Wow so the new ones all have hall effect sticks… Not bad

    • Sounds fancy, why is that a good, I'm interested to know

      • +5

No stick drift, the bane of all controllers with joysticks.

      • +1

Hall effect sticks as mentioned by arealtur is a better designed analogue stick which is supposedly meant to prevent stick drift. (Where the stick starts moving on its own when in stationary position.)

      • +1

It basically eliminates drifts, so the sticks (and controller) last longer.

      • +3

Hall effects use magnets so there is no friction or wear on the internal moving parts. Other ones use a different system that can wear over time and contribute to drifting phenomena.

  • How about hall Bluetooth version?

Huh seems the old Bluetooth is still better

    • yeah, the bluetooth+2.4g hall effect has been on sale for quite cheap lately…

    • +1

      Why's that?

  • +1

Hopefully stick drift is a thing of the past, now to fix lb/RB buttons from failing

    • +3

I have the Bluetooth version and I am really unhappy with the shoulder buttons. They don't feel very nice and they make a loud plastic clicky noise when pressed rapidly. Returned my first one because I thought it was faulty but the replacement is the same.

      • +1

Had mine for a little bit, and I agree. I think the small amount of play in the back buttons is what makes them clicky, and even more so over time. Small trade off but still worth noting nonetheless.

      • All my shoulder/trigger buttons make loud click sound . The RB/LB buttons don't anymore but they also don't work, I play with headphones. Pretty sure you can fix it easily, I've had Xbox gen 2 controllers do that to me a few times if it's the same issue it's a tiny piece of thin foam strip in a rectangular shape, most likely the glue has unstuck and fallen out of place

        • Sorry to hear you have the same problem, both of the ones I have tried are brand new out the box with this issue.

          • @drinkin-beer: Took the controller apart, I re-glued broken part (Design Flaw) with epoxy rated to 75kgs. It snapped as soon as I tested controller (while apart)

Pretty sure if you play games like naraka where shoulders are used frequently, your's will also snap within a month use.

Here's a photo of design flaw, seems intentional to me.

@Bretttick: That sucks. I might try to return mine.

              • @drinkin-beer: FYI if yours has the hall effect it might be different, if you open it you will be able to find out for sure. It's not hard to open. But there is a risk you could break a tab. I've taken many controllers apart they have been pretty much the same over different brands and haven't broken a clip.

If you don't know what to look for, send me a pic I'll give you a hand or any questions just ask

    • Is this a big problem with the controllers? I play Rocket league and I tend to wear out controllers and use all the buttons.

  • So does this work with Xbox or not?

    • +1

      Nope.

If it did work for the Xbox One/Series, 8bitdo would highlight its compatibility.

    • +1

Not. There are very few wireless controllers that are made for Xbox. Microsoft are very tight with their wireless licensing. Same applies for headsets.

    • They make an xbox version of this, fully licensed by M$

  • I would recommend the Pro2 because that comes with ability use AA batteries, and you can also replace the included rechargable over time
