  • Just got a refund… with no explanation, I actually had to do a search on the email that the refund came from which brought me back to this page to know what it was even for.

To refund is one thing BUT to say nothing and just do it silently is very poor.

You guys didn't miss out. I got mine, and its plastic.
No only that, because it was posted in a regular envelope with a 60c stamp,
it was tagged "More to Pay" as it was too thick. $2.10 extra postage. FU.
(This was done by the seller, not AusPost.)

Congrats "FancyChannel" - you just made my "Shit list".

    • +2

      i got mine today too

has the same "more to pay" $2.10 auspost sticker on it.. also got a sticker saying

"Sender is a large volume ebay seller
      Non-contactable
      pls collect MTP charges
      WA SPB Revenue Recovery"

      lol

so we don't need to do anything right?

and mine has scratches and marks all over it

      NEGGED!

    • That sucks big time. Now I don't feel bad getting a refund, and a copy & pasted message that doesn't address the issue of them not explaining the refund to non-OZBargain checkers.

Now I wish I could double neg.

  • good job on the default response rep… clearly not copied and pasted…

  • Don't know if people should be sad because they got refunded, I got mine today and it's really cheap. The chrome coating is peeling on the bottom of it, I guess at least from afar it looks ok

  • I also got a note from my post office about $2.10 I have to pay for some letter.
Can I just ignore and not collect it?

  • Can we clarify if ANYONE actually received the deal as advertised? Did anyone get theirs for $0.66 delivered?? It was bad enough signing up to a new site, going through the payment process just to get it refunded (without explanation at the time) - but to have to pay extra seems to me like false advertising?? Do we have a sin bin for these sort of operators?

  • Hi I received it today, I had to pay an extra $2.10 because of insufficient postage. How do I claim this back?

  • +1

I think the rep needs to step in here and send a credit or refund for the $2.10 to everyone who had to pay for the delivery. The deal clearly states that it was FREE SHIPPING and the site still lists the product as free shipping. If they stuff up on using an incorrect method for sending these items, then how is it your fault, and why should you pay?

  • Store and rep banned subject to satisfactory resolution of issues with postage

Without knowing the full details of what action you can take with with paypal on this issue I would consider the following.

    1. Is it worth the $2.10 plus your original investment?
    2. If not then if you refuse to accept the package, you are out the 66c vs the $2.76 you are if you cant get a refund.
    3. If you refuse to accept, can you claim a refund of the 66c via paypal?
    4. Is it worth the hassle of fighting paypal for the 66c?
    5. For those who havent got the package, my guess is that you are more likely to be successful in getting your 66c back than the extra postage charges.
    6. What price to teach the vendor a lesson?

Probably more things to consider as well, maybe some here have so insight or experience on what they have successfully achieved with Paypal

    • Such a shame, had it all gone to plan I would have easily bought anything else this store was going to throw at me for cheap!

      And thanks ozpete!

  • More to pay…

No way these guys are getting any of my money, i'm not paying $2.10 for there mistake. Paypal dispute begin, let's see how it goes.

Someone neg them on my behalf? thanks.

    • They're untrustworthy and sly. They told me to send it back to them for a refund knowing that I'll have to pay more postage costs over the $2.10 I already paid. How did your dispute go?

      • I also have a paypal dispute open…requested a refund via Paypal Dispute Resolution. The guy responded "It is the fee from the post office and not from us. We did not charge you the postage. Why should we give refund to you. Thanks,"…NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! Like I am trying to rip him off…

  • I was wondering about the extra charges - some people here stating they HAD to pay extra. Other people indicating they received the envelope, flagged with extra charges, but still received it.

Does it mean the "WA SPB Revenue Recovery" people will send everyone a bill chasing it up? Or do those who have "had to pay extra" all have post office boxes or some other arrangement preventing them receiving the letter directly?

  • Its ridiculous.
the envelope is not thicker than 2 cm.. they shouldnt have charged more..

i got mine in the letter box.. then the next day, someone else @the same address got the MTP notice form.

