Just a few tidbits for the keen TV beans.

Pros of 2024 Samsung TV line is release insertion price. They are discounted prior to 2023 TVs release pricing.

The 2024 models are not a big leap over 2023 however one feature they have improved is the processing - edge to edge details are clean and consistent especially in the Neo QLED range.

The niche Frame model has had the biggest jump in quality with more detail and clarity.

If you are into brightness and value in the OLED range, recommend the Samsung S90C 2023 model over the 2024 replacement which has a more matte screen to counter reflections before they run out. I personally prefer the S90C model unless accuracy is preferred.

Since Thursday the D range has been installed at many retail stores for viewing (especially Bing Lee) for comparison and clearance deals have ramped up on the C range.

    Other rumours regarding Sony …

There is a lot of pressure from Chinese owned brands, especially TCL (price dumping and increase in quality). Contacts in the Australian industry have advised (i) TCL have stepped up their game tremendously with reliability in their current range with few faulty returns (ii) Sony may be pulling out of the X90L range due to losses/less profitability and (iii) the X95L replacement (M?) is said to be on the cards for mainstream Australia release (the X95L was hard to get) as they continue to move upmarket both in TV quality and pricing.

Thanks buddy, I’ve been holding off getting a new TV, still sitting here with an itchy trigger finger

      • No worries, one last tidbit - retail TV sales have been subpar this financial year so hopefully some big reductions coming soon despite inflation pressures.

        • Let’s hope, my Samsung is clinging on ;)

        • When do you think will be the best time to buy a tv, Kogan have released a 4k qled 144hz for 500? or should I definitely stay away from kogan?

Cheers for the info. I’m also in the market and happy to wait for a deal. Leaning towards TCL for my budget/specs I am after and those words are reassuring.

  • Any good for gaming?

  • Spewing I missed the last few Samsung deals, keen to get a 65-75" for cheap. Are these new models?

Just going to say, the $299 40" 4K TV from AldI I picked up today punches well above is weight. Only needed it as a display to complement my projector and other AV, but it really does a lot, especially if you want it as a smart tv. Once I worked out to add it to Logitech Harmony as 'LG Smart TV' I was away and running.

    • Curious to how the larger one goes, wonder if it's the same OS and hardware

Don't know anything about TVs but need a new one. Have been looking at the TCL miniLED. How does this compare?

Im guessing the TCL miniLED is superior tech, but I'm worried the overall quality of the TCL is lacking compared to Samsung. Would the average tv watcher notice the difference? Is Samsung preferable for the build quality? I have external speakers so not worried about in built speaker quality between the two

  • I am not getting these prices on samsung edu website.
85” is for $2799 same with other sizes

    • I take it back. It is showing up this price when logged on browser (just checked)
But not on samaung app when logged on with edu account

  • Anyone know how does UA85DU7700 compare to TCL c845?
