      • +4

This is what Im saying, the laws in the UK on this are super tough. The public didnt want them and they're not well liked. And its why the police are very touchy on it.

She'd have known that living there. She shouldn't have run her mouth off, especially at a copper.

        • +5

I think you’re right, it’s the different cultural and legal context and a young Aussie, well known or otherwise can easily stuff this up. This kind of thing is not liked, but tolerated mostly in Australia. Sounds like she was also intoxicated which never helps one make good decisions. I’ve done some stupid things when drunk, luckily I’m not of National and international interest. Hopefully her lawyers are good.

    • +5

The laws are nuts though, I could claim that I find your use of the gab logo threatening and offensive and under UK law you could be potentially hauled in front of a judge for it.

Such a shocker though, you're not here defending Kerr's freedom of speech but instead taking pot shots at "lefties". I would have thought freedom of speech would matter more to you than politics.

      • +9

Such a shocker though, you're not here defending Kerr's freedom of speech

She committed the race and hate crimes in a country that expressly doesn't have freedom of speech or freedom of speech laws.

Also, the exact same clown laws apply here in Australia, only not through the state & federal courts, but kangaroo courts set up by state based "human rights commissions/tribunals".

"Offended" and "Traumatized" TikTok & Facebook users (many of who are not even Australian citizens) are reporting Australian comedians to these HR Tribunals. The Tribunals are even attempting to extradite people from interstate to face the kangaroo courts, sit through legal struggle sessions and then impose unenforceable punishments.

        https://sterlinglawqld.com/comedian-isaac-butterfield-taken-…

        • lol, hate speech. I love the hyperbole on this thread, you’d think she called for genocide of white men.

I meant conceptual freedom of speech, not legal. Much to your point with Butterfield, those tribunals are allowed to do what they’re doing under law in Australia and yet the appropriate response is to criticise the legal situation, not whine about whatever one political side is doing.

      • -1

        The laws are nuts though

Yea they are, but it's so obvious before they were passed.

Could claim that about any logo….

If you knew what my logo was, then safe to assume I'm for free speech.

(in case it wasn't clear, I think it's ridiculous she's going to court for it)

Merged from Should Racist Footballer Sam Kerr Face Equality for Her Hate-Crime and Be Banned from The Chelsea Football Club ?

Chelsea Football Club under their new owners have one of the strictest anti-racism policies in all of professional sport. As does the English Football Association.

They recently banned a fan for a whopping three years from the Chelsea Football Club and the grounds, because an allegation was made that he "pulled an Asian face" at Tottenham’s Son Heung-min. https://www.cps.gov.uk/london-south/news/three-year-football…

With Sam Kerr now facing trial over aggravated harassment and a racial hate crime that's already on the police record and in evidence as having being committed, should Chelsea now apply real equality and ban her from the club and grounds as well, like they with all levels of the male players and the fans? Or is committing race crimes and hate crimes OK, so long as it's being perpetrated against any of the 1000+ ethnic groups and nationalities of white people?

    Poll Result
    • Chelsea Football Club should show equality and ban her, racism is never acceptable. (7 votes)
    • I don't believe in equality, she should continue not to be held responsible for being a vile racist. (1 vote)
    • -4

In terms of “racism”, what she said is WAY down the bottom of the totem pole. Like it’s barely made it out of the dirt..

      • +24

I agree it’s way down there, and was surprised it even got to criminal trail tbh, but the issue is it’s no different from a white player saying “bloody (insert any race here) bastard” and it being splashed everywhere as racism and no club would stand by that player.

        • -4

That it's a criminal trial is the absolutely insane part of this. Imagine if every time anyone felt "insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress" had happened it meant someone was pulled in front of a judge? You'd have to flat out ban the use of the c word in Australia, because half the country find it insulting and abusive and the other half drop it every second word.

Fans racially abuse Aboriginal players in all sports in Australia and at best they seem to get booted out of the ground. Andrew Symonds turned to drinking after the abuse he copped on field and all that happened was the Indian player lost half their match fee. There's a case going on in the NRL at the moment and it'll be a few games suspended. We like to make clear it's wrong but full prosecution around racism in sport is hardly the norm.

Give Kerr a fine, her team should give her a several match suspension (whenever she's fit to play again) and move on. Her team is backing her because she pled not-guilty and hasn't been charged with anything yet, they've hardly condoned racism.

