Any way to save on delivery? Currently showing $86 on Amazon

    • +3

The majority of gym equipment (especially racks etc) are bulky and come via freight.

Shiping is always going to be expensive.

    • +5

it's a bulky 48kg product. shipping companies can't just snap their fingers and make shit like this appear at your doorstep for pennies

"The barbell racks can be adjusted 15 times"

I wonder what happens on the 16th adjustment attempt?

      The gorilla escapes the cage…

        The gorilla escapes the cage…

You need to first apply Gorilla glue

    • I'm like 50% sure this means there are 15 different adjustment heights but it could also just be haunted or cursed gym equipment obv. Hence low price.

doesnt get more basic than this - $86 delivery on amazon, not bad i guess considering how freight costs have skyrocketed since covid has settled.

maybe add this pulley system from amazon for about $80 (price fluctuates, WILDLY) - to add more variety to workout (triceps, biceps, cable fly, face pull, shoulder work etc) - i can imagine it would not be very stable for heavier (maybe 5kg or more?) weights though.

the second hand plate weights market is still very hit and miss, some great bargains to be had, some others still trying to sell for more than retail.
i wouldnt pay more than $2.5/kg for second hand unless it was PRISTINE condition.

bog standard oly bar you can get for around $100 if you time it right brand new, a little less 2nd hand but prob want to make sure it hasnt been abused.

  • I just sold my 10year old powerack for 300 on FB market…. this is a bargain.

  • +5

There is now way this will be able to contain a gorilla.

    • +8

Disclaimer : It doesn't come with a Gorilla.

      • So true cost is Cage + Delivery + Gorilla?

  • +3

would this make a suitable clothes rack? sick of the flimsy plastic ones from kmart.

    • +14

Only if your clothes weigh less than 200kg.

    • +2

      Yes.

Also makes a great adjustable frame for a WFH desk.

      • +1

Honestly the concept of using it like that sounds kind of cool haha. Gonna be a pain in the ass adjusting though 😂

  • Those with good storage can buy multiple and resell for profit. I can't be bothered

  • +2

Total weight capacity of 250kg only, not enough for my 350kg squat.

    • +15

Should be fine when you subtract your 300kg bw?

  • Ozbargained

  • +1

Not sure I want to be under a $90 cage….

    • +5

unless you benching triple digits i think it would be fine with some common sense and no ego lifting shenanigans

      • I can do 120kg for one rep, does that make me too badass for the gorilla cage then?

        • +1

i think 120kg can be caught on those spotter arms fine assuming the arms are not hollow and made out of F tier Chinesium with old chinese newspaper filling

  • +2

Can’t wait to put some pot plants on this under my verandah, thanks

  • Thanks OP, Amazon OOS so grabbed one from bunnings marketplace.

  • Pretty special price, if you need a budget quality one. I never bought one, but did shop around a couple of years, back, couldn't get anything budget quality for less that $300, new.

  • "We've had an issue processing your order. Please try again in a few moments."

I'm guessing it is over for Bunnings too

    • yes and other stores too.

  • +1

As long as the steel thickness is at least 2mm, it would be fine for 99% of lifters out there. Anything under 2mm steel is getting a little thin.

  • If anyone bought but decides they don't want to keep it. Hit me up in, Sydney.

  • Just got my Amazon order cancelled without a reason.

We're writing to inform you that your order has been cancelled by Gorilla Sports AU. We' re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Get on the chat and complain to Amazon CS. You might get something out of it.

      • The strangest Amazon customer service experience ever. And I've had a few of them. I ended up with a refund and a $60 voucher for products sold by Amazon AU.

The first person on the webchat told me Amazon got complaints re the quality of this rack, so Amazon asked the seller to withdraw the product. Then they told me I can find it elsewhere on Amazon, and Amazon would reimburse the price difference. I pointed that product is not available, so they asked if a pair of barbell stands is alright. When I said it's not what I'm after, they disappeared without a word.

Another person showed up and was trying to catch up. They said the seller oversold and that Amazon can't do a thing about it. When I mentioned the previous person already said Amazon was ready to reimburse the price difference if I buy elsewhere, and pointed to this Body-Solid Best Fitness Power Rack, Red for $349.03 delivered being the closest I can find and I'm OK with, they stopped responding completely for over 10 minutes. Then they replied there's nothing Amazon can do apart from refunding me with the extra $60.

So, all in all, it's Gorilla that flood marketplaces with quantities they can't provide, taking money for it, then not delivering.

For a desktop web browser, Amazon's webchat is here. Find and click "Something Else", then in the next screen "Contact Us", then in the next screen "Start chatting now" to open a popup with the chat.

        • Nice result at the end!! 👍

          • @Scrooge McDeal: I need to beef up tho. Looking what to buy instead now.

That Best Fitness Power Rack, Red I linked before is going to be $349.03 (its price) - $161.98 (what I'd pay for Gorilla delivered) - $60 (compensation) = $127 more…

            • @pizzaguy: If you can't find something in your price range, use your $60 Credit to buy something else on Amazon, and maybe start looking at FB Marketplace some good bargains can be had on Gym Equipment, specially if someone it's moving house.

        • +1

You did well. The most I've got from support for stuff ups is $20 promo credit, normally only $10 for cancelled orders.
