Yep, I realize it's been much cheaper with the insane trade-in bonuses and stacked coupons we saw last year. Regardless, this might be good for someone wanting an S23 now.

Deal only applies for the green colour.

It'd be a good idea to price-match somewhere like Officeworks to knock off another 5%.

Personally, I'm still holding out for a better price in the coming months. Even with the S24 line out, the price of a base S23 continues to be stubbornly high.

EDIT: Looks to be out of stock as of ~3pm AEDT. Lavender is available for $987.

  • Isn't there meant to be a some launch of new sets sometime mid match 2024?

    • That's the A series (A35 and A55).

    • +1

      sometime mid match 2024?

      Are you from Boston?

  • +3

    most eco-friendly variant

  • +12

Price is stubbornly high because it's still a very good phone. At $900 it's much better value than a full price S24

    • +1

Yes the S24 at $1399 RRP lol

      • +6

Thats a ridiculous premium to pay for basically just a 100mah battery upgrade and a hotter processor

        • +3

Apart from the additional OS upgrades and the 100mah, I'm pretty sure the SD 8 Gen 2 chip is probably a big enough benefit over the exynos that it might be valid for any other small benefits.

The AI and other shit it comes with is very much par-cooked at best, and will shortly be losing its exclusivity to eligible devices [S22/23, later Z models].

          • @Bisky1: I'm hoping the S25 to finally get a main camera upgrade

    • +2

Got s24 ultra for 1.2k at launch day with $1 trade in

      • with $1 trade in

        Nice…… 1.199 to pay

      • +4

Right, so you once got a deal on a different phone! Thanks for telling everyone

  • +2

So far this is the best value light flagship handset with zoom lens and Snapdragon chip, and most of the AI bits from S24 will be moved to S23 this month.

    • Isn't the fe model better value when on sale? Currently $799 with further $100 trade in bonus and extra 5% off at samsung education or epp

      • +1

I'm sucker for the 160gram on the s23 compare to the 200gram of the FE

      • And SE's chip is even older

      • No way. The gen 1/exynos 2200 are worse power efficiency wise when compared to the gen 2. Beaten by the snapdragon 888. Even the 865 is better. https://youtu.be/s0ukXDnWlTY . I'd just get this.

  • +2

excellent phone, been using mine for almost a year already and battery has been fairly solid. I would still take it over the S24 and it's exynos chip.

  • +1

The average person won't know the difference. For those that do know SD gen2 performs better, more efficient than the Exynos in the s24 … And that's saying something… A last gen phone performing better than the current generation.

If the Exynos regions had it cheaper for a sub-par chip in comparison to the SD variants sure..
But they charge about the same or more to make $$$ and that's BS!

    • -1

Well the Aus Exynos preorder was cheap

    • Not too sure about that. The reviews I've seen comparing the two show that while exynos is worse than gen 3, it is only slightly worse and much better than gen 2.

    • Got the S24 priced with corporate rewards program.
      S24 128gb
      Screen protector $19
      Leather case $39
Trade in $120 + Trade in Bonus $250
      Ended up being $808

Then googled "Exonyx 2400 is better than SD Gen3"
      Still canned the purchase

      • I would have gone for that lol

        • Yeh technically it's $750 just for the phone
          So a real good deal.

Pixel 8 (not Pro) was the same price last few days. Better deal IMHO.

still rocking with the S21 Ultra ^_^

  • +3

great phone (my s23+ is, anyway). only problem is the camera focus issues which some if not most s23s seem to have when taking photos of documents and such, which is genuinely frustrating.

    example, known as 'bananagate' sometimes

    • +1

A royal pain that a camera can't take a clear pic. I still use my S8 for taking document pics as my S23 can't. Very annoying and would avoid s23 if important. Even smaller receipts are blurred top and bottom. Had I known, would never have bought but was hoping for a software fix. Never happened.

    • +1

I swear by CamScanner app but unsure whether it can fix that issue. It does straightening of angles so I wonder.

      • will give this is a go, tysm

      • +1

The issue is the camera lens. Am guessing due to not having a macro function and existing is more about wide angle distance shots. Samsung says to move camera further away but that's silly as tiny words are blurred being too far away!
90% of my camera use is for reference purposes e.g. electronics boards or inside of things to zoom to ID parts. Can't be done with S23 as again top and bottom areas are blurred and small writing can't be read. One has to take 3 pics.
Stay clear of S23 if close ups/macro pics are important.

  • -3

I got S23 Ultra for less than that quite some time ago. This is a shit deal.

  • +5

Got the S23 for $628 in October last year direct from Samsung.
$899 is still too high for a previous gen phone.

  • S23 ultra $1300 new near on a year ago so ?

  • -1

    This is a joke price

  • I got my S24+ 256gb for $1044 this is an awful deal… Gov epp with the $250 trade in for a busted s8

    • -2

Is this better than 23+ since 24 is not SD?

  • +5

Thanks OP! I price matched at Officeworks and got it for $854.05. Not the most incredible price in history, but I lost my phone down a ravine and needed a new one and this is a solid bargain.

  • Random thing, I have a s23 ultra and have pushed my resolution to Max, no degradation in battery life. Give it a go!