          • +7

            @freefall101:

That it's a criminal trial is the absolutely insane part of this

whether you agree or disagree with it, that is the law in the UK. she is alleged to have been in breach of that

do americans feel their freedom is impinged because coming here they are not allowed to openly carry firearms under australian law

            • -1

              @Gdsamp: Apparently

They even get away with it when they do, apparently it's an "honest mistake" to forget you can't carry guns into other countries.

And I never said that the law didn't exist, I said it's absolutely insane. Because the British have, if you hadn't notice, gone absolutely insane. They have cameras on everything, keep electing a crazy Tory party, thought leaving the EU was a good idea and believe deporting people to Rwanda is a good idea. As someone with a basic respect for human rights, freedom of speech and common sense the Brits are attempting to give many Muslim countries a run for their money on crazy laws.

          • @freefall101: Just on the part of it being a criminal trial, even the very most minor of low range speeding tickets are 'criminal trials', so while it sounds intense - for something like this, it isn't necessarily. (yes the pealties can potentially be massive, but the penalties also have a massive range - from a fine and "stop being a (profanity)" to time in a govt 'hotel' IIRC.

IMO give her the base fine, a rap over the knuckles, and set the appropriate precedent when it comes to sentencing over comments of this nature.

getting into differentiating between skin colour mentioned in an insult like that would open up a can of worms I don't think it would be wise to go down - just imagine the oppression olympics if they had to build some matrix of all possible race relations to determine what happens when a Brit of Jamaican background insults a Uyghur? and then consider that "white" isn't one homogenous group - the UK and surrounds being somewhat famous for "white on white" violence and oppression, Protestant v Catholic, Brit v Irish, all of that.

            • +9

@quick-dry: Also, don't forget that White/Caucasian British are the aboriginal inhabitants of England. Where is her respect and honour for the British aboriginals past, present, and future? Does she not acknowledge their stories, traditions, and living cultures on their land? Does she not commit to building a brighter future together with them?

Imagine what would of happened if Kerr was white and called an Aboriginal police officer a "black bastard" here in Australia.

She would have been terminated from every professional association, body and her employer in an instant. She would have been immediately banned form the sport. Every last one of her sponsors would have terminated their agreements with her and she would be in front of a human rights court as well as a criminal court, as well as already facing a civil action.

Funny how it's such an extreme example of "rules for thee, but not for me".

        • +2

I agree it’s way down there, and was surprised it even got to criminal trail tbh, but the issue is it’s no different from a white player saying “bloody (insert any race here) bastard” and it being splashed everywhere as racism and no club would stand by that player.

actually if fans/players/officials say something racist they can all be banned/fined for it - there is literally a portal to report it - in the UK id say there is less tolerance to racism then probably any other country on the planet - Sam being injured could see her contract torn up

          https://www.premierleague.com/reportracism

you only have to google he multiple fans/players that have life bans from stadiums/clubs due to anti social behaviour - CFC have a long list of anti social fans that have been banned

    • +3

I saw on the news the club made it very very clear they are backing her 100%. I do imagine if the same sentiment would be shared if the roles were reversed and a white player was involved in something similar..

      • +13

The club's own policy is to terminate and ban any player or fan who commits a race or hate crime. They've enacted it repeatedly already and issued bans.

They've done the exact opposite now though, as soon as the policy was broken by a female. They've put themselves in front of the media camera and said they fully support her……

        • +4

The fractions don’t always work out that way genetically.

          • @Eeples: There isn't a white mathematics, and a black mathematics and whatever other skin colour mathematics. Mathematics is mathematics. And fractions work the same way for everyone. Even those people who want to say that even though they are 1/8th that and 7/8th this, they aren't this, they are that.

        • Her father is 100% Indian. One of his parents was simply Indian but then became a British citizen after birth. That was very common place for anyone residing within the British Commonwealth at the time.

The fact that he was 100% Indian was a point of contention for him when he first came to the Port Adelaide Football Club, because the Aboriginal players at the time were criticized for their poor work ethic while he was being held up as a "black role model" for the local kids instead. The local lefties did NOT react well to this at all and he took a significant amount of vile racial abuse from those who claimed to be "progressives" and "activists". Unfortunately seeing the wrong type of black man show fantastic leadership and work ethic just activated the almonds of those individuals in a pretty terrible way.
