  • Does this include the newer remastered versions of C&C (original) and Red Alert or just the originals?

    • -1

It says release date for those is 8 March, 2024 - so I'm guessing so?

      • +6

no this bundle existed before the remasters, does not include them - edit to specify on Origin

    • +7

Looking at the list of included games, it seems to all be the originals. The remastered ones are a separate purchase.
If you click on the deal and scroll down, it will show you which items are included in this bundle, and which ones you might own/have wishlisted already. None of those games listed are the remastered ones.

      • +2

Yep, have some remasters already but bought this as its still fun I know people thought they were stupid but I loved the FMV scenes lol

Just remembered when I originally pirated C&C (Many many years ago when I was a child), it was on like 20 files and took ages on 28.8 modem.

Since them Ive bought it probably 5 times, have the discs in storage somewhere lol

  • +7

Bought. Awesome deal! It even has C&C Generals!

    • +10

Generals was the one that still stands out with the fondest memories.

      • +7

        "Laptop in hand"
        "Preparing for credit transfer"
        "I'll suck the internet dry!"

        — nostalgia AND concerning accuracy!

        • +4

"OK! OK! I will work" lol

    • +1

I wonder how it runs. Running Generals and Zero Hour which were included in the previous collection packs on the Origin platform are buggy as hell on new machines!

      • +2

Still buggy as when vanilla. There are patches out there to make life easier, particularly GenPatch. I think GenTool also is useful, but optional.

    • I used to play that non-stop back in the day with the Deezire mod.

  • Oooo generals!!

  • +2

Oh wow EA just dropped heaps of older titles. Sim City 3000, Populous, all these C&C titles…shame no older Sims games (1&2 specifically).

  • +2

But does it work on Steam Deck?

  • +4

Shame you can't buy the games separately? I'm only really interested in RA2

    • +3

Guess that's how they get you, eh?

      • +2

Is there a command for generals?

        • +8

For anything else just replace the numbers with whatever SubID correspond to the individual game you're after.

          Generals would be addToCart(799323)

          https://steamdb.info/bundle/39394/#subs

      • @HomeAlone thats brilliant, how do you find out the game id for a particular game?

        • +3

The Id is probably the number in the URL: eg https://store.steampowered.com/app/47700/Command__Conquer_4_…

You can also visit SteamDb for all sorts of additional information about a partiular game: https://steamdb.info/app/47700/

          • +2

@Thaal Sinestro: Actually I wasn't correct about this. The package subId for a game is different from the standalone ID. Here is the best place to find out for this bundle:

            https://steamdb.info/bundle/39394/

Tiberium Twilight package is 4066; app is 47700. I did a Google search but I didn't find any easy way to get thepackage ID other than relying on SteamDB. If you own it, you might be able to get the information vai the Steam console according to a Reddit post: Yes, can be done from console.

            steam://nav/console

The following command will check Witcher 3.

            licenses_for_app 292030

For other games, replace the number with whatever AppID you want to check."

      • Yuri is my master!

      • Yippee, thanks!

  • Also found at ea for $14.97
Not as good as its historical low price of sub $6.

    • The previous bundle didnt have this many games so its not a fair comparison

  • +2

    Fight, win, prevail.

  • +2

    Great games.
A free (and interesting) alternative Combined Arms (thanks to @slipkord) which is a mash up of the OP titles including re-use of some of the original game assets and another - Beyond All Reason. I ended up playing BAR a bit and really liked it, and it is also free, the multiplayer worked like a charm, unlike some of the C&C titles.

  • +1

yeah I have the original pack on origin most of the games stopped working on windows 11 lol. apparently if you buy this version it fixed alot of issues.

    • why didn't origin do any fixes? o.o

      • Nah u had to apply compatiblity setting yourself maybe its an uodated launcher this time

    KIROV REPORTING

    • +1

ello fellow Red alert fan :D von the union!!

  • The best deal in gaming.

  • +2

Finally they got red alert 2!

    "Unit lost!"

    • +2

      conscript reporting

  • I highly reccomend playing c and c generals with the shockwave mod. All new ground units and vehicles, its almost a new game with the same biomes.

    • New Ea and steam version have broken mods for now

      • Oh really thats a shame. I haven't played in a while.

  • +1

    Yessshh red alert 2!!!

I literally looked yesterday and it wasn't on steam at all !

  • Is there multiplayer? The package details seem to imply only single player?

    • +1

Official multiplayer support died with gamespy back in 2013. For generals and zero hour, you can use the thirdparty gentool to have some nice qol fixes and add in matchmaking and online play.

Otherwise, you use cnc online to make the other titles work. Also able to use gameranger for some of these games.

    • +1

Could use OpenRA to play it, you can import all the assets from your original game

    • i highly doubt anyone in the world is playing this via multiplayer online lol unless there is like a 3rd party plugin that someone hosts.

but ea and westwood stoped doing multiplaye for this game like 20 years ago lol.

  • Seth does not approve of this deal, even though it's a great one

  • Can you play any of these online against friends?

  • When was the remastered edition got released? Just checked my mailbox and saw that I bought the Ultimate Collection back in 2013. Will this be different to the one I bought back then?

    • Same as the one you purchased in 2013, except this one is on Steam and the one you purchased is from Origin. Steam version also has the EA app bloat removed.

      • +1

Thanks Mike, not gonna get it then.

  • Can i get a refund on the deal from a few days ago and buy this bundle?

    • If youve played less than 2hrs I think

      • Yeah haven't touched it. I put in a refund request so hopefully they refund it.

        • Managed to get a refund on the Red Alert 3 and C&C 3 deal from a couple days ago just now. Rebought this collection 👍

  • -1

Just put in a refund for these. These are the original games in their original state, so if you have a modern system (I’m running Intel ARC on win11) this may not work for you.

Also steam refund is a PITA, its 13 separate transactions and not 1. Raised a support ticket.

Shame because I wanted to play Generals.

    • Wondering if i can run it on steamdeck

    • Theyve been modified to work on newer OSes. Ive been able to run and play ra2 (and Simcity 3000).

  • Oh I hit buy now so fast, just for nostalgia. Now I need a Windows PC to play it :/ Mac user for the past decade

  • Games are good, only issue is they are too old to be run on most PCs.

  • +2

    Shake it baby

  • COMMENTING

  • I have various collections over the years - purchased one in the early 2000s, that was really just RA 2 + Expansions.

Then another physical collection (the first decade release). Then another physical collection (which in reality was aphysical case…. but a digital download code) and also a digital version of the same collection.

Buying it again to run through steam is a real possibility for me lol.

  • What's the usual price on this bundle?

  • +1

cool.. more games to add to list of steam games i bought and never played

  • "a little c4 knocking at ya door"

  • I bought this recently; Steam gives a discount if you have already gotten some of these games in the library.
Red Alert 2 and Command & Conquer 4 got taken out of Steam in the past so this is the best way to get them back.
They don't make RTS like this anymore.

  • Trying to play the original Generals (not Zero Hour) and I have 32 inch 4K monitor and been searching online on how to fix camera height issues. Managed to get maximum resolution increase through modifying an Options.ini file but the camera is zoomed in way too much.