    • A large letter can be up to 360mm x 260mm in size, 20mm thick

ie 2cm so it will depend on how accurate your 2 cm is. 2.1cm would be too thick

      • To clarify, since I received one in my letterbox (though no follow-up bill yet), I don't think it's the thickness.

According to http://auspost.com.au/apps/domestic-letter.html the postage ought to be $1.20 because although the product is only 8mm thick, it's 22g (according to my scales), which makes it fall into the 20-50g weight category.

        So…

        1. Australia Post has charged the correct postage.
        2. FancyChannel.com has advertised the product would be $0.66, inc. delivery.

The party clearly in the wrong is FancyChannel.com

The party possibly in the wrong is AusPost who sent the packages on to unwary consumers, despite knowing the problem to the extent they had sticky labels ready to apply. If they'd not accepted the packages into the postal system, it would be a matter of consumers seeking a credit card/PayPal chargeback.

However, my view on AusPost is an opinion, whereas my view on FancyChannel.com is a fact.

        • because AusPost couldnt contact FancyChannel, they just charge the recipient of the letter.

And shouldnt it be just another 60c? and not $2.10?

        • I'm not saying it's right what AusPost did, and I will be taking it further too. I'm just pointing out why they charged more.

  • Given how they've put the OzBargain community off-side, it's interesting to see there are ZERO negative comments on their FB page. I don't know whether nobody has posted there, or if they're deleting the negative comments.

    • You can refuse to pay the extra charges. If you do they just wont deliver it.

  • I only got the email from PayPal, never got an email from the seller about it. But mine hasn't arrive at all in Perth yet other people seem to be getting it? And no refund either. Seems I've been ripped!

  • I got a refund within a few hours when opening a PayPal dispute… i'd suggest doing it.

    • Yep all good, got the refund in less then an hour :) It's not even the money (hell, $0.66 is nothing!) but it's the principle, it's better in my pocket then some shonky dealer.

  • Has anyone been able to contact the seller and get a response?

    • Tried to, got the delivery failed response

  • Their website address got suspended…

  • Harry (@kangaroobaby) is unfortunately in penalty box at the moment due to this supply issue (hence unable to post reply here, pending TWAM). He did PM me last Wednesday (7 Nov) that their web hosting company has closed their website due to high volume traffic, and requested to have this deal removed.

1400+ clicks are hardly "high volume" though, even for a shared hosting company in US. I have asked him to fix his hosting situation instead. Their website did come back soon afterwards, but looks like to be down again.

A dysfunctional website is a good enough reason for PayPal to issue a refund though.

For those still wishing to contact Harry, his email address and phone number are available on the WHOIS record of his domain. However you might want to consider giving him a break by just requesting a refund through PayPal.

    • I requested a refund via Paypal Dispute Resolution. The guy responded "It is the fee from the post office and not from us. We did not charge you the postage. Why should we give refund to you. Thanks,"…NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! Like I am trying to rip him off…

  • I just got my order in the mail last week…Surprise surprise…The Postman asked me for $2.10 as "more to pay" charge due to postage being inadequate. I've already emailed fancychannel and no response yet. My order was posted in a normal envelope from somewhere in Australia without a return Adress, so Aust Post could not notify the sender that the 60c stamp was inadequate. My guess is that it was posted from WA as there's a big fat sticker on the envelope saying:

"MORE TO PAY $2.10 Insufficient Postage & Surcharge"

"Sender is large volume ebay seller
    Non-contactable
    Pls collect MTP Charges
    WA SPB Revenue Recovery"…

  • I haven't heard any thing, received the items or received a refund. Avoid. Paypal dispute opened.

    • Interestingly, I received the item in the envelope with "more to pay" sticker yet I have not heard anything further from the AusPost SWAT team responsible for debt collection. I hope they have found this website and realised the true problem was the vendor, not the unwitting recipients.
